Clear Precise Tutorial thanks👍 , When I change the BW from Narr to Wide , press Menu and Exit , it goes Back to Narr with N on the Screen and Press Menu again shows Narr , any thoughts ? Thanks
Is this on Channel Mode or VFO? If in Channel, whatever you saved the channel as will persist. If in VFO and you are changing it as you are supposed to... I'll have to think about why that may happen.
@@deenunya7735 thats how it will work. Channel mode will keep all the settings you programmed into it, except TXP, that will start on the one you programmed but you can change it. If you want to change bandwidth you will have to reprogram it.
Um... Its just the width of the wavelength. For ham purposes W is fine, for a lot of other purposes the law mandates using N so frequencies don't overlap. It's not an extremely important thing, when testing with friends we were unable to tell the difference but we were just going by sound and weren't using any real testing equipment.
Hello, I bought 2 Baofeng Uv-82 units, have all the cables, base chargers and chirp downloaded but since I purchase them, I haven't been able to program in frequencies in my county, since I had a mild stroke. I just want to use the units as receiver scanners with like the Police, Fire, Rescue, maybe NOAA, Coast Guard type channels. Is there a company I can send one of the units to to program it for me. Then I think I can handle downloading my channel frequencies on my laptop and uploading them into the other radio. Both radios are new. Thanks for any input.
Ok I bought the speaker mic..but when I key up it seams to only be able to talk on it for only a fee seconds..can I adjust that to talk longer.???? Thanks thanks for this video helped alot..
We have the uv82 and the 888s. Both new, all newbies. When on channel mode, would both not communicate to each other on the same channel or are they set differently ? Thanks if anyone helps.
I live in the UK and bought my Baofeng R two months ago. Unfortunately, nobody around here seems to know any frequencies,so my radio is up to now useless. What frequencies are used in the UK and does anyone know the repeater frequency for Bude area in Cornwall?
Believe it or not, many pay me to programme their Baofeng transceivers because they did not want to buy the programme cable and are too lazy to learn how to manually programme the baofeng style transceivers. Abbree, Radiooddity, Pofung, Sansonic all have a few radios that have the same programming steps for their radios. Perhaps they all use the same firmware programming company. But I charge a tank of petrol to programme one manually. It is very easy to do but people are just either too lazy or too stupid to do it. It is easy money for me. I do not even have my own nor do I have an amateur radio license. I just read the manual and figured it out.
Using it on the charger is worse. Discharge and charge at the same time shortens the life. It won't kill it in one shot but the more you do it the less charge it will hold.
@@509rifas Haha - I am still at the "I don't know what I don't know" stage! Might be helpful to do a video on the 'next steps' ... something like what kind of good upgrades (antenna comparison?) might be beneficial(?)

An can I lock it out so we can hear dispatch.but not key up an still be able to talk on the channel we use..??? Help
hockeyfreak043 the easiest way is to use the CHIRP program and you can set duplex to "off", which will disable tx. If you cant do that, you could manually program the channel (not shown in this video) and put your transmit to some other unused frequency so as not to disrupt traffic, though that is frowned upon.
Theres another video on my channel about how to use one of these as a scanner. May help slightly. I can probably do one just on manual programming to avoid TXing when you shouldn't.
Though i should note that using these to TX on as a firefighter in technically a no-no in the US. Not so sure how much anyone would care, my concern would be the quality of the device. These are useful, but they arent the best for sure.

The Baofeng UV-82 is a decent radio
It works good for the price, great for getting into the hobby or screwing around with a cheap radio.
Question. Is there a way to make it *not* interrupt your FM radio when a transmission comes thru?
Best way to do that is to set it to a frequency that no one uses, or set the R-CTCSS to something so that it won't play the transmission.
