golden hour wasn't initially listed because of an inside joke between the band and us fans! they had said they would've probably scrapped golden hour to mess with us and see how desperate we would have been to have it back (spoiler: it worked). they also dropped some hints to it actually being in the ep in the last few days, like wilbur using text on an instagram story to cover the bottom of the track list on the cd!
Was waitin’ for this. The whole EP is just a intense rollercoaster of emotions

I know, from PoaBS, to Consequences, to Warsaw, to Scum, to IGHS, they're all so different! I can't pick a favourite
@@Purplesome_ i think consequences is my favourite, because of that "cause i haven't slept in about a week, i stay up thinking i will dieee!" part. warsaw is most likely my second favourite, and scum my third.

17:54 Fun fact, that note you noticed in the guitar line is an A natural, and it sounds so crunchy because Scum’s key is Ab major, so we got that clash with the tonal center of all things (excuse my music theory rambling😂)

Kinda sad to see the trumpets go, but happy there's a replacement for them with the synth adding that extra dynamic. But, I do really hope they bring back those trumpets, they sounded awesome
It's Golden Hour Somewhere is probably my favorite, I love the tempo shift for the chorus. The synth on this album is great, and I love the use of going from half time and back to the original beat in Portrait. I hope they do more weird stuff on their next release!
I really prefered the live version over the studio one, due to the changings they made in the chorus part.
@@paper4732 honestly same. They could've made the first few lines of the chorus in the final version a bridge before the 2nd chorus instead of part if the chorus as a whole.

i love the lyrics in its golden hour somewhere ‘we’re all on a cfit, so take what you see fit’ like that is so clever wilbur is such a good lyricist
in case you haven't been told via the comments: the talking at the end of warsaw is Joe! He is the other guitarist in the band! (he does some of the singing parts too) ((also Portrait of a Blank Slate is one of my top favorites from this EP))
FYI the bass player is called Ash, the drums player is Mark bad the guitarist is Joe :) (my pfp is Wilbur with a wig)

@@yogurtyearner according to james marriott he said that ash had only been learning bass for a few month / years (unsure on how long) but picked it up quickly as he mainly plays guitar

A portrait of a blank slate has my heart I think it might be my new favourite
I love how unpredictable and interesting the melodies are on this!! When you think the segment will end in a way, it just completely goes to another one, Scum is my favorite from the EP and probably one of my favorites from Lovejoy

I normally take a while to warm up to music, so the other songs could take CMWYL's top spot in time, but this EP is so good.

cmwyl was also my favourite but its golden hour somewhere immediately stole its spot for me

The synth on consequences is one of the best things ive ever heard. I loved the song when i heard it live but the synth seals the deal. Got to say i think i can hear more influences on this ep than other things lovejoys done. Portrait Of A Blank Slate has a swim school vibe to it, Consequences reminds me of the Killers and Warsaw's opening is reminiscent of Good Kid. Personally i love that but yeah amazing ep and reaction

And just to say CMWYL is one of my favorite songs of all time so the fact that I’m putting 3 songs from the album above it is saying just how good this album is
And the only reason why Portrait of a Blank Slate and Golden Hour are so low is because I listen to music while doing other tasks and the vocals not being as forward make me not able to really listen to the song and dissociate and make a full opinion on it
(Oh and I recommend listening to Los Campesinos! if you like Wilbur because they influence a lot of his writing)

@@gvnlessktchn im so glad im not the only person who has that desensitised feeling for cmwyl cause like i know i love it but i haven't like enjoyed it fully in a while. The spotify singles version however has one of the best choruses
