    New DSP and iRs along with line switch. I think the me80 slightly better built but I am only guessing by reviews. I like the me 80. I rather the gt1 I sold due to it's preamps. I can fix this with a preamp pedal but this seems to be a great update. Awesome review man.

    I believe this thing is meant to be used 4 cable with an amp. Which is what id suggest with the gt or gx also. Boss has the only untis that wont color your amps or guitar sound. As a stand alone unit though i hope boss really does homework for furure units though. Every dirt amp boss has done for over 10 years now sounds like a big fizz box lol... And yet a katana sounds incredible which makes 0 sense. Even the cleans on these units sound 20 percent as good as a katana.... Im a big fan of boss.... And all these units are the highest quality as long as your using your anps or gear for the core tone. The ME will be huge though at this price point to use with actual amps including katana esp the artist range

      @@jasontysl2991 every artist whether it's a hobbyist or pro or simply a band member is in this race to go smaller and smaller these days. Though I do love n appreciate what the Katana is....Amps in general are on there way out of existence. Digital units... Helix, fractal, boss, QC, new Fender TMC are getting more and more popular. Pod go and HX stomp sold tons in last 3 years due to its compact simplicity to make complicated tones you simply can't make as easily on katana. Plus to go stereo you just show up with a digital unit in your gig bag with no amp. Most of us will always love amps still me included. But the new latest n greatest gear will not be a amplifier of any kind.

    I'm having a very hard time with the output options on this device, when you go directly in a tube combo amp.
    I know I'm not the only one, since I've read other comments about this
    The fact is when you select the output on "guitar amp" on the switch at the back of the device, and go into your amp (duh..) it sounds crap, especially de distortions.
    On the other hand, when using the "line output", it sounds decent but not great, still very fizzy... So after research, I found that in the global menu, there are 12 output options, where you can select different types (1 is "tube combo 2x12, 2 is tube combo 4x12, 3 is tube combo 1x12 etc...)
    Even then it's very hard to obtain a good sound
    What are you using at the end of your chain? Your demo sounds very good.. What output selection, what output in the global menu?
    Are you directly in a sound card or a desk with a proprietary IR?
    I'm really wondering if this thing is meant to be input directly in a guitar amp?
    Other point, the output is crazy loud. I mean if your amp is on volume 2 at good volume in your apartment, engaging some presets is going to explode your head of.. WTF Boss? Why not unity volume, at least in a "normal" range?
    People are going to be very annoyed right out of the box, and even after some tweaking..
    I'm an experienced guy in guitar sound (not so much with IR stuff and computers) and BOSS should definitely rework the device in the output settings for guys who just want to put it in an amp..

    • @JucaNeryGuitar
      @JucaNeryGuitar  Рік тому +1

      On this video I'm going straight into my audio interface. One of the next videos I will be using the Katana power amp in. So the output section here doesn't matter, it's greyed out. It's better to use the return's amp but it can sound good on an input amp as well, depends on the amp. Yeah, some patches are louder!

      I just purchased this unit. I plug it into the front of my Fender Super Sonic amp (clean channel) and it sounds great without using the preamp settings, however, I find that you will have to back off the preamp gain off considerably in order to control the fizziness - less is more. It's a very usable pedal board without menu diving! I play a lot of live shows so this simple setup is worth the money to me because of simplicity. The preamp settings may sound less desirable while played on their own, but in the mix of a live band, they cut through the mix, except for mid scooped high gain amps.

    • @rodolphep0nthus555
      @rodolphep0nthus555 Рік тому

      @@fotog04 Hi there. Yes I totally agree with you. But the preamp section just sounds like crap, I find that the amp emulations are just too bad, and I won't use them. So to me a whole section of the device is just unusable. Yes the rest is pretty good. Love the freeze section.. But I also discovered that the MIX /Volume knob on the modulation section acts mainly as a volume.. So you cannot mix the effect low and keep the volume to unity.. Crap decision. And I am a bit underwhelmed by the modulation section.. It doesn't sound as good as I was expecting.. It brings that aggressive high mid thing that seems to be everywhere in this device (especially in the preamp models)
      Moreover, the volume is crazy loud, it is not well calibrated.. You have to modify 90% of the factory patches. It's just too many let downs for me to keep. Too bad. It will be good for some, but not for me. I'm going to get the Helix HX effects instead. Really don't need all that preamp modeling and cab emulations stuff. If Boss would give us a ME90 with only FX.. But after a few days I find them very digital sounding, especially the modulation section which is just a no no for me with the way they have made the MIX control more of a VOLUME control..

    Good demo. However, seems Boss has gone backward with this. It doesn't sound useful in the preset mode as if you change the patch you can't know what parameters are being used unless it's hooked to BTS or with some counting of numbers. They could have it have used hybrid knobs with LEDs to overcome this. For use just as a compact "pedal" board, it might be useful, with on-the-fly adjustments!

    Do you prefer this to the GX100,I found the GX confusing

    • @JucaNeryGuitar
      @JucaNeryGuitar  Рік тому

      This one's easier, the GX still has some stuff extra that I prefer and need.

      @CedricSatterfield Рік тому +2

      I think the GX is a lot better than the GT, but the GX does have some things that the ME doesn't have, and vice versa- like, the ME90 has the pickup simulator that the GX doesn't have, but the GX allows you to pretty much do effect chains however you want, while the ME automatically changes them around virtually depending on what is selected.
