God I totally agree with your point. I've started watching Jujutsu Kaisen this month. Almost done with the first season. I don't think it is even better than Chainsaw Man. The characters are ok. Battles are ok. I think that battles in Vinland Saga are way more impressive. I don't hate Jujutsu Kaisen. But I also don't feel like I'm getting that much from it. This idea of having a powerful demon sealed inside the main character's body keep reminding me of Naruto. I'm gonna finish watching the show so I can keep up with the memes. But, seriously, my heart was racing faster while watching "The Dangers in My Heart" season 2 lol.

Like ok the igris fight was visually great, but id take just frieren vs clone until fern shots the zoltraak, over every fight in solo leveling. Nothing there had any emotional impact for me. Even worse sun jing woo keeps yappin about how strong those enemys are, just to annihilate them anyway, every time. Like are they challenging, or are they trash mobs? Cuz you say one thing and do the other. Like its fine if you enjoyed it, but dont tell me THAT was "peak" anime.

Dont get me wrong, I loved demonslayer, jjk and such but I dont think I would put any of them in my top 10, they look nice and are fun to watch but none of em taught me something new or changed the way I think. Meanwhile frieren literally made me closer to my family and friends and fundamentally changed how I think about interactions on a day to day basis. Even helped me grieve for some people Ive lost.

Can you fix the quality of these episode that youtube deleted earlier to check for hack? I know most of the episode are just you analysing, but man you can't see the dialogue in the anime at all.
34:00 you see, what I don't get is this: if the dude had some superb defensive magic that noone could hurt him since he became a 1st class mage, if they were so confident in his defenses that the test was to attack him with anything that wouldn't hurt the other competitors... then why even have a rule against killing him? and besides, what a moronic test... you have to attack this dude that is know for being impervious to attack with enough force for him to feel it, but if you go too far you are disqualified? what is it? are they supposed to go all out or hold back? how are they supposed to know how far they can take it? all the retoric that the guy is untouchable will definitely drive test takers to go all out on their attacks, but then if they manage to actually hurt him they are disclassified? what a $h1t test...
same with the damn necromancer lovers out there simping for solo leveling. absolute trash except for art, that is all. so many stories out there way better. countless chinese cultivation stories way cooler than solo leveling. even world's apocalypse online is cooler and smarter.
I think you can legit look at Frieren and decide it's not for you. There is a lack of urgency in it, so the stakes feel low. Plus, the lead has yet to be seriously challenged. I love the show, but people will have different tastes.
