For anyone who is having trouble.. do as they say and take your time. If you have multiple USBs connected.. do not click disk 2.. click your own. Also if it is still not working, re try and make sure it is the same way they have done it and keep going back if you need to. It was not working for me and I was typing it a little wrong. Works again now :D I never really put a thumbs up, unless it actually works and this does.. Thank you
The solution for me ended up being downloading the "Chromebook Recovery Utility" extension for Chrome (even though I've never used a Chromebook), opening it, clicking the settings button (gear icon) and clicking "Erase recovery media" and selecting my USB. Hope this works for you if you were also stuck!

Worked for me, so thanks for the help. To those still having issues with it, you need to unplug the USB once you've completed the steps, then plug it back in. It appeared to still be write protected for me at first, but it just needed to 'reset' so to speak.

You must add another command after clearing attibutes that is 'exit ' for saving the changes And Eject the pendrive and insert again. Then formatting will be successful

Thanks it worked in my case. I removed the sd card while formatting it in linux and one partition on it became unallocated. Though disk management didn't detect it but diskpart and easeus did. At last I formatted the unallocated space from easeus and it worked. And I was doubting this video the entire time after seeing comments but anyways tried it. Maybe others are having different issues.

This was the only video that helped me fix the problem by differentiating the choice between 64 bit and 32 bit in the Registry Editor. I tried all the options (same as here) in several other videos (who seemed to have copied each other) and it failed because their systems were 32 bit and mine is 64 bit. Thank You! However now I'm scratching my head wondering how my system got write protected in the first place.
For the SD card, there is a security switch on its side. If it is in the "locked" position, move it to the "unlocked" position to disable the write protection
its a month later but I got it to work using following; Open a command Prompt as administrator (cmd.exe) Type Diskpart and press Enter Type List Disk and press Enter Type Select Disk X (where X is the disk number of your USB drive) and press Enter Type Clean and press Enter Type Create Partition Primary and press Enter

In my case it was a PC at target where I took my drive to print photos. That PC is apparently gone since I tried putting the USB drive in one that was in the same spot but it didn't fix it. Why can't someone write a universal routine that can quickly fix this problem? They would make a fortune charging a buck for it.

3:04 instead of this I did "clean" and that completely formatted it which is what I needed because there was about 1 gb that I couldn't use for some reason on my usb stick

same problem by clearing the attribute , i think it's because of a non authorized file inside the drive like when you wanted to copy or move the file
