- For years now people have been calling me all kinds of dirty names because I have told you weight loss requires a calorie deficit. They came up with a million fad diets from keto to carnivore claiming that carbs were the devil. One of the theories that circulated the fitness, health, and wellness word for awhile was the "carbohydrate insulin model of obesity". And this basically claimed that it's the quality of the calories that makes us gain weight not the surplus. This has subsequently been debunked. Shocker. That said, it is ideal for your overall health AND to improve satiety that you minimize processed carbs (white flour and white sugar). This stuff isn't great for your health. Period. But weight loss is about calorie deficit. A diet to optimize health requires managed calorie intake and minimally processed foods that are high in nutrients.

I am still going to eat a keto diet. My triglycerides were 780, and since I started keto, they are down to 168. Still too high, but those results are irrefutable.
Eat less , move more... But how do we MONETIZE it more. Common sense is cheap. It's not easy, but it's cheap. Jillian, love your content!

Same here. I was a fan of her workouts for a long time before I read her book, Master Your Metabolism. My last checkup went really well. All my numbers were good. My B.M.I. is a little high but by body fat percentage is low.
I smoke too much reefer to ever be thin😂 I'm in "ok" shape, and stopped dieting a long time ago. I want to enjoy the rest of what short life I've got left, and enjoy food. I've dieted my whole life, and I'm just done. Liberation! But I'll Always watch your channel ~ it's the Best🥂💃
I've never stopped eating carbs and in fact I think if I eat mostly carbs and just less food all together I lose weight
I’ve done all the diets. And it is calories in and out!! There’s no miracle diet out there.
I have to go back on the Dukan diet. When I was on it, I ate mostly lean meat and green veg. I 'cheated' during the week and ate pieces of fruit and the odd nut. When I lost approx 30 lbs I felt like I'd thrown off this blanket of illness. I felt so good.
I have relatives taking Ozempic and they've lost much more than 30 lbs each, but neither of them look healthy.
Can you really eat as much as you want on Dukan and still lose weight? It seems to go against the calories in calories out model
Why is it that when I stop eating simple carbs, I lose weight like a mad woman.
Mostly water weight. Each gram of carbs holds onto more water per gram than protein or fat.
Simple carbs also don't fill you up so you remain hungry end up eating more. Aim for complex carbohydrates instead like sweet potatoes I'd one that's highly satiating.
you have to look at how calorie dense they are. IF you are eating a 500 calorie muffin in the morning verses two eggs and a slice of whole grain toast thats gonna be 200 cals in that meal alone. Those processed carbs not only have tons of calories in them they can hinder our satiety causing us to eat more. BUT carbs themselves don't make us store fat. ESPECIALLY not the complex carbs from whole foods. I hate processed foods - don't get me wrong. BUT people will always say to me "im not eating bad" and they aren't. They are eating foods like nuts, avocado, olive oil (all great) but they are eating TOO MUCH OF THEM. Calorie intake matters and it's critical people understand that otherwise they don't get results, get discouraged, and give up.
You and everyone else. Yes it's about calories in vs calories out, but you just don't eat as much when you aren't eating too many carbs.
I would also add, that I'm given to understand, and Jillian could correct me if I'm wrong, that carbs are protien sparring, which basically means it assists you in holding on to muscular weight, and or even building muscular weight. If you are not eating right to help maintain that, you may also be losing muscular weight easier with it too. (Which you dont want to do) It looks cool on paper but less muscle = you'll gain fat easier.
Okay 👍 😊 now can you discuss why everyone is saying zone 2 cardio burns fat over hiit! Super confused
Science confirms that you simply burn more by tearing/repairing muscle because you do it at rest. Cardio doesn’t really tear muscle, so you’re only burning as many calories as you can for a very short period of time. And it raises cortisol, so that also is counterproductive to fat loss.
I love a piece of sourdough toast and a cup of coffee before I lift! I do best when I limit my carbs to Whole Foods, and only have a little pasta, rice, potatoes or piece of toast each day. I am in perimenopause though, so I hold onto the bloat really bad. So if I want to be more svelte, I cut the refined carbs entirely, and only do a little rice and toast.

Carbs makes you depressed and bloated. Explosive diarrheas. Inflammation. Feeling hungry all the time. Feeling icky all the time. Cannot sleep. Cannot breath well. Those are the few side effects of Carbs.
Carbs don't make us fat. It's the excess that is stored then converted into adipose. A balanced diet is key, if you need a specialized diet then consult with a dietician/nutritionist to meet your health needs
Jillian what do you think about extended fasting for weight loss? Can you keep most of your muscle?
What is your recommendation for someone who’s had 3 spinal fusion surgeries & has neuropathy & has a difficult time even walking? I’ve tried to research exercises but am not finding much at all so it makes it very difficult to figure out what physical activity I can do to get those calories out!

There's a UA-camr High Carb Hanna, she lost weight going high carb. So carbs are not the enemy for sure
I can vouch for that~ I did the potato diet, and ate only potatoes for almost 6 months, and lost a lot of weight. But I was SO sick of potatoes 😂 which is funny because mashed potatoes used to be a "cheat" food for me 😂
She lost the Erzfeind high carbs but also ZERO fats
Calorie density density is the best way to go. Get high volume through less calories.

But doesnt pasta and bread convert to sugar?
If you consume protein and/or some fat with an adequate portion of the pasta or bread there isn't going to be much of an issue if you're consuming types you can digest well.
funny i started adding good carbs and lost a few pounds,,,,,I do count caloreis and eat lower carb...like 100 to 150 a day also I workout at least 5 days a week

Right as always, Jillian! I can be a study myself, because after each of my 3 pregnancies, the ONLY thing that helped me lose weight was counting calories with that fitness pal app and literally doing Jillian Michaels videos (dead serious! Your videos are the best!) every single day.
Late last year I started trying that high fat low carb thing. Where I’m eating a bunch of grass fed butter but zero carbs. Big nope. I gained like 7 pounds 😂. Back to balancing everything like I should!
My mom is still hung up on that low carb crap! I keep telling her that it’s calories in, calories out. 😮

I’ve been on the Keto diet since 2019 and yes I do have the occasional cheat meal and I’ve kept the weight off (225 down to 165) and at times I’ll overload on carbs and still maintain my weight. The only thing I like about Ann is her Black Sabbath t-shirt, otherwise she’s so bitter about something that she’s not a part of.

Stay away from the “white” stuff and alcohol
Hi...My name is Jillian Michaels...I know shit all about cellular biology or endocrinology but here is a recent study that proves that insulin is not a fat storage hormone that when elevated for a prolonged period leads to higher blood sugar and decreased lipolysis. Don't believe me that it was JUST disproved? Just peruse these teeny tiny studies..one of which has 19 participants. One is from 1995..one is from 2000 and the other is from 2015..because everyone knows...the best science is outdated as fuck. Stay in your lane sweetie. the cellular biologists got this one. Also, and for the record...endocrinologists and cellular biologist (you know..the people that actually know what they are talking about), don't say that calories don't matter. That also doesn't mean that insulin isn't what it is. Stop trying to bend "science" to fit your narrative and career objectives. It's misguiding people and its ignorant.
