Here's a little departure for you guys! After driving a twin turbo R8, McLaren 720s, and JDM Civic Type-R, I think it's time we take it back to the basics. This 1973 Plymouth Cuda has been in the owner's family since it left the showroom, and has spent it's life like retirement, taking it easy and just cruising the backroads. With a 360ci engine swapped in, it makes plenty enough power for modern standards, while still retaining that original feel, straight from 1973. Enjoy!

assuming this cuda weighs about 3400lbs:
the weight difference between this cuda and a new challenger hellcat is about 1100lbs
the weight difference between this cuda and a 1995 usdm mr2 t-top turbo is about 450lbs
so this "big boat" is much closer in weight to a little mr2 than it is to a new hellcat.

When I was a teen in the 80s a classmate bought one, a burn victim for $100. In auto body class we spent the entire year of school rebuilding her , what a ride.

Langley has some awesome car meets throughout the year where you can find some beautiful vehicles. We are definitely lucky with the amount of diversity in the car culture here in Vancouver.

Awesome car. I too have a 73 cuda I put a 383 big block nicely built 3.55 posi and 727 trans. I love my cuda and have owned it since 1988 back then I picked it up for 400 bucks for it. I have put only less than a couple thousand bucks into it and it is just a blast and I will say this car on the video is very nice but mine would smoke him in a race. IN my car if you stand on it it will smoke The tires thru second and chirp going in to drive. And hang on because it's probably going to be sideways at 60 love my cuda and will never let it go 😎

well, in '73, Toyota has the Celica as their sports car, and the top engine in '73 was a 97 horsepower 18R engine. made 170lb-ft torque out of the very best 2-liter they could make at the time. just put this into perspective for you:
Plymouth had three times the power from an engine three times the displacement in a car that was certainly not three times the weight (in the case of the 360 V8) over the Toyota. The 360 was just one step up from the basic economy engine that was the 318 which was viewed as the V6 Camaro of the day. now go look at the cream of the crop Plymouth and there's a bit of a weight penalty but helluva lot of power. 425 of them to be exact. Toyota had no answer. Their best, most high-performance car, was beaten by the American grandma-spec coupes on American roads. Nissan's 240Z was barely any better off. People only bought them because the character was unique at that time, not because they were faster.
Muscle cars were the hypercars of the time. nothing had the power they did and nothing could handle so much better than a muscle car that they could outdo a muscle car on most racetracks, stock-to-stock.
Don't forget and the muscle cars sold Down Under.
A lot of the body roll is the heavy motor and the bushings...
My 73 has a 340 and I'm rebuilding the front end with polygraphite bushings...will be a huge difference.
I was looking up the weight of gm Ford and Mopar V8s and a small block Mopar weighs less than a small block chevy

I still believe that older muscle cars are too expensive, but you pay for the unique experience. Nice to see a change of pace with American muscle vs JDM. Not to say that I don't like JDM, I actually prefer it...

For those of you who don’t live in British Columbia Canada *Marcus I live in Duncan don’t judge it’s not that bad* the guy has Collector’s plates if he wants to keep those plates he has to follow these laws
Vehicle eligibility
Collector plates may be used on passenger vehicles (cars, light trucks and motorcycles). Motorhomes do not qualify for a collector plate. Your vehicle must meet the following requirements:
Age
To qualify, your vehicle must be one of the following:
25 years or older
A limited production vehicle
15 years or older, and
1 of no more than 1,500 of that make and model (not edition) produced worldwide by the manufacturer for that model year.
A discontinued vehicle
15 years or older, and
A manufacturer that owns the "trademark" or "make" of that vehicle has ceased manufacturing vehicles of any kind for at least the last five years.
Collectible condition
Vehicles with any damage anywhere - regardless of vehicle age - does not meet the collectible condition.
Vehicle must be fully assembled with no missing parts and be in exceedingly good condition.
Vehicle exterior must not have any dents, paint blemishes, bubbling, chips, rust, or visible primer. Body repairs to the vehicle must be completed according to professional practices and standards.
Engine and engine compartment must be stock for the model year of the vehicle without any performance enhancements. Engine and engine compartment must be clean and detailed with no damaged, deteriorated or rusted parts.
Vehicle interior must be in excellent original or restored condition with no tears, stains, or significant wear. Minor restoration to the original upholstery are acceptable. Upholstery conditions also apply to motorcycle seats.
Vehicle exterior, interior and engine must be clean and detailed.

if you want a new engine just buy a crate LS and turbo it and mount it to a manual.
