Good reaction! But, it is a lot more straightforward in that by not based on the internet, but mostly based on an open purely physical relationship that the singer is in and him cashing feelings for them whilst they are fooling around in a pub.

"Call me what you like is an idea about that stage where you are in a relationship but you are not sure if you are like, ready for the next step, beyond like just physicalness you know. Ready for a romantic on if you know what I mean" - Wilbur (lead singer and lyricist)

The singer of Lovejoy did a genius interview explaining the meaning of the song! I think it could help you guys understand the meaning better!
Just as a warning the singer was very "tired" during the interview but it's still very good

Love joy isn’t “his’ the singers music, it is a collective of group of mark (drummer), joe (guitar), ash (bassist) and Wilbur (singer). Wilbur doesn’t want the band to be “his’ band ( he is a well know streamer/content creator) he want it to be separate entity known for being the 4 of them that make the music together.. btw love the reaction 😃

the lyrics ‘and i’ve found that the road to happiness is paved, with rows and rows, of very tempting parking spaces’ is an indication of when you’re in a very poor mental state, and you’re trying to get better or trying to find your own happiness, there’s loads of times where you’re tempted to give up on life, hence the ‘very tempting parking spaces’. so it’s basically hinting to the fact that you shouldn’t give up, you shouldn’t commit suicide, that you need to keep going because you will reach happiness and life will get better, no matter how hard it seems

the guy on the left is my favourite person now he gets it lmao i know every word to every lovejoy song and anytime i listen to them my family probably thinks im a nutter because the lyrics are so cryptic and odd if you dont have the context of the song

Alright, so basically before they said very many parking spaces they said the road to happiness so there’s a road right and happiness is at the end but there’s people that you can go see and be happy with the further you go you’ll be happier but will you stop at the beginning or keep on going and how far will you go? How far are you willing to go? And with the whole entire para social, think that’s totally wrong Basically he thinks of the scrolling really likes to school but kinda like an open relationship so this girl is running over and doing stuff with other guys and he’s like you can’t stay awake forever, so you can’t just do this every single night. You eventually have to sleep and how he is trying to like her even though she doesn’t like him.

I see it as unriquited affection... giving more than you receive, but still being willing to accept hurt with the hope that you will eventually receive the affection back from that person. Toxic, but unfortunately common.

If you want to know what Lovejoy songs are about, imagine that everyone you know has fallen in love except for you.
    Just you.
You're TRYING to fall in love, you've molded yourself to fit SO many partners, but you can never quite give them what they want (and vice versa them for you)
TL;DR - Lovejoy songs are for allosexual aromantics: when you want someone physically as a bed partner, and care deeply about them as a lifelong friend, but can't muster up the thing society calls romantic love. As Meatloaf sang, "Two Outta Three Ain't Bad."
