Sorry it’s been a rough week for you. Is it because of this video getting taken down before. Well, I’m glad the video is back and I hope it stays this time!
That scene of the crowd cheering and opening the path for davis and Ken is of my favorites scenes on the franchise including imperialdramon whole fight
I remember catching the original tv premiere on Jetix just by luck. Yeah, one of the best pleasant surprises in my life at the time. I love this movie.
Me too, I just happened to turn on the channel and saw the original digidestined and I said “what is this!? I’ve never seen this before” it was so exciting to see a new story so unexpectedly.
Well, marketing teams are the only thing letting yuo know something new is out. It's really dull even trying to engage with communities, because similar shows like anything made by Fil Barlow has to constatnly answer to "why are you mentioning IP that isn't carrying the same commercial licenses?" And half of the time you also have to dance around spoilers because some people are still surprised about the fact Hero's journey constantly retells the exact same stories. Nobody seems to care about the grander connections adn meanings, just to see the same old paper dolls smack into each other again. I saw this while I saw Dennou Coil and Bokurano, and good riddance to all the rest.
This video unlocked some memories for me. I vaguely remember this movie airing once or twice around like 2005. Completely forgot about it. Gonna need to rewatch now!
Its always bummer that Toei took down your video, reminds us the last time they did that, because its so unfair to you. We will support you no matter what buddy! And about this sequel movie, it was a good movie, its just not the same without Hosoda directing, and honestly the most memorable scene for me was Tai, Matt and Sora appeared as a trio.
It was thanks to you that I finally watched all of the Digimon movies, while I still think that Our War Game and the 1999 short film are peak Digimon I loved all of them for what they were. Really wish Ghost game gets a movie
I know Toei have been a pain for you and honestly happy you were able to upload this again i know the pain with copyright when i post videos on my channel for reviews i sometimes run into that same pain but i want to say that i appreciate the work you put into this video and even though i was able to watch the original version for the video love the work and watched this again, thanks again man
I remember watching The Revenge of Diaboromon when I was around 18-19 years old. I was beyond shocked that one of my favorite childhood movies had a sequel!
I was so confused when you said that this movie was forgotten. I remember the movie being combined with the first for its airing. I watched it on tv and on YT throughout the years. If anything, the other Digimon movies are forgotten. I've never even watched them.
From what I can tell these dubs are relatively unknown compared to the first movie (which got a full theatrical release) and even the Japanese versions. I didn't grow up with them myself, so while I knew about the first movie, the various TV anime, etc, I didn't learn about the Jetix dubbed movies until a few years ago
I hadn't ever heard about this movie but after watching this, I'm stoked to watch it. I'm glad you were able to reupload this, I was so bummed when I thought I'd never get to see your video
I remember watching the original Digimon Movie and thinking "I wish there was more of these", and when I went to UA-cam to watch clips, I found out about all the other movies! Since then I've watched all the movies from each season up to Xros Wars, and still go back time and again!
Frontier theme and the bg score was recycled here because at the time of broadcast (2005), Disney had the rights while Saban retained the original score by Shuki Levy. So all the remaining Digimon films had the Frontier/Season 4 scores.
Glad you were able to put the video back up. Thanks for doing the extra work to accommodate their rules. Hope your week gets better! I just acquired a copy of all of Digimon movies. It’s been really fun watching them, as I missed most of it growing up so all of it is first time experience. I just watched this one the day after your video got taken down. Seeing Imperialdramon get the torch passed to him from Omegamon with the sword was phenomenally animated. I actually liked this movie a little more than Our War Game, but I probably don’t understand all the nuance to appreciate it properly. This movie was only great because of the movie that came before it though setting the stage. Really loved how it went into the real world for the finish.
thanks for letting us know this movie exists cant wait to go watch it later. maybe it'll make up for the painful digimon 02 movie. seriously it kinda hurt to rewatch it as an adult
I remember watching this on tv when I was younger and I was amazed by how well it turned out especially when paladin mode debuted just powerful enough that I tattooed the sword on me
@@thedigiknow I feel the same since I got the omnisword and crests together I wound up getting two additional ones the seven digimon sins symbols and a personal message I wrote in digicode
I certainly remember watching this when the English version premiered on tv. I was in high school then and was beginning to salivate on nostalgic things like this. I guess as a Millennial, this trait didn't stop lol.
I remember tracking this movie down a few years after Data Squad. Early days UA-cam, so managed to (re)watch all the first five seasons and then these extra movies. Honestly feel the same way. This was such a wonderful treat for an OG fan, and someone who saw the Digimon Movie in cinemas. Our War Game is certainly superior, but this is the victory lap I was happy to go along with so many years later, and hooked me back in enough to stay a fan forever.
I watched the original upload and loved it. Sorry you had to deal with that and I hope that Toei realizes that videos like yours bring us closer to the franchise as a whole!
The first time i saw the movie i was in college and found it on lime wire at the time along with the other digimon movies. I was sooo happy and excited. I would love for you to review the other films. I am a true Digidestined and appreciate how this anime series has been an inspiration to my life.
Revenge of Diaboromon was definitely something I didn't catch until years later. I think I was aware of it a little before then, but for a good while I thought it hadn't been dubbed. When I finally got around to watch it on [totally legal anime streaming site] I really enjoyed it, but it just didn't hit the same as Our War Game ever did. Better than even Tri and Hurricane Touchdown, certainly. But I don't know if I'd call it better than Kizuna or the OG Adventure film. Still, a very satisfying Adventure 02 film, and I look forward to seeing if it gets brought up in the upcoming movie at all.
I used to love this movie, but sadly this was the last time Lara Jill Miller voiced Kari since she was never asked back for Adventure Tri the other movie or the reboot series which hurts my heart to this day, because that was the first time I heard Her before her best known role from the classic 80s sitcom Gimmie a Break.
I remember but don’t remember at the same time. It’s a weird feeling. I would have probably only seen it once when it came out .. but agh such feels regardless
I remember when Jetix brought the 4 other digimon movies to the states. They were hyping them up with trailers and I was freaking extatic. They were awesome, other than that Joshua Seth didn't voice Tai.
I'm so glad I found out about this movie a while back. I love the art style, and I'll always be happy to see my favorite characters. Also, the password thing was cool, and it's neat they referenced it in The Beginning
thank you for making this video. i had no idea this existed and im going to hunt it out now - the OG movie is still one of my all time favourites, a true 2000s time capsule! ive had a rough few weeks so this has really cheered me up. hope your week gets better too ❤
Oh my god I remember watching this on the TV when I was very young! Digimon: The Movie was my absolute favourite movie as a kid, but I always doubted myself when I vaguely remembered this film because I thought I just made it up. Guess I know what I'm going to try to rewatch now!
I remember watching this film back in 2005, along with both Tamers films and the Frontiers film. The reason I believe the house of mouse didn't use the original theme was for the same reason they couldn't use the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers theme for Once a Ranger a couple years later in Operation Overdrive. They simply didn't have the rights as 20th Century Fox at the time had the music rights. This is why the theme for Frontiers/Season 4 was used. Has these been shown when Data Squad/Savers/Season 5 was shown, they might well have used the theme from that show, but used the Frontiers theme for the Frontiers movie. Regardless of how one feels about those companies, it is interesting how rights work, sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's frustrating, sometimes it's just downright strange.
Glad you were able to re-upload! It’s fitting that the company forgets this movie- it was, I a.ways thought, meant to be a passing of the torch to the 02 kids. And yet, the adventure kids still seem to get constant spotlight. Still not a fan of how TRI treated them lol
I have never ever forgotten this movie the memories are very vague when I was born in 1999 but around 2004 I watched this movie. I LOVE THE ART DIRECTION. Old school anime movies and shows with this sort of animation and art style are soo goated man and have such lovely stories and awesome fights. The part when they run through the crowd and the digivolution starts is soo fire. I binged watched adventure, adventure 02, tamers, frontiers and data squad. I haven’t gotten into the recent ones but did watch tri and last evolution kizuna. I do wonder what is next.
I remember back when took Disney and Jetix was a thing and they’d play the commercial for this film ! I was so hyped as a kid ! I would just stay up a just waiting for a chance to rewatch the commercial /trailer for it ! I was so a fan of the Digimon adventures series as a kid. I even remember saving the recording for the film on my Cox cable dvr (?) so I could watch it all over again
6:39 On that note with Joe, I like to think that the girlfriend he mentioned in Tri is the girl he borrowed the second bike from. They're briefly shown during the battle, and the credits show them saying good byes with bright smiles.
I did watch this when it aired on Toon Disney back then, thinking it was a decent continuation to the events of Our War Game. Honestly I've always felt like this should have been the real third part of Digimon: The Movie rather than how they just took the previous 02 film, chopped it up, and tried to make it tie-in with Our War Game when this was the one that was clearly meant to. Unfortunately despite them going to all the trouble of producing new English dubs for this handful of Digimon films they've always just kept them completely exclusive to their Toon Disney airings and have never bothered to release them onto DVD officially, which is why they've been so rare to watch outside of any TV rips of them online. I was a big fan of Digimon in the late 90s/early 2000s almost as much as I was Pokémon, so I know how much it can suck for fans whenever this franchise is slept on with things like that.
The greatest loss the new series fail to replicate from the older series, particularly Adventure: Digivolution affects technology. I love seeing the version of the evolution animation we see in the show as happening on screens around the city when Imperialdramon evolves. They never really touched on that aspect since, with about the best we've ever gotten was Kari in the engish dub of the 2000 movie saying "nobody knows why, but technology seemed to go haywire everytime that thing transformed". There's a subtle vibe that keeps Adventure as the best, just before the trauma of Tamers.
I definitely enjoyed the revenge of Diaboromon, and watched both the English and Japanese version. While I did like the English dub, I found it a bit distracting hearing the digimon frontier English theme as background music for an earlier digimon series. Still, the revenge of diaboromon movie was a fine send off to digimon adventure and zero two before digimon adventure tri came along, especially when diaboromon was technically the last villain of both digimon adventure and zero two.
I came here after watching the Digimon adventure 2020 reboot show. Never watched this movie. I only watched the first movie. Great review of this. Thanks for information
Does anybody remember the two Digimon Tamers movies? Now those are forgotten films. Also, Digimon Data Squad had a movie that was never released outside of Japan. I watched that one online when I was a teenager.
A year late, but if you're still looking, I found the dub on Internet Archive. I was looking for the sub myself which took me a bit longer to track down!
Loved the first one and was suprised to find out years later around early 20s that there was a second movie about diaboramon...def my favorite movie of all the digimon movies i think
I have this film as part of a 15 Digimon film collection. I really enjoyed this film, as I appreciated the Digimon Frontier theme used in this film. Additionally, the characters aged and tied in very well with Digimon 02. Great review of this film.
Wait people really didn't know about revenge of diaboromon? I remember watching ot several times, I actually liked it even with some of the weird stuff...now I need to go back and watch it again, it's been several years
Thinking back, im amazed that i knew about this. I remember freeing up my whole weekend for this movie, and watching it with my cousin (who actually had cable). Kid me was not about to let anything make me miss it.
I remember catching this as a kid and was so psyched to see a movie that was about the original digidestined and the 02 group, but used the soundtrack of frontier. I know that they most likely only used the music from Frontier due to licensing issues since both the 99 and 02 animes were years over at this point, but I found it as a nice bridge between the series even if it was only the music.
1:08 I remember that time in 2005 with the Digimon movies premiering on Jetix months apart throughout the year. Thought it was strange and random they just started airing a bunch of Digimon movies back to back but I was enjoying it lol.
The first Digimon Movie was my first time ever seeing digimon. Diaboromon was the first villain i've seen and since then he's always my Favorite Digimon ever. I only found out about this movie a year or two ago and luckily managed to watch it. Such a badass digimon!
I’m pretty openly not a fan of 02 for sequel series reasons. But Revenge of Diaboromon made my favorite Free type in armaggedamon, and did something I felt was just fantastic. Just like our war game, having the digivolution sequence be framed from the perspective of being on displays and screens, it makes the scene feel more climactic and just pretty in a way I can’t quite explain.
One thing I love about Diaboromon, and I don't think it's something I see get discussed often enough, is that it's essentially a dark mirror of Wargreymon. The long horns that point up at the very end, above a mat of straggly hair, the long clawed hands... it's subtle, but it's there. Meanwhile, Armageddemon is a dark mirror of Imperialdramon Dragon Mode, going for a more bestial physique (that yeah, also pulls from Infermon). They're great foils to Tai and Davis in terms of design.
I wore out my tape of the Digimon movie as a kid, so when I found this movie on UA-cam my senior year of high school it was almost like a family reunion for me
Great short film. I am looking forward to more Digimon movie reviews. It's really bizarre that you cannot buy these movies with the box sets that come out these days. It is quite hard to find physical copies. Just do a bin collection like with the old Dragon Ball z movies. I am looking forward to this year's Digimon film.
I watched it on UA-cam during the covid lockdown for the very first time. 2005: It was never on tv here (in Canada) but I was always very interested in it and followed it online and looked at merch on eBay. Around 2011-2015 I remember some screen caps on Tumblr that revived my interest but I still couldn’t track down a fan-subbed or dubbed copy.
I completely missed the English release, but I watched a marathon of Fan Subs all the way through Frontier. And you are right, Omegamon losing his arms/the activation of Paladin Mode was Metal AF. 🤘
I didn't get to see this special until late 2007 or 2008. Until then I always wondered where this white Imperialdramon came from. He was a secret fighter in Digimon Rumble Arena, one of three hardest Digivolutions to unlock in Digimon World 3, and my sister owned a 2 inch figurine of him when Frontier was relevant.
I used to have a digital version of this movie, but lost it over 8 years ago. Really irks me that it never got a proper DVD release. Only time I've found it was used and not so good condition on ebay, so never bought it... provided it was even the right one and not someone mislabelling it
this review makes me want to cry it's so beautiful. you understand character development so well. also in the picture of matt and sora there's a weird concert poster of a male symbol piercing a female symbol and it says "shocking night fucking night."
I agree with you thedigiknow ! When it comes to a bit of your points in this video asked me, I saw when it aired twice my only complaint was that it was too short 28 minutes to me that’s a little bit short of half an hour and 40 minutes probably would be a bit more reasonable if not close to anywhere close to an hour longer would’ve been even better after all they did supposedly do a third but that’s just my recollection before the tire series started
I had to DIG to watch this movie after growing up. I knew it existed in the back of my childhood memories and wanted to find it. All i knew it was a movie in the movie style but Ken was there, as he wasn't in the first movie. It took me so long to find it to watch it again, even just the struggle finding it shows how underrated this film is.
I didn't even notice the Eva references, I thought it was just weird or Super Sentai-esque. lol I loved this movie, it was so weird and cool at the same time. I saw it on JETIX!
I remember watching this fourth movie in both English and Japanese on UA-cam many years ago and so far I really enjoyed it. The character designs look very similar to Hosoda's style and the battle scene between Omnimon and Armageddemon was pretty awesome. Wish the movie was a bit longer though but at least 20 minutes should be fit enough for the movie's length.
I actually caught Revenge of Diaboromon when it debuted on Toon Disney or Disney XD or whatever it was called at the time. I hope it gets the HD treatment like was recently announced for Digimon: The Movie. I don't think it beats Kizuna for me, but it is up there on my ranking Digimon movies, maybe tied for third with the Tamers movie involving Locomon.
I remember seeing that form in Digimon Rumble but I never knew they made a continue on my lip until this video I was always wondering when that character showed up
I remembered watching this on Jetix. Plus the tamers & frontier movies. That was a fantastic summer for me. Please can you do a review of the tamers and frontier movies. Hopefully if you do toei won't smack you with a copyright strike.
I totally forgot about this movie. I only remember it not being as great as the original, the title and Omnimon having a similar fight as the first movie. I'll need to rewatch it!!
I remember watching this movie back in 2005. When I first saw the poster I was very excited because Tai and Matt were finally part of the central story, but after watching the movie I felt this movie was made more for the 02 kids to surpass the 01 fully. I always wanted a digimon adventure movie were 01 and 02 kids worked together fully. Where Omegamon and impairdramon will fight side by side against the enemy. Not so much on passing the torch story again.
I learned of the movie after playing digimon cyber sleuth and learning of paladin mode, which lead me to downloading it and the rest of the digimon movies we never got.
I watched them later then downloaded them. I think you can still download them. Yes, talk about the Tamers and Frontier movies especially the second Tamers movie.
I remember watching this on tv when it aired it wild at the time. A FOLLOW UP to The Digimon movie years later awesome. This just might come to bluray soon to. Since we FINALLY got the OG Digimon movie on bluray
The frontier theme being in revenge of diaboromon was due to the fact that when Saban sold his entire back catalog to Disney he retained all the music rights. So if they wanted to use the original theme they would've had to pay him. This is why Adam got a new custom theme in Once a Ranger instead of the MMPR theme.
I caught it a couple years ago I wish I watched it when it premiered… it’s the clips of young tai & matt at the end 4 me when sora arrives hits you right in the gut
The Digimon Adventure 02: Revenge of Diorbormon I think premiered on on Disney XD or ABC Family in my city where the later Digimon TV series aired at that time.

First time hearing about it now , I just re watched the movie on UA-cam after pre ordering the blue ray, and it auto played to your video, thanks
I watched this when I was a small boy. Never thought I'd see the day someone made a video about it. Never forgot about this gem.
Veemon looks so cute in this movie, too bad he didn't get much screen time.
6:39 On that note with Joe, I like to think that the girlfriend he mentioned in Tri is the girl he borrowed the second bike from. They're briefly shown during the battle, and the credits show them saying good byes with bright smiles.
That's what I think as well!
Remember watching this movie here on UA-cam many times. Sad it's been taken down
I’m bummed This Film, along with The Tamers and Frontier Movies never released on DVD, Blu-Ray nor on Streaming… the Art is Awesome
Does anybody remember the two Digimon Tamers movies? Now those are forgotten films. Also, Digimon Data Squad had a movie that was never released outside of Japan. I watched that one online when I was a teenager.
Yeah. The two movies you mentioned and a Frontier movie were all aired back to back on Disney XD or Toon Disney back then.
@@StevenWWade Oh yeah, I forgot about the Frontier movie!
I remember watching this movie AND I CAN'T FIND THE DUB ANYWHERE ONLINE ANYMORE!!! I REALLY WANNA REWATCH THE DUBBB
the dub is SUUUUPER fun...it's really a tragedy there's no official release in English. I
@@thedigiknow yeah, I dont know where I found it in the giddy place, I know it wasnt on tv, it's odd how hard it is to find nowadays
A year late, but if you're still looking, I found the dub on Internet Archive. I was looking for the sub myself which took me a bit longer to track down!
Maybe Angemon should have taken a left at the search engine.
Thank you to this video's sponsor, ZeninTCG ! I've linked to some of their newest, trending items in the video description.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Remember when this movie was on UA-cam?
Wait people really didn't know about revenge of diaboromon? I remember watching ot several times, I actually liked it even with some of the weird stuff...now I need to go back and watch it again, it's been several years
This movie, is probably why I love 02 more than adventure.
I remember freaking out when I heard about this movie, but never got a chance to catch it for some reason, I just watched it tonight and it’s fun!
1:08 I remember that time in 2005 with the Digimon movies premiering on Jetix months apart throughout the year. Thought it was strange and random they just started airing a bunch of Digimon movies back to back but I was enjoying it lol.
Good news the first 3 movies of digimon are going to be rereleased.
Sorry they struck down your original video. Hope you and the channel are doing well.
I remember this movie. Wasn't it made into a war game 2 or something? Don't know how I saw it if it was so hard to find
I will forever regret not immediately watching your original review right when it came out, I was a fool
I remember watching this movie in middle school on Jetix. Pretended to be sick just to watch it cause they were showing it in the morning.
Yay you got it back!!! Congrats
i had no idea this even existed,
thanx for the info
I remember watching this fourth movie in both English and Japanese on UA-cam many years ago and so far I really enjoyed it. The character designs look very similar to Hosoda's style and the battle scene between Omnimon and Armageddemon was pretty awesome. Wish the movie was a bit longer though but at least 20 minutes should be fit enough for the movie's length.
this movie is still stuck in my head, i love it and haven’t seen anything about it since the first time i saw it
I actually caught Revenge of Diaboromon when it debuted on Toon Disney or Disney XD or whatever it was called at the time. I hope it gets the HD treatment like was recently announced for Digimon: The Movie. I don't think it beats Kizuna for me, but it is up there on my ranking Digimon movies, maybe tied for third with the Tamers movie involving Locomon.
Revenge of Diaboramon was so fun. I remember watching it on Jetix any time it was scheduled to re-run.
I loved watching Jetix.
I learned of the movie after playing digimon cyber sleuth and learning of paladin mode, which lead me to downloading it and the rest of the digimon movies we never got.
I was so lucky do get to watch this when it premiered on TV. It was an amazing sequel.
That sounds like a great memory! I'm jealous : )
@@thedigiknow it was certainly a big thing for me, considering how obsessed I was with the show at the time.
Yes! I'm hoping the new OG Movies Collection does well enough to green light a second batch!
I watched this movie long ago its a nostalgia to see someone talked about it these days
I think I stayed home from school to watch this on tv or it was summer I can't remember, but I remembered it did air
