It's a great opportunity to test the dirt orientation of the 2022 Triumph Rally Pro. Unfortunately the dominant wet weather pattern called La Nina dashes our hopes of reaching our goal, but the journey is still worth it as we punch out long dirt kilometres on the bikes.

That low level camera pan in dust and sunlight at 26:30 is magic (with product placement). This is what makes MAD tv stand out. While it takes a long time to edit, and prep, it makes for a brilliant episode. Well done lads.

Thank Ross. A huge amount of effort not only shooting but editing these longer length movies and unfortunately not much reward in terms of views. I have 150,000 subscribers and most can't be bothered watching.

@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV My kids and I watch pretty much everything you post, especially the adventures. My 18 year old daughter and 16 year old son got their licenses back in February of this year. 2022 Triumph Rally Pro looks like good mile muncher, having shaft drive like BMW ,Yamaha and Moto Guzzi just makes it that much easier. This was a great presentation of your ride, the drone shots give a great perspective how remote you and Arkaroola South Australia is out there into the middle of nowhere.

YES, i think the Tiger is a good fit, in respect that you have lots of models to choose from, to match your riding needs. Yet to read a poor review on the models. For me, its Cooktown bound via inland county towns, thus August. My weapon of choice?.. Tiger 1200 GT Pro.

Excellet way to do a proper Tiger test. I'm almost sold on getting one, just don't know how well they handle deep sandy bits. Wife urges me on with comfortable pillion saddle, but I'm gonna be the one picking it up when things go pear shaped. All these mid/large adv bikes have some comprimise you just have to accept and press on. Also helps that I have a nearby Triumph dealer less than an hour away. Great content, looks like piles of fun. I can't believe how good this 1200cc shaftie is in the dirt. It's an amazing bike for the different road surfaces whether dirt, sand, gravel or mud. It has comfort and is a great tourer and would be far cheaper to run buy and service than BMW or KTM for example but for a day to day bike that's really good a honda, Yamaha is cheaper and really good but this is at another level from other bikes in general to cope with everything plus the range and brakes, suspension, handling is great, you need them with those dodgy roos jumping out in front of you at night. Those red male roos are huge, solid. We had them on the sheep farm I worked at for a few months. The hardest job I've ever done in my life and I was fit doing wing Chun Kung Fu at the time in Adelaide.

Listening to your bike issues with standing and sitting and weight distribution. This is what you need to do.
Set your bike up for SAG. Front and rear the same. Riding gear luggage. Full of fuel and all. Put your bike in a bike tire chock and have your buddy / friend / amigo measure the distance between the axle and bottom of the shock. While your sitting in the seat foot on the pegs. I set mine for 2 1/2 inches of sag fully loaded fro t and rear. So when I stand or sit the bike is always compliant and center balanced. After your rally ride remember your daily settings and switch back. I'm an ex -Superbike racer.

I currently ride the 900 rally pro, at 5’6” not the wisest choice but they look so good. Now i have done a couple of 800+ mile days riding through Europe and have to say, while the days were long, the comfort with the heated seat etc was fantastic.
I recently thought about trying out the 1200, although i would need to go for the GT because they have made them even taller, then i went and toppled over on the bike down a side street when turning, popped up on the path and when i went to dab my foot, the road was too far away.
Im wondering what a speedmaster would be like to tour on 🤔

This was a great "long movie length feature" you guys seemed to have a great time. Although the rains were coming in it would of been good to see an attempt at Cameron's corner even if you would of gotten wet. I think it's good to see how the professionals would of tackled the potential tricky situation. Although I'm sure you knew what you guys would of been in for. Its the couch potatoes who can't get out would of had more of an adrenaline rush enjoying you guys talking about ya sphincters. Also while on that subject would of been good to see some night riding behind the trucks. Pictures were fabulous maybe to much colour grading at the head of the show but then maybe not just magic hour throughout. Saw clubby putting 98 fuel in would of liked a report on the fuel costs. I was thinking one time at a fuel stop 5.8 litres per 100 km. 30 litre tank so roughly 500 km per tank and that's a bit of stick and cruising. My CRF 300 L 7.4 litres and 250 KMs per tank so if I carry a bladder, Primus bottle and rota container in combination could easily travel along without anyone thinking this guy's got a little tank. So 15 litres . Then the counterbalance of the engine/ seat concepts/ adv tyres / soft grips/good suspension and full throttle the unstoppable Honda it could easily be done keeping up with the Triumphs. That's if doing no more than 120 kph. So on arrival I've got the benefit of the light weight orientated trail bike experience. Of course some GPS tower like mark has on his KTM 500. Well I've crapped on a little there but think tank capacity is not everything.
The triumph looks great just another big beast that I wouldn't be able to pickup or get out of some bog holes if the rain did set in. Really to have these beast's ya have to be a good rider to have fun otherwise your just touring but having a light weight dual sport would be much more fun on arrival. Which I think you guys would of done say if you were on ya 701. Although I know this was a test run for the triumph but the little red rooster would of done the trick except for black top comfort.
Bugger UA-cam, a great feature and not a frustrating short clip. I think Dave when you advertise up coming events is enough and we can set our reminder bell. Keep up the great work. Cheers The Duke.

I had a triumph Daytona 900 and if it was under 5000 rpm below 80mph it was really economical for a large motor but above 5000 and harder acceleration it would drop below 40mpg otherwise o was getting a good 50mpg on a long run. The tiger would be similar I imagine. It was a lovely triple engine . So torquey .

Another excellent video Dave, always love watching your adventures. Owning a Tiger 1200 GT Pro, I was very interested to hear you opinion of the Rally version. Plus I can never get enough of the Australian landscape.
In regards to the fuel anxiety, I've found the indicated range to be very conservative. I have the 20 litre version and even when the range has gone down to basically 0, I could only get 18ish litres in it. I would love to know how much fuel it took when you were down to 17km of range left?

How did the Anakee wilds hold up being on a big bike loaded up and doing big klms ?
    Keep up the awesome work.

I did 4000km on mostly gravel, 25 kg load. I'm about 100kg in kit, on a 701. Nordic TET. Wilds did well, no punctures but battered at 4000km. I'm now using Moroz Rallz on the 701, but once I replace the tyres on my 900 Rally Pro I reckon Anakee Wilds again. Possibly Rallz. They are a really good all purpose tyre.

Those tyres on the Triumph looked like Anakee Wilds. If so, how did they handle the kilometres, and did you mess with the pressures between conditions ? Also, how effective were the lights in the night ? Loving the video thanks.

Didn't mess with pressures. Kept them reasonably high. They did all right. Not preferred choice of tyre, but I need to declare I am supported by. Pirelli. That aside I was buying Pirelli way before I was supported by them.

Regarding the kangaroos at night, the only time I did hit one was whilst following a truck! Luckily I was in a (borrowed) car at the time rather than on my bike. The ‘roo came belting in from the side of the road, possibly confused by the passage of the truck. So - I have abandoned plans to follow trucks at night!

Amazing countryside and nice bike. Currently on late model super tenere and it performs well in this kind of riding. Would the tiger be worth it for a upgrade?. Cheers

Just about to depart soon for yet another crossing of the Nullarbor...on my 2016 SuperTenere., to Melbourne. I also have contemplated the switch to the Triumph, but the SuperTenere is just so comfortable and does the job so well. Yes, the Triumph is lighter, and that 30 litre tank has an attraction all its own, but is that enough to make me sell the T10 ? Only time, and possibly this video will tell. Somehow all the extra tech is maybe not enough to sway me to become disloyal.

Definitely major drawbacks on this bike are having to stop to change traction modes gets ridiculous if you are on and off tarmac like many of our rides are. By comparison when a good mate is riding his with me on my KTM I have 9 traction control settings on the fly.
Second is the air filter location, just absurd for adventure riding where it absolutely will be dusty.
Repairing a rear tyre takes 7 tools to pull the wheel out.
Apart from that they're fantastic bikes
