The golden era of gaming. A time where we get hit by nostalgia from the 7th generation consoles containing the PS3, Xbox 360 and the Wii: All of them having it's own uniqueness. We'll be exploring the highlights and memorable moments of this era, discussing the iconic games, innovative gameplay, and the impact these consoles had on the gaming industry. I'll be sharing personal experiences as well. Remember those golden days on Black Ops 2? Yeah, those were the times...
There is obviously no answer to what was the best console/console generation, we all have our own opinions so feel free to share where gaming peaked for you in the comments below.

I still regularly play all these consoles and I currently have my ps3 and Wii both setup. All 3 consoles had great titles yet they all weren’t too reliant on internet connection. I’m old school so I really don’t care for online gaming
Yeah, I’ve also come to notice that online gaming has caused me stress because there are certain events “I have to participate in” and more. I played TLOU and Tomb Raider 2013 recently and they are still amazing games and very relaxing from online gaming.

The 7th generation definitely had the best balance. Other generations were too skewed in one console's favour, whether in terms of games, appeal to developers, sales or general public attention. The Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii had the perfect balance of exclusives, online and local multiplayer, performance, and distinct personality between them.
It also made more sense to own all three, if you could afford it, compared to the Xbox One being an inferior PS4, or the Dreamcast/Saturn being outshined by competitors.
It true, I mostly play older games. Now replaying Resi4 on Steam.

I remember as a kid with a ps3 I wanted a ps4 because of fomo. I eventualy got a ps4 and I love both consoles. Now I'm glad that my younger self kept my ps3. I have all the games I love on ps3 and ps4. I'm contempt with what I have. Although it would be nice to have, I don't need a ps5 to play better versions of games I already have.

Agree everything between 2010 and up to 2015 was those golden era of gaming. Remembering the times with modern warfare and xbox 360 ps3 assassins creed gta iv red dead redemption those were golden times. These days its mostly a stupid competitive thing rather than being a fun thing

So, before recording those scenes I personally told the consoles that it’s for content so they wouldn’t die on me. They listened and all still fighting like champs 😎
I still prefer physical games but because I play mostly on pc now, this isn't always possible.

The nostalgia cycle is interesting. It's a bit funny to see all this love for an era that briefly killed my interest in gaming, that was never the same after.
I think it's great that people grew up with it had so many things to enjoy about it. But it's bit weird to me considering how many dark sides this era had to see it be called "peak gaming". But that's just how things go. There will be lots of people growing up now years later praising this era as a better, more pure time. The PS1 and PS2 eras weren't all amazing either as discs were slower than cartridges, arcades were dying, much of the industry having an anti-2D bias, and franchises like Dino Crisis being killed after shit sequels. Just to name a few things.

Considering how poorly modern XBOX consoles are doing, especially on the buisness practices and them making stupid decisions. I wouldn't be suprised if Microsoft decided to re-open the XBOX 360 store again, because more people play on the 360 then on the newer hardware, because they don't want to loose money.
The 7th gen peaked because graphics and story matter more than gameplay.
This was the era of "cinematic" 30 fps games and forced slow walk-and-tall sections, though. It was infamous for gameplay-first franchises like DMC and Ninja Gaiden pivoting to becoming story heavy.
@Potidaon From what I can remember I didn’t realize it was 30 fps back in the day, it was the top notch consoles in the market and I didn’t know any better so it felt smooth.
Up through the PS2, 60 fps was standard. 30 fps became so common, especially in "cinematic" set piece-driven games like Uncharted, that it basically became a meme, with so many games aiming for 30 and it being called a "more cinematic" frame rate, by both devs and media. The peak of it was when games like SSX 2012 and DmC were 30. Some people even claimed higher framerates could hurt your eyes! Lol. Even the director of DMC3&4! Who'd previously created 10 fighting games, all 60 fps. It was a weird time. I can't blame you not remembering, though. I didn't pay much mind to framerate in the PS1 or 2 eras either.
