I love zippo’s I actually collect them, don’t take my comment wrong it’s informative not a slight to you in any way.. You are exactly right it’s not a airtight seal because you have been using it wrong, find your felt pad and reinsert it back into the lighter then push your felt pad into the zippo deeper using a flathead screwdriver so that the rubber gasket can sit on top of the pad flush, you will notice a drastic difference after doing it..

Hmm I use those gaskets... And I reviewed them. I think they produced by many producer in China, and they use different kind of materials. I think I discussed them in Reddit before, and I come to theory that the bad one was made using silicon base stuff, so it would be shrink (In my experience just under 1 month use). But the better one use rubber and it doesn't not shrink.
I use one of them in my EDC and I have use it more than 1 year, and it's not shrink like the one that I bought from other seller...

when i first time got into zippo's world i have fake zippo and tries anything on it. anything that include rubber felt, spring under cam and any mod i can find on internet, after few weeks using that fake zippo, i finally got my first real zippo and yes it is really expensive here in asia. and i can confirm, rubber felt is one of the worst product for your zippo and thats why zippo wouldnt make that rubber felt, they know original felt works better. for me here in southeast asia which is currently on dry season temperature can go above 38 C or above 100 F, so the best way is using sandwich bag. i have zippo for edc so the best way in dry season is to get zippo pouch, i tried carry zippo on my pocket which result in only 2 days worth of fuel because of very hot temperature, when i get on zippo pouch at least i can get 4 days worth of fuel on my zippo, thats my experienced so far, very satisfied with my zippo with sadwich bag mod and pouch
Oh that’s nice man !! Great comment too. I love the sandwich bag trick. It’s lasting u more on the pouch because it’s always standing up right and the air cools it down. Gets very hot on your warm leg with no air flow. Love from 🇨🇦
There's metal gaskets now. They're all over Amazon. It looks like the one that comes with that Zorro insert.

I am just buying my first zippos, i started out buying an armor brass and chrome with these caps, but after doing some more research i think im going to be buying a set of brass and chrome 1941 replicas and just putting some vaseline around the rim as i replace the insert, this seems to be the trick the old hats used to extend the fuel life and it actually worked. I also plan on carrying a zippo fuel pod on my keys anyway so i should be set. Great informative video!

Most conventional fills last Me For a week on liquid Fluid. If I'm going out for the Night I just "Top Off" & Don't worry about it. A zippo is an Accessory You get used to carrying and caring for.

My Zippo is pretty old, so I've never seen these rubber inserts before.
I solved the fluid evap problem. If I'm not going to be using it for a while, I slip a slice of mountain bike inner tube over the lid/body join. I've left my Zippo like that for over a month, and it's still got plenty of fluid when I start using it again.
Those are exactly my thoughts. Except for the trap door -- I was so infuriated by the shrinking and warping that it didn't occur to me that the trap door opens up a new way for the fluid to evaporate. My gaskets, two of them, shrunk within 3 DAYS. You didn't need callipers to prove it, it was visible to the naked eye. On reddit, I have heard from people who are happy with theirs, and someone told me that there are good ones and bad ones and that I should buy a lot of 100 gaskets, two or three will work. Naw, I won't be doing that. -- Filling the lighter through the trap hole was also messy, I spilled a lot of fluid because the packing didn't absorb it quickly enough.
Yeah use a piece of the medium or large freezer bag.

Great video. How long have you been using that gasket? Damn, I wish I knew the seller I got mine from, for mine still looks okay lol. With that said, I have to agree with you on them not being worth it in the long run.
Yeah I really don’t think they are. The freezer bag does a better job and when u noticed it’s ripped or has holes u just replace. Hey u never sent me Darth vader Lego figure like u said u would lol I should I took out some the nice gifts I sent u lol

Those gasket doesn't do any favor,and i think Zippo dont need to consume so much fluid,just need to refill it like 5-7 seconds and mostly it works like 3-4 days,i myself dont really remember when the last time i buy their fluid need to check it...but lets be honest...when we get a new Zippo we play with it right?thats why it's running out of gas faster😂

Yeah they ok. But they only fit that insert and I hate the chimney cap. Also the flame is small cause they’re no air vents

Just a novelty item. If u never use your zippo it might be helpful. But if your and everyday user. A zippo only carries so many lites anyways

I have used a similar looking gasket bought from Ali Express and I think it's bad but for completely different reasons which I find funny.. I assume there are different producers of these stuff because mine didnt rip or get eaten up at all over the couple months I've been using it in my daily. Instead the rubber got extremely hard and started giving my flame a weird plasticky smell.

Oh dang I wanted that crown royal pouch haha. Wasn’t available in Canada. For the price though these do work they are a fun novelty item and keep the bottom looking clean. But I don’t use or like them lol
