I like the concept of that new rookie. It's fairly different from "just a dragon dinousaur thing" or "just a wolf bear thing". I guess we did have some electric boys in recent times, but still. Seems very... I don't know, bird like? With the chunky arms with talons, and the headpiece that is kind of like a crown? I'm excited to see what will be of it.
If this does culminate in a manga, then I think it could potentially be interesting as long as it’s not exclusive to Japan. Pull a Digimon Seekers, or Digimon Dreamers, and let people read it on the website, you know?
I like this new Rookie quite a bit. I would definitely be interested in a client coming out, I feel like they really need to establish one for the game to hold any momentum beyond what it has now. I just hope that if they do, they make a reasonable monetization model out of it.
They really made a whole new form of Magnamon X based on that bit in its reference book entry that said "When its muscles strain they turn gold". I'm not complaining, it looks really cool.

Absolutely agree. Hope they give us ANY way to play the digimon TCG online officially. The tutorial app was cool and had fun with those 3 matches but I want more. Imagine a dealer giving me the first dose free and now refuses to sell you more of the stuff!

I would like a card game video game, ala the PS1 Digimon Card game; but a manga for the card game is also something I'd be super interested in too! Excited to see whatever this project is gonna be.
with all the "meta verse, fused world, liberation" keyword stuff they're going for, my wild guess is that this might be an app/client with a pokemon go/ingress kind of twist to it, where you join a "faction" and as you win matches with people online it shows on a map how much "territory" your faction has

Very interesting! I was under the impression that this was the online client. I think you're right though, looking at the art style, it does throw some manga vibes out there. Either one will be cool, but we definitely need an online game, otherwise people like me without a local community, never get to actually play the game!

Theory Time! I think the new Digimon is the Rookie Level of Magnamon. And is called the Golden Liberator. He is similiar then to Shoutmon who wants to be King. But Magnamons Rookie wants to liberate something and gets stronger when he evolves until at one Time the Story gives him a very Hard Enemy. That he has no other Choice then to transforms in his new X Antibody Form to defeat him.
I think a Digimon TCG manga would be an incredible step forward in uniting the card game with the franchise as a whole together. Think of all the new mons they could do that isn't tied to a movie or something. A proper flashbang of confusion by bandai lmao
maybe it could be an AR project focused on the card games, with the focus on meta verse stuff and the VR/AR they’ve been doing it would make sense. could be a whole “finally bridge the gap between us and the digital world” type deal. plus with them showing a start year in 1999 and then showing 2023, plus the “changes the shape” thing, might be a reference to how they way we connect to digimon has changed but it won’t change our connection? just a fun theory
in my opinion, the big thing keeping the tcg out of the mainstream right now is the lack of a client. Not everyone has people around to play the card game, so right now most people are very reliant on online play.

I would personally really love a way to play the card game digitally, because the How to Play app was fun, the matches I've watched on UA-cam look fun, and the card designs are so cool...but they're not really worth me buying if I don't have anyone nearby to play with.

That being a Magnamon equivalent to Jesmon GX would be really cool. I always wanted there to be more "one step above" X-Antibody forms, cuz keeping the concept solely to one guy feels like wasted potential, so I 100% would be down for that. The only weird thing is that it seems to go in a completely different direction _from_ Jesmon GX. Jesmon X into Jesmon GX is a transformation that made Jesmon more... "skeletal", for lack of a better term. Here, this guy actually looks like he's got _more_ meat on him compared to the also-kinda-skinny Magnamon X (at least so far as I recall). Again, I like that, don't want all the things in a certain power-up style to be the same visually, I'd just be shocked that they went for the complete opposite approach on the _second try at this._

A thought I had with the metaverse Lobby thing. What if they make a card game client with a vs ai mode in which the ai uses a chat bot to speak with you. Or in which you could speak with your cards, forming a relationship with them.
So what I would interesting about the Key Art is that the two Digimons could be the Rookie and a Mega of the same line. Since giving us a preview of the Mega does mean that we just have to theorize about what's going on.

I feel like out of anything, I'd like a game similar to Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel for Digimon. Just a more convenient way for me to get into the game without buying cards myself. Hell, playing Super Quants in Master Duel actually made me buy the cards for it to build a real life deck, so maybe a Digimon digital card game would do the same for me.
It looks... interesting to say the least. The eye in the back is giving me Alphamon-vibes, and if they're doing stuff with X-Antibody-Digimon getting what seems to be a further stage and featuring a Royal Knight so far (because god knows they're probably never going to use Magnamon in any other context ever again...)... I absolutely wouldn't be suprised if this was some "Alphamon X" kinda thing. The new Rookie is giving me very Pulsemon vibes in a way... I'll reserve further judegement until we see it more in action though, or at least its official artwork. The new Magnamon X also looks cool... I guess. I like the design, it's giving me major Xenoblade 2 vibes, but it doesn't feel like Magnamon, if it weren't for Veemons horns/ears still sticking out in the back just barely visible, I'd say it feels more like a Magnamon using Agumon as a base rather than Veemon. As for what this may be, I agree it looks very manga, and with the contest being a thing that's probably the most likely, but I could also see this being connected to a digital cardgame, potentially something more story-focused which would warrant all these new Digimon rather than just a client, and they simply hired a mangaka to be the main artist for the project with them simply keeping their main style. Because while the artstyle seems very manga-like, it also somehow feels distinctly not like something you'd actually draw FOR a manga.
Unless I travel to another town I'd have to be in my town centre in the evening until maybe 9 which ain't happening, it ain't that save during the day so yeah any digital game will do just so I can play
Damn I can't believe SAO and digimon are doing a crossover that's sick. Jokes aside, a bunch of people getting isekai'd into a death game where they're digimon has some potential. Especially since megas tend to get more humanoid and everyone would WANT to digivolve to get over the body horror of hatching from a digiegg as a baby-level digimon. (I have no legs and I must Bubble Blow) It'd be extra cool if, since it's a digimon death game, the killed players don't die but instead get amnesia as their personality is deleted and data is reformated into a new egg. Then the humans wake up at the end of the game with their only identity and memories being of their time as a Tyrannomon! Think of the transhuman drama we could put those tweens through!
If this turns out to actually be a manga, hopefully it's similar to seekers, in terms of releasing wise, and not a Japanese only thing. Maybe 2024 manga and 2025 anime adaptation? I don't play the TCG for various reasons, so a online version like Yu-Gi-Oh master duel or Pokemon TCG live would be nice for people like me....... who are alone.

The card game has had metaverse based interactions before. Bandai setup rooms for some past reveals/livestreams and had a clunky simulator (if I remember right) you could play at. So there could be some tie in to that

Jokes aside, a bunch of people getting isekai'd into a death game where they're digimon has some potential. Especially since megas tend to get more humanoid and everyone would WANT to digivolve to get over the body horror of hatching from a digiegg as a baby-level digimon. (I have no legs and I must Bubble Blow)
It'd be extra cool if, since it's a digimon death game, the killed players don't die but instead get amnesia as their personality is deleted and data is reformated into a new egg. Then the humans wake up at the end of the game with their only identity and memories being of their time as a Tyrannomon! Think of the transhuman drama we could put those tweens through!

So I went ahead and made 3D models and figures on the liberator protagonist.
Imagine we get a card game anime version of Tamers, where instead of fighting digimon, it explores more the cards itself.
If this turns out to actually be a manga, hopefully it's similar to seekers, in terms of releasing wise, and not a Japanese only thing. Maybe 2024 manga and 2025 anime adaptation?
I don't play the TCG for various reasons, so a online version like Yu-Gi-Oh master duel or Pokemon TCG live would be nice for people like me....... who are alone.

The card game has had metaverse based interactions before. Bandai setup rooms for some past reveals/livestreams and had a clunky simulator (if I remember right) you could play at. So there could be some tie in to that
