Absolutely listen to a live recording! Lovejoy live is a whole other experience.
The band has a tendency to change certain older songs, like the intro to Cause For Concern or the "Its ok, Anything to make me feel less numb" lyrics in Its All Futile. Wilbur is also super dramatic with his performance, which makes it all the more fun to watch.
The call and response part of live is the best part tho. I can't listen to Lovejoy anymore without singing the response parts LOL. Lovejoy live is just overall crazy good, arguably better than the studio recordings, especially on their most recent tour.
A good recent perspective with a good front-row view is Ellen Bashore. They have a playlist with their Lovejoy gig recordings in order if anyone wants to watch :)

Loving the mention of Tommy, Tommy is a close friend / (not related) younger brother of Wilbur and the band.Wilbur and Tommy met back in SMP Earth in 2019 I’m pretty sure :) by the way in the fall live, you can here james marriot, when it says ‘and the ramblers will say! MJames says what will they say?’

edit: also tommy is a close friend of the band - he kept a lot of the songs that they where going to cut on the albums (wilbur says that tommy is his 'younger brother')

The fall goes SO hard live it's so good! Another one that goes so hard live is Sex Sells. There is just a vibe at their concerts you don't get at other concerts. If you can you need to go to one!
at 7:03 you mention tommy while reading band members (I think lmao) even though tommy isn’t a part of lovejoy many people call him “unofficial 5th member of lovejoy” just because he was there with them from the start. Tommy also has a youtube channel called tommyinnit (also he has a vlog channel tom simons and a group channel with wilbur and other friends called sorry boys) fun fact tommy was the reason perfume wasn’t scrapped. Tommy basically really liked the song and just asked not to scrap it

I would reccomend concrete, model busses and you'll understand when you're older, there my all time favorite lovejoy songs. Also the ending of the fall is so cool! It's definetley up there with the best stuff they've made

If you like Wilbur and Lovejoy music I recommend Los Campesinos! As they are Wilbur’s favorite band and inspire so much of his music and I recommend James Marriott if you like the indie rock vibe

its all futile its all pointless is one of my all time favorite wilbur songs and has been for years so when i saw that they would release a lovejoy version i was pretty skeptical but also excited and the definitely didnt disappoint
like both versions are so different but absolutely amazing
IIRC they actually did have trumpets on Pebble Brain but I might be misremembering. They definitely have at least one trumpet on tour with them rn!

so the music video was actually edited by another UA-camr “greenforsure” who did thier own version of IAFIAP with “Coolona” if you look it up it sounds just as good as the other 2 versions ❤

9:51 (The reams of grey stencils that fill the tapestry)
10:02 (Across the Pennines, there's a thin blue line, a knife, and a mall)
10:05 (I would do something, if it wasn't all so effortful)
And these are just the big mistakes, I'm not including misspellings
I love the guitar in The Fall, it's great
the fall came on and i started playing along as i had my guitar in hand. my string snapped on the breakdown, that song is too lethal. i demand compensation! /j

Sadly, Oh Yeah You’re Gonna Cry is their official least favorite song. Like, the band members themselves don’t like it. It was officially retired from their set list last week I believe.
It’s all futile it’s all pointless is actually a lovejoy remake of wilburs song. Wilburs original it’s all futile (I think) was in the maybe I was boring EP and was written slower and on acoustic. The new lovejoy version has a few lyric changes and sounds obviously more like lovejoy than wilburs solo music but I’d highly recommend listening to the original acoustic version
