You should react to los campesinos!, it’s who knee deep at ATP was originally by!
@@matildaaecyh, I'd listen to Knee Deep at atp, then the album of Romance is Boring, as a suggestion for Mat
This is my 36th of many times asking you to listen to the Guilty Gear Strive character themes
I will ask you this every single video until you make a video of them
begging on my HANDS AND *KNEES* for you to check out some tunes from a fresh li'l pipin' hot Indie game called *Pizza Tower.*
It has absolutely ZERO reason to go off as hard as it does, sometimes rivaling (if not SURPASSING) what Toby's written.
Some of my choice picks would be It's Pizza Time!, Thousand March, Pizzascape, and Pepperman, but there's not a single bad song on that soundtrack so they're all worth a listen
thanks bruv, you too
Fun fact: model buses is actually about Boris Johnson. The buses and reference to an interview when Boris was asked about his hobbies and he said he makes model buses. The bikes are reference to the Boris Bikes around london which people can hire. Its told from the perspective of meeting him in a pub and just having a chat with him. Another fun fact is that the line "Mother says you're up your own arse like stage hand at puppet show but hell what does she know" is a reference to Wilbur's mother who was a puppeteer

Ok so the Concrete music video was actually all un-scripted. That’s why all the faces are blurred out because they’re all strangers, and they did actually get kicked out of the bar
wait actually? thats crazy man
Woah actually
the part with the bouncer is scripted but I’m not sure about the rest of the people in the bar
oml lol
thats not true lmfao the getting kicked out was scripted but the people in the bar weren't extras they were just random people
"Call Me What You Like" blew my mind the first time I heard it, I absolutely love it
Same.
2nd comment
Can confirm they didn’t greenscreen the backgrounds behind the physical greenscreen! They posted some behind the scenes stuff and they did just roll a huge greenscreen into a gift shop lmao
My favourite lyric from Call Me What You Like is "I've found that the road to happiness is paved with rows and rows of very tempting parking spaces". Its just such a good metaphor that I've not encountered before, but perfectly describes a feeling that I'm sure many of us share.
@EnderCat wanna try that one again bud?
why did their comment make me laugh so hard 😭😭 so close buddy, try one more time but sound it out this time
@EnderCat that’s probably my favourite lyric line!
I stim so hard when that line happens
@EnderCat the lyrics are " I'm not paranoid, I'm a realist. I KNOW YOU'RE GONNA KILL ME" not " I'm not a paranoias I'm a realist i know you gonna kill me" that's what they mean
I think that it helps to have the context that Wilbur wrote It's All Futile, It's All Pointless back in 2019 (which is also when the album Your City Gave Me Asthma came out, it was a song he felt didn't fit on the album so he released it as part of the Maybe I Was Boring Ep which featured songs that he still liked but didn't have the vibe he was going for).
He has stated that it was a time when he was struggling and that his music was a way to cope with things. He gave the community Your City Gave Me Asthma as he doesn't feel that he owns the feelings in that album anymore and that they don't apply anymore (with the exception of perhaps Saline Solution which was written about his hypochondria). Additionally, he's explained that the album Pebblebrain (which IAFIAP is part of) is a breakup album with the country of England.
There is a clip from one of Wilbur's streams uploaded by Clem Everett titled "Wilbur Soot explains the meaning of his songs (Your City Gave Me Asthma, Lovejoy)" where you can hear him reiterate what I've paraphrased above as well as hear the additional meanings that he gave for the lyrics of several songs that I didn't include in this comment.
if lovejoy ever does a live show in australia you should defo try to go and record it and then ‘react’ to that because all the songs slap so much more live
oh my god he’s in australia???? i had no idea LMAO
and i very much do hope lovejoy comes here one day!
As long as the tickets dont get sold out by bots
If they ever do shows in Australia I’m buying tickets the second they’re announced
I'm going to see em live and I can't wait.
DON'T WORRY! I saw them live and they acknowledged the trumpet player :) they seemed super friendly
my favourite part is the destructive story of CMWYL, At first, he's apathetic to the panic going through the plane. At moments, he has outbursts of anger but for the most part he doesn't react. As the song goes on further, he gets more and more angry, more and more destructive. He finds himself becoming so destructive that his friends distance themselves from him, replacing their kindness with fake dummys of what use to be. Then at the very end, he's going out of his way to pull himself closer and closer to the end, becoming angrier, pulling away from his friends who are desperately trying to help him and pull him away from the edge. He's holding his friends back from living their lives because they're devoting their time to trying to save him, but they cant do it forever. His friends give up, letting him walk to the end of the plane and face the consequences (haha) of his destructive downfall. Only once he's walked over the edge does he snap back to reality and realise what he's done. The fallout of his actions. He desperately tries to run back to his friends, away from the fallout (the crash), but at that point.. everyone's left, its too late.
He didn't show us his reaction to Quackity holding up both middle fingers, we've been robbed /j
Seriously, I love these videos. It's so relaxing to watch :)
STAY CALM ITS HAPPENING
EVERYBODY STAY CALM
@@MathewMcKenna STAY F*CKING CALM
The way Lovejoy design their album covers and edit their videos is so unique and immaculate, I love it. :)
Yea
I love how the lyrics are either silly or sad
This was an absolute delight to watch! I think Call Me What You Like is something about a failing relationship, where the girl is sleeping with as many men as possible to make her feel better, but at the end of the day she "can't stay awake forever," and has to face the consequences of her actions and/or deal with the real reason why she's unhappy. And Wilbur is the one letting her do whatever she wants with him, because he genuinely cares for her, and just wants some type of affection, but also has some severe trust issues and insecurities ( not him actually, but the song lyric story character he plays). And everyone else knows their relationship is going to crash and burn, and tries to help him get out alive, but he doesn't and then it's too late.
THIS IDEA IS ACTUALLY SO COOL OMG, and it fits perfectly!!!!
To film a few of the videos they grabbed a green screen and ran around Brighton , my cousin in Brighton said she saw them running around it was hilarious apparently.
There's actually 1 more song in their discography that you haven't heard yet, it's a cover of Privately Owned Spiral Galaxy by Crywank. Honestly it's one of my favorite songs of theirs, despite being a cover.
Also, I'd love to see a reaction to the band Red Vox! They're one of my favorite bands, and I think you'd enjoy them!
SAME!!! Tbh I like it way better than the original!
@@sanri0hub Me too!! I especially love the outro. They NEED to play it live someday, and I better be there!
@@pizzarellaytyess!
I am happy to see ur reaction! I was really wondering what ur reaction would be to these songs!
Can I recommend listening to Epic The Musical songs, they are so good! Some of them as equally disturbing as they are beautiful, but if you do listen to them, you have to do it in order so you can sorta understand the story
REAL
What makes “It’s All Futile, It’s All Pointless” a really good song is the fact that Wilbur wrote it a year or two ago and the song originally was part of a 13-minute song that was released in 2020 I think. The original was only him and a guitar.
Omg, please, please, please react to Los Campesinos! someday. I'd love to see your reaction to their songs! They have a very cool sound and great lyrics, they're like the only band with such a big discography that I listen to and can sing to every song of. Great reaction as always!
LC! is my favourite band and I discovered them because of Wilbur (before they did Knee Deep at ATP). There's definitely a lack of reaction content to them on youtube
This just in.... I am having an existential crisis.
But it bops!!
I need you to listen to the new loveJoy EP wake up & it’s over. They’ve taken everything to a whole other level. It’s insane
wilbur got model buses from boris johnson when he said he makes models of buses to relax
Pretty sure CMWYL is about a toxic relationship that you stay in despite knowing it is bad and only try to leave once it's too late. The plane crashing is the end of the relationship and Wilbur dying is pretty much just a super messy breakup. He tries to get out in the end but cannot truly escape since he stayed in too long
model busses is kind of making fun of Boris Johnson and the way he always portrays himself as 'just a silly lil guy' who likes model busses and riding his bike. but he's 'scared of the future' bc he's from the Conservative party
Hope you review their new ep out, im gonna call it your gonna like portrait just because of the bass line :)
I REMEBER WHEN LOVEJOY FIRST STARTED WITH THINGS I AM SO PROUD SEEING WHERE THEY ARE AND WHAT IS TO COME IN THE FUTURE I LOVE THESE SONGS SO MUCH
Knee Deep at ATP is actually a cover but Lovejoy did such a good job at it and made it fit their vibe so well
You NEED to finish the heathers songs, watch the movie, and musical please I beg you
I SECOND THIS
im pretty sure call me what you like is about a crashing relationship, and the music video is basically representing that pretty well. ignoring all the things going on around you, until you start breaking down while people are trying to pull you out but you refuse, and when you realize, its too late
I've never heard Lovejoy before, but now that I have, the style reminds me a whole lot of an indie band called Death Cab For Cutie, and I am LIVING FOR IT!!
Sometimes I forget how much i love their songs
YES! Love your videos Matt, good to see you reacting you Lovejoy again!
fun fact, for lovejoy's spotify description it used to say "the only band with a double kick drum", so you're not wrong :)
dude you definitely need to react to their latest EP! love your bids btw 🫶🏻
Lovejoy is so good. If you ever want to I recommend you react to the musical Ride the Cyclone- the songs are all over the place in genre and I think you'd enjoy it. All the songs are all wonderful and I would love to see you react to it
Its always a good day when Mathew reacts to Lovejoy :D
you should react to James Marriott! he's one of Wilbur's friends and his music is really good!
I was so excited for this video! CMWYL is one of my favorite Lovejoy songs already so it was so cool to see you react to that and the music videos of the other songs! :D
In sextant whene it was a lovejoy conceret WILBUR CHANGED THE LIRYCS AND ADDED "and you guys make me feel less numb" LIKE IM SO HAPPY THATS SO SWEET
This aged well
I WAS REALLY EXCITED TO SEE YOU REACT TO CALL ME WHAT YOU LIKE, IT'S SUCH A BANGER
i was looking for Lovejoy reactions yesterday and then today you post this? amazing. thank you so much. and you even reacted to knee deep at ATP!!!! that's one of my favorites of theirs (even if it's a cover)
You should do a video on Los Campesinos! They are one of Lovejoy's and Wilbur's main influences and are really good
YOO i've watched your julie and the phantoms hamilton reactions how did i not realise you did lovejoy and wilbur too?? you really have reacted to all my favourite stuff
Listening to this song right when it dropped in my timezone, I was so excited both before listening, while listening, and after listening!! I was genuinely so happy listening to CMWYL the first time, literally shaking. It’s such a good song and I love how far they’ve all come :D
Absolutely love lovejoy and their music. I do have a person who you could react to, James Marriott, Wilbur and James are good friends (: his music is also amazing
2:20 man said london like london has a beach 😭😭 bro this is brighton!
also they did lit just set up a greenscreen all over random streets in brighton, you can see behind the scenes in @ashkabosu (the bassist)‘s vlogs
WHEN ARE YOU DOING INSIDE OUTTAKES PLEASE : (also great vid i’m so glad you’re listening to more lovejoy lots o’ love)
Finally another video. I love ur content Mathew
IVE WAITED FOR THIS FOR SO LONG
lovejoy is one of my favorite bands im glad your listening to their songs again. hope everyone is having a great day as well
the one doing the trumpets is isaac beer! he does trumpets at their live gigs too and hes a pretty talented dude 👍
YEAHHH I WAS WAITING FOR THIS
they have a new album out please part 2 !!
I was waiting to see your reaction to the new song!
We love Mathew McKenna listening and watching everything your hyperfocussing on
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS AND IM SO HAPPY
*For anyone curious and wanting to check LoveJoy out;*
Start with the "Are you Alright?" EP ( its just 4 songs) and then the Peeble Brain Ep (as much as i love the AYA? EP, I think they really hit a stride with Peeble Brain, specially when you hit The Fall), then LJ's solo songs, Knee deep cover and THEN Call me What you like
Then maybe go onto Wilbur's solo stuff if you want a treat (Your City Gave Me Asthma Album, its arguably his best solo album, then Maybe I was boring EP, tho im not as big fan as it but its still not bad)
Also Wilbur has a solo parody music series the "E-Girl" Trilogy. Its more memey with him portraying a "Nice Guy" during the songs but that doesn't mean they arnt amazingly made, Your New Boyfriend is a bop!
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO
whoohoo another Mathew music review yeaayyy
Model Busses is my second favorite Lovejoy song and Oh Yeah You Gonna Cry? is my favorite.
Knee Deep at ATP is originally about the main singer from Los Campesinos! meeting a girl at a festival (ATP festival specifically) and forming a strong connection, but then finding out she hadn't told him she had a boyfriend.
Also please listen to Los Campesinos!
Yes finally I've been waiting for this!!!
It is relatively unknown for some reason but Lovejoy has also done a cover of Privately owned spiral galaxy by Crywank
oh god, listening to cmwyl after the lovecord cmwyl anniversary event is painful...
(for anyone who doesn't know they played a cmwyl one hour loop during the event, played the simlish version, played a mashup and more of cmwyl-)
My guy, you gotta react to their album Wake Up & It’s Over already it’s been out since mid-May😭😭
It feels so surreal to think about the fact that me and a lot of other people are considered “OG fans” now
Woah I just found you today and have been binge watching your mlp related videos and didn’t expect to see my favorite band here as well
Also WU&IO exists and are some of my favorite songs currently
I've been waiting for this
you need to do the new ep!!
*me skips to end*
"You may have skipped just to get to this one"
I feel guilty now
Model buses is about former uk prime minister Boris Johnson! When asked what he does in his free time, he said that he likes to build model buses.
Many people saw that as him trying to seem 'normal' and relatable to the british public but idk 🤷
AND AND AND the plane in CMWYL is a metaphor for the relationship that hes singing about! It all went crashing down but he didnt want to leave it :)
i’ve listened to all of Wilbur/Lovejoy’s songs, and i’m gonna be honest,
Call me what you like,
losing face,
it’s all futile it’s all pointless,
a song for guilty sadist,
i’m a familiar creak in your floor boards, since I saw Vienna, and
The Fall
are definitely my favourites
"I forgot about the new addition to the food pyramid" JSHDHDNXHXH AAAA LMAOOOOO
Putting it out there again that Pizza Tower has some awesome music and I'd love to see your reaction to it. As for what to start with, I'd go with these songs first:
-Pizza Deluxe!
-Unearthly Blues
-Cold Spaghetti
-Hot Spaghetti
-Oregano Mirage
-It's Pizza Time!
(PS, don't let the fact that I listed "It's Pizza Time!" last make you think it's unimportant, it is ESSENTIAL that if you react that Pizza Tower music, you need to hear this tune. I just thought it'd be more appropriate if it's the last one you listen to for the video.)
We need this to get more likes
Add the death that I deservioli and I’m game (I’ll also take the unexpectancy trio or crumbling tower of pizza)
@@superspun9944 I don't want to have him react to Unexpectancy right away, I want to build him up to it (because I guess in my mind I see him doing several video reactions to the OST).
im absolutely obsessed with the cmwyl music video using a crashing plane that you refuse to leave as a metaphor for a relationship
Fun fact! It’s All Futile It’s All Pointless might sound more depressing or jarring in the lyrics because it was on an EP called Maybe I Was Boring that was released around the time that he released Your City Gave Me Asthma, which from what I remember the Maybe I Was Boring EP is a collection of scrapped songs from Your City Gave Me Asthma which from what you remember when he wrote Your City Gave Me Asthma he wasn’t in the best state of mind, I along with many others was ecstatic to see It’s All Futile It’s All Pointless released on a more production quality with loads of not only his talent but the entire insanely talented band decide to tackle and release
BTW they used to have the slogan "The only indie rock band with a double kick drum"
Yesssss a new Lovejoy reaction!!!!
lovejoy is goated
Knee deep is a cover of a song by a band call los campesinos
Sometimes you just gotta Live, Laugh, Lovejoy you know?
(I know that this comment is pretty random, but my brain thought of that sentence weeks ago and it’s been stuck in my head ever since. Hopefully getting it out will allow me to think about other stuff)
Love the video! Hope you have a lovely day!
Mathew letsgooo, watching your reaction rn :D
that was a good reaction! loved it! cant wait for more lovejoy and then your reaction :D WOOOO!!!
Fuck ever since the Wilbur thing, I haven't watch or listen to anything with Wilbur in it and I-
Fuck, I miss this
Great reaction btw Matthew
For the Model Buses music video- yes, yes they did carry a green screen around and filmed as they stood in front of it. They have some behind the scenes stuff showing the green screen without the edits, and its this small green screen they took into gift shops and by the water to air guitar in front of for this ^-^
It’s all Futile, It’s all Pointless is a remaster of a song from an unreleased album! I was going to be a song in Your City Gave Me Asthma which is why the lyrics are oddly sad compared to the others from Penble Brain :]
09:27 Well, it's just _a modest proposal_
PLEASE LISTEN TO THIER NEW ONE IM BEGGING
You should definitely hear his new solo album mammalian sighing reflex and react to it it's so sad
i love these songs sm and its so funny to see people be like are these bros good with their lyrics that are.. questionable : )
you have to listen to his new EP bro its so gooooood 😭
Call Me What You Like is incredible dude
You should listen to the full new album, it has a music video too, love the video
Lmao the "Now that I've said that I bet the next one is slow and depressing" and then he played Knee Deep at ATP
Lovejoy has feelings and makes me feel happy.
Edit: You mentioned Dream SMP at the beginning and that reminded me that Derivakat has made fan songs for the DSMP. I think you'd like Derivakat's songs. Not just the DSMP ones but the others too.
10:44 Los Campesinos are my favourite band
Fun Fact: Hold On Now Youngster (the album with Kneed deep at ATP) just turned 15 years old and Los Campesinos are selling posters for the anniversary and I ended up buying a poster and $150 of merch on impulse (whoops lol)
I highly highly HIGHLY recommend you listen to Chonny Jash’s album Chonny’s Charming Chaos Compendium! It’s an album that both covers, partially rewrites, and adds onto Tally Hall songs to create a whole new album long narrative(tho each song has its own self contained narrative that can be enjoyed in isolation). I personally recommend the three part cover of The Mind Electric(The Heart Acoustic, The Mind Electric, and The Soul Eclectic), The Bidding, and Hidden in the Sand!
