The players don’t generally have much say in who starts in Japanese sports. In this case, the coach is a high school girl, so the team is run as a committee much more than you would expect from a high school basketball team. Riki recognizes she doesn’t have the experience to have all the right answers so she collaborated with her team, especially her most trusted 2nd years, for the direction they want the team to move.

20:58 I think it's more of a Seirin thing simply because Riko, their coach, is also a second year. She still needs help from the Captain (Hyuga) and Vice-Captain (Kiyoshi).
Coach, just to clarify by "the wall" they mean they are stuck, they feel like they are not getting better anymore despite training,they feel they have reached their maximum potential yet they still lost. Also Hyuga is the person you refer as "senpai" he is also the only one who wears glasses and is good at 3 pointers so I think that will be easier to remember.
Coach u can pause if u need to, we value your opinions that’s why we’re watching!! We actually prefer u to pause and say what u need to say. It’s better than saying your thoughts while the episode is playing because whatever u assume they mean they might give u the answer right after or later in the episode but u might miss it out.

I really hope you react to Kuroko no basket more regularly because Kuroko no basket has a very deep story and when u forget about the previous episode, sometimes u don’t get it.
And I hope you react to this anime more often because u will def enjoy more! It’s my favorite sports anime
I agree, as well as forgetting some parts, the Series as a whole has 3 seasons + a movie and i really would like to see his reaction to the later seasons when it gets super good but its very easy to fall out of love or not enjoy something as good when you're watching 1 episode every week/10 days or so
-i dont want to rush him and i know he has a life unlike some of us lol but i did the math and it would take him 25 months to finish the series ( i think)

Kyoshi is kinda the leader of other group of Special players
Its not sports related but an anime i’d love to hear your opinion of (not even a reaction) is Shirobako which is an anime about an animation studio and the process of making anime. Its fairly wholesome overall (with some out there driving animation) but goes into considerable detail as an animator i’d love to hear your take on it.
Kagami still trusts Kuroko coach...

With the players having the say on who the starters are I think is more of a Japanese sports story trope. I find writers tend to ignore the coach in the majority of sports stories and have the players be the ones in charge.

C mitobe Pf kagami Sf koga Sg hyuga Pg izuki
This is the play:
Izuki dribble past half court then pass to kagami at elbow(he can shoot there), izuki'z guard will double kagami cuz izuki can't shoot three then izuki run to the basket asking for pass while mitobe run to baseline behind kagami.
If mitobe's guard follow him izuki get pass from kagami easy layup 2 points.
If mitobe's guard follow izuki mitobe get pass from kagami easy mid range 2 points.
If izuki's guard follow him kagami dribble to basket easy layup/dunk 2 points *NO ONE CAN STOP HIM* and/or maybe get foul for free throw(s).
If kagami's guard follow izuki kagami just shoot mid range 2 points over izuki's guard.
...
While those plays happens in one side koga give screen to hyuga at wing.
If hyuga get free of guard kagami pass for 3 points.
...
When kagami tired sub with kiyoshi, sub mitobe with tsuchi, sub koga with kuroko or sub izuki with kuroko but koga will dribble past half court and kuroko give hyuga screen.
With kiyoshi the play start at baseline not from elbow but everything is the same.

Those are basic basketball offense plays they can use cuz kagami is big threat from elbow and kiyoshi is threat from baseline while hyuga is more effective when free for three not still mentioning kuroko's offensive capabilities he's just giving screens!!

I am definitely enjoying these reactions a lot because it's interesting to hear what an athlete has to say about a sports anime, but the constant commenting on the animation is getting tiresome. It's the first season of a TV anime, more budget and time will be spent for the important moments and the quality will vary a lot, that's just what TV anime is like and we all know that. It's such a shame because I end up skipping forward a lot f the time when he goes on animation tangents. He advertises this as "coach reacts" so I don't see the point in commenting on the animation so much.
