*ANOTHER* Wrap Dress || Because my mom made me do it!

- When your mom asks you to make a video about making a wrap dress, how do you say no? Spoiler alert - you don't! Yes, I know I made a wrap dress last year. And yes, I know it was probably less than helpful. So maybe this video will help a little bit more and show you more of the actual process of sewing your own wrap dress.
I made this one from an upcycled bedsheet so it's soft and super swooshy and feels like I'm wrapped in the ultimate comfort. Sure, it makes me want to curl up and take a nap, but at least I'll look good in the meantime.
If you have a few garments that fit you really well, consider using those to make your own patterns and smoosh them together to create the perfect frankendress.
Enjoy!

This looks so good! The halterneck-esque detail is so chic
It was a total accident but now I'm going to have to try it on even more tops!
Brilliant! As you were trying on the bodice, I thought--this clever woman is trim and well-proportioned, but even so, she really ought to put darts in the bust....and then you solved it your own way! Brava! Subscribing today! Thank you.
I just did something like this and totally had an open front skirt too😂😂 I always have strange gaping up in the back and above the bust too 😝 I end up with really weird darts but that neckline is nice!
Whoopsie! Good thing it's a pretty easy fix. I always get gaping so I'm trying to learn how to problem solve, and like you, I tend to end up with weird darts everywhere. If the pattern is busy enough, it seems to hide it pretty well!
Your mum was right - it looks great and very flattering shape. Well done on the pattern smooshing. Love the halter neck and swooshiness and POCKETS! 🎉
Thanks so much! 😊 I should probably listen to my mom more; she seems to know what's up!
Very pretty. I always had problems fitting surplice tops. Pockets are important! A person I dated a long time ago said he liked the way I always had my hands in my pockets! Attitude!
@@KatieMakesStuff Quite annoying though - especially when they’re right!
This turned oit fantastic! I love what you did with the neckline!
In the words of the great Bob Ross, it was "a happy little accident"!
That neckline is awesome and that fact you happened on it by mistake is amazing, bet you won’t be able to replicate it 😉
Love it love it love it
I thought the same thing! I'll never be able to guess my way into this again, but I'm glad I did it once!
@@KatieMakesStuff😂 It happens to me all the time cooking.
Great job Katie but I am kinda lost how you cut the front of the dress. Was amazed how you did the back but please can you do the front over lapping cut. thanks
Love the chaotic energy, this one turned out so fantastic!
Chaotic energy should be my Super Hero name!
This dress is gorgeous! It looks so comfortable and elegant at the same time. Thanks for sharing the experience of making it 💗🙏🏽
Oh wow, you did a great job! Looks perfect on you.
Great Video!! I love your creativity, and your design! And I love that you didn’t use a pattern. I rarely use patterns so it’s nice seeing others being creative and innovative ❤
Muy ingeniosa manera de hacer tu vestido y te quedó hermoso 😊
Love this 🥰BUT how did you tie it in the back❓❓❓
Hi. Awesome and great job. Good for you. Please keep it up. Thank you.
Thank you so much!
The LIKE button is gone! What did you do to anger the UA-cam gods? And yes, I want to like your video.
Yikes!! Don't know what happened there. Hopefully they get it worked out, but thank you for the support regardless of which buttons are available!
I love this dress. The neckline is a statement piece. Just stunning
The second wrap dress that you made is very pretty. I luv the vintage style straps. 😃
You did great! Whenever I trace a garment I put some thick cardboard (the one with the airy middle part). Then pattern paper. I pin to the cardboard. Then tracing. Is so much easier if your garment is not moving much.
That's such a great idea! I'll have to remember that for next time!
The dress looks lovely. I especially like the halter top with the pleated part. It’s a great detail.
Long torso and not revealing v neck. Just what I’m looking for
It looks fantastic and the neckline fix makes it way more interesting! The gaping problem is always going to happen if you're copying a shirt with a higher neckline to make a bodice with a lower neckline; the usual fix is to make any bust darts a bit bigger than you think you need (no idea what you're supposed to do when your bodice is dartless, though)
Wow! It looks so good 😍👌
Luv,luv your fabric. The style of your wrap dress is very pretty. You are becoming a good designer.
Thank you so much! Clothing made out of bedsheets always seem to be some of my favorites.
New subbie here because your dress turned out great and you are so entertaining 👍🏼😂
You have a beautiful figure and the dress is perfect ❤❤❤
Beautiful
this is so inspiring!!! love watching your process! 💗🌸✨
Thank you so much!!
Stunning! Great ideas. Thanks
Thank you for a very nice tutorial! I will try this! :)
I don't remember how your last one went. But this time I think you mastered the dress. Awesome
Thank you! It's definitely not perfect but it's SO much better than the last one. I may have to make a bunch more with this neckline!
Definitely looked very 50's. I like it.
It's nice but it's not right method nevermind so beautiful ❤️
Oh, there's no way it's the right method! It looks good but don't look too carefully at the construction 🤣
Good Job! I like the bodice part better. My question is how do you measure for yourself for the hem, especially with a long dress? I so wish I had someone here to help me to just pin the bottom so it all hangs right! So scared to do it myself~ I haven't sewn for a while & it shows! LoL
I'm not sure this will make any sense, but rather than put the beginning of the measuring tape at your waist, drop it to where you want the skirt to stop. The measurement on the tape will be at your waist. It's almost backwards or upside down to what you may be doing.
I use this technique then measure 4 spots: right and left seam, front center, back center.
@@KatieMakesStuff Thank you! I will give it a try!
The way you make clothes is the way I cook 😂 I'm watching sewing videos bc I'm getting a sewing machine soon and I have a feeling my clothes making will be like this, at least at first. Love the dress! And the idea of smushing well fitting clothes into one piece.
Bloody hell girl that turned out fabbb! 😅
Well done xx
Thank you!! I love it!
I love the 1940's vibe of this dress and it looks lovely on you - mums are always rights 😂
Stunning ❤❤❤
How is it tied?
I need this in a plus sized pattern please!!! Love the neckline!
The bodice is self drafted and it had way too much give in the neck. So I just added a dart at the back neck then pinned in the front neck until it felt 'right'. If you try drafting one yourself, just pin away and see what you come up with. I bet it'll be even better!
Wow❤
Awww, lovely.. looks great on you.. PRETTY!!! ❤😄
Wow, thank you
Looks even better in person!❤
😍😍
It's absolutely gorgeous and that waist...oooh lala 😍 ❤️😊
Thank you so much! It's amazing how much it's improved since last year's attempt.
Turned out super cute
You looked fabulous, brilliant dress
Thank you so much 😀
I love the dress!! Awesome job!
Thank you so much!!
It look so amazing ❤
Thank you so much!
Looks stunning on xx
You are TOO kind!
Awesome job!
