John Biggles thanks, it is amazing what 40C daily will do for these things, I only wish I had it up earlier in the year to have had a big jump on the growing season.
You live in a paradise Brad! I'm always stunned by the view from your house overlooking the water. Living just below sea level, you don't get many scenic views like yours lol.
***** Thanks! We are about 750' above sea level. This time of year is great, we can see to the horizon but we get funny weather patterns up here. In the fall, when the air is crisp and the lake and lowlands are warm clouds form below us, blue sky above and white sky below. BUT then come winter the fall rolls in and you sometimes can't see across the street for days. the house across the road is actually gone!!
Hi Brad. Ive become hooked on your channel as Ive grown a few carnivorous plants myself in South Africa, grew beautifully in an open greenhouse and went dormant in winter. Ive moved to the UK and though our seasons fall at the same time as yours, we have short summers. Im investing in a small greenhouse for the really cold months when Im sure all my plants will go dormant and was just wandering with that amount of carnivorous plants you have, what do you feed them? Do you order in insects?
I have 3 venus fly traps but they never seem to catch any food, is there anything I can do to help them? The pitcher plants catch loads of flies but they are simply too big for the venus fly traps which are always so small mouths.
Hey brad I'm thinking of getting a greenhouse just like this and I was gonna put some nepenthes and some small temperate CP's in it also just till they get big enough to be put outside. Any tips? That be great! Also you have a nice collection as usual keep up the awesome work!
GojiFan 1954 I wouldn't put nepenthe's in this greenhouse, it gets to hot and dry. one sunny day of not opening the zippers and the nepenthes would die from the heat. I put only sun loving temperate carnivores in mine here. one that don't mind 40C
***** Hey thanks for the tip Brad that would have been bad news! would this work if I were to use it inside of my house like in your other video? And be able to put lowland and highland nepenthes inside together? Tips would be great; Lighting, etc. Btw you really inspired me to love and become interested in these beautiful wonders of nature. And keep up the awesome work!
Hey Brad i have a quesion, i was thinkin of growing some drosera intermedia from seed. i live in Sweden so my question is how late can i plant them, is it to late to plant now in juli/august and still let them go dormant in the winter? can i take them inside and let them have a shorter dormancy? do you have any tips? i really would like to seed them immédiatement when i get the seeds but not sure what to do. :) love your channel keep it up! :)
rezoult hey, they need to be stratified for a few months and you could skip the for winter dormancy. it will give them a jump for winter 2016/17. i skip the first winter on all my temperate CP's
Brad, my Sarracenia flowered this year. Are you saying if I don't actively pollinate the flowers they won't produce seeds. If you haven't already could you do a video on the pollinating process. Thanks
GigantorsDAD yeah they don't self pollinate and there must be a certain insect in the wild that does it in their native habitat because our native bees and fly's don't bother with them it seems
I was wondering if it was possible to send me some spanish moss i have looked and looked and can't find any sadly i am not able to order some online if you can't that is fine i am just curious thanks

Brad, When is the best time of year to start a bog garden in Southern California?
Hi Brad, just wondering do you use distilled water or tap water for you carnivorous plants?
Good stuff Brad...
Awesome Video! Love your channel I've bought myself a Nepenthes Alata are they easy for beginners?
indeed they are
Good as usual Brad! This may seem tedius to you but if you would actually show some of the maintenance I'd really appreciate it.
Jim Braun I'll see what I can do next time, not sure many people want to see me pull weeds haha
You're right about the weeds. What I had in mind was pruning on the different carnivorus plants. But this is your channel. Either way, Thanks.
Do you have a video of you making the bog step by step?
Very nice! Good growing A+
Francisco Solis thanks !
