It's been a while since I made a sodium alginate DIY! I've had this kit for a while and really loved experimenting with it. These Halloween water eggs were quick, fun and easy to make. The popping process actually reminds me a lot of clay cracking which is becoming increasingly popular right now. These lack the ASMR but are visually incredibly satisfying to watch. Another thing I like is that they're easy to clean up. The gel has no smell, doesn't stain and easily wiped away using water.
This is a kit that lets you make weird water charms. It's perfect for anyone who likes slime, squishies or clay cracking. However chemically, this is done using an entirely different process, which is actually safer and less toxic than most craft kits. It's based on a technique called direct spherification using calcium salts and sodium alginate. You have to use the exact compounds mentioned...e.g. substituting normal table salt (sodium chloride) for calcium chloride will NOT work.

Happy Halloween I made you some boiled eggs, there abit watery.
I'd love to see you do one of these eggs as a realistic egg! Make a spherical 'yolk' with yellow alginate and see if you can suspend it in an egg of clear alginate.
You'd probably get the satisfaction of cutting it open twice and a realistic runny yolk look!
