You sold me and my daughter two plant, on Sunday at Audley End gardens world show. We both fall in love with theses plants. And are watching all your videos. And have just ordered more plants and compost today. Going to start of with bog in a large pot. Yours looks amazing 👏
They are amazing! I have a "small" one and I love it! Seeing yours growing so full of plants is such an inspiration to try this kind of setups. How long do you suppose the Spaghnum moss will last before it starts to decay and need changing? Mine is almost three years old and seems very healthy
Everything looks so healthy and vibrant! Quite the opposite of my new bog planter. 🤣 Everything's looking very sad and I'm not sure why. Hopefully they'll all pick up soon.
Very impressive, do like how everything have grown into their individual clumps and am interested to see if that Cephalotus will come back. I have read somewhere that S.purpurea can be invasive if they get into the right habitat and seeing mine in the Belfast sinks I've had over the past few years. Heavy frosts don't bother them as much as other species, the spread of their evergreen leaves out competes with other plants and have also noticed them self seed.
Hi Matt, this is going to sound like a stupid question because I’m sure you’re asked it all the time. In past bog videos you’ve mentioned you removed the soil where the bogs lay and backfilled it in the liner. Have you had any problems with the nutrients in the soil affecting the plants? Everyone online always stresses about using nutrient poor soil like peat, so I was curious how you pulled it off. Especially with such beautiful bogs like yours, seems counterintuitive to what most people say. I love your bog garden tours and i’m always looking forward to the next, have a great day! -Roy
Hi Roy No , we back fill the soil from the footing into the centre and level out , then we lay the liner on top and fill with sphagnum peat only , first time I’ve been asked this , hope this helps , 😀
Hi Matt what a fantastic video, I would like to start my own big garden, but I’m stuck with the peat, nobody around by me stocks just peat, all they sell are bags of compost, can you suggest what I use, very much appreciated
Matt you are truely the Attenborough of carnivorous plants :) can i just ask which filiformis that is as there is 3 on your website ? keep the videos coming top stuff
After visiting you last July and seeing your brooks hybrid looking better and more vibrant than under glass, mine is now outside in a bog container. Reassuring that mine is at the same stage as yours. Any plans on trying different Sarracenia outside?
Do you have any problems with birds? I live in Denmark and here the blackbirds love to dig in the wet peat and sphagnum moss. And they just rip VFT and small droseras apart.
The bogs are looking great! i have build one myself two years ago, but one issue i keep running into every spring/summer is birds. for the past couple of days birds have raided my bog at least twice a day, killing sundews and flytraps, and destroying my beautiful spagnum carpet. seeing as all your bogs are open air style do you also have issues with wildlife going though the bogs? i'd hate to have to put up a net in order to keep my plants safe as it takes away so much of the beauty of the bog.
Hi matt what sort of sarracenia would you recommend for outside (Nottinghamshire/lincolnshire boarder area) of the larger types as we have alot of mosquitos/flys,i have taking a big interest in these after getting my first purprea as i couldnt keep venus flytraps when i was younger and tbh im surprised i havnt got an over weight purprea as all the pitchers was near 3/4 full, any info would be greatly appreciated
This looks fantastic
Thank you, Matt, i just love the natural bog garden glad you put one moor in go for it and keep adding
Would like to make some more 😃

Its amazing at how plants can just grow in water let alone on water. 🤯🤯🤯
They look stunning and the 4 year old one is amazing.
I’m so happy with them Mark , they just get better and better
Love you plants, I started one last year, they all survived, so going bigger this year. We love them.
really beautiful, I created a bog like yours last year and I already like the result a lot!

Both Cephalotus have survived and are coming back up now

Lovely "yellow" sphagnum. What king of variety is that?
Looks fantastic, we all know they like boggy conditions how do they cope with flooding some of those beds look really really wet
they produce a lot of flowers
Yes they have this year
