Yeah, Stern's show was insufferable. It was long form interview but it still had the constant input of traditional radio. Hence why Rogan's podcast eventually grew to the biggest on the planet. Let the guests talk
He seems like a pretty humble guy. He never says if his brother is wealthy he just says "he does all right" he has the respect not to involve personal issues in public
Vince is actually one of those guys I would love to sit and have a beer with, just to hear his own stories or his version of some of the more well known stories out there.
If only they knew the goldmine they had their hands with him sitting in that room. So much knowledge and history. He would be like Bruce Prichard, Jim Cornette, and every other wrestler COMBINED

He became a millionaire because of his dad. He became a billionaire because of Stone Cold Steve Austin.
I never realized robin cuts off howard mid question. Just as vince is about to speak, robin is already spitting out another question. She doesnt even let vince answer. 😂😂
That's what women do, they talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk.. but nothing important comes out of they're mouths
sakaralakabar Well, in reality that stare was because Jamie was saying something negative about one of their sponsors. Regardless, I think it’s known that Jamie always has the freedom to chime in.
Robin ruined and Howard who can be the best interviewer didn’t have his fastball here. It’s a shame because Vince seems very open here, which is very rare.
Wow, Howard made some really good points that really apply today. From his question of whether Vince would ever get tired of the business, to his questioning of would Vince REALLY trust his children to continue the WWE at the level that it was at the time of this interview? Because at this point, in 2020, Vince's stubborn desire to still run things at 70 years old only proves his point right. Beside's Robin's annoying interruptions, this was a great interview.
This was such a great interview. I remember watching the entire thing when it aired years ago. Can't believe this was 20 years ago, Vince is in his mid 70s now & still going!
Gotta admit I always thought Vince was a bit of a douche but he comes across really good here.. he handles some hot, personal questions with humour and grace and seems like a pretty legit guy 👏👍
It would be great if Howard would bring Vince in again. There is so much interesting stuff behind the scenes in the wrestling business over the years. The whole "territory" conversation got hijacked by Robin, but there's a TON of good stuff in there.
A day will come, when we ALL shall miss & deeply respect & admire Vince in his passing. Will definitely be a sad & memorable day🙏 with tributes from around the world & WWE UNIVERSE. You will be missed & remembered Forever💯
For sure. '97-'02 was the highwater mark of that era (Attitude into Ruthless Aggression)...I gradually stopped watching in 2003 and then only watched sporadically. There was still some good stuff in the '00s, but the last 10 years have largely been a disaster. It's a shame.
Still makes hella money. There’s a lot of things they can’t do (show excess blood, head shots, sexualizing women, rampant steroids, excessive cursing) so they try to do what they can, the best they can. If you don’t like the product, oh well. There are more kids that watch more than ever and every wrestle mania sells out. But let me end with, I agree with you. The attitude era was amazing. Ruthless aggression era was pretty cool, the product nowadays isn’t as good.
Times change, the world got sensitive and plus Benoit the dude who murdered his family kinda killed the business. There was already people who already look at wrestlers like circus animals.
Vince seems very relaxed and comfortable in this interview. Would like to see the full interview. He doesn’t open up to many so Howard stern good stuff
The rapidfire questioning makes it difficult for any guest to truly open up… They’re talking a mile a minute especially Robin… It’s borderline ruining the interview
Only the Audio of this has existed online for the past 10 years... Finally we get to see Vince actually in the studio.. If only we could get the entire interview😭🤣
Vince gets a lot of shit these days for "killing" the wrestling business. However, if his father wasn't even a millionaire back then and he owned one of the largest territories, then Vince did the right thing. He did open it up for much bigger paydays for everyone. As long as you worked under their brand.
How he became a billionaire: 1: don’t pay for your talents travel or hotel 2 : pay your developmental talent a pittance 3: gouge you fan base with over priced merchandise and ticket prices 4: make a huge amount money of the talent but don’t fairly share the money between yourself and said talent
Smoky mountain wrestling was my joint back in the early to mid 90s. We only had regular t.v because we lived in the hills of Ohio & it was before the small satellite dishes became available. Use to get home from school and watch it. That was one of the Appalachian territory's Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky etc. Good ole days.
Man if I could hear that Vince laugh again in 2020 that would be amazing. You don’t see much Vince interviews anymore. And the XFL in 2020 was doing great but COVID took it out.
I haven't seen a Howard Stern interview yet where it isn't 85% questions firing across each other where the guest just sits there trying to get a sentence out.
Interesting seeing Vince pausing a bit while mentioning his age in which he gains control of the wwwf... Also there's a bit of hesitation on Vince's part, when Howard glorifys Vince's crushing the other territories... almost regretful...what a fascinating person Vince is
When he mentioned Shane's wife Marissa he doesn't have to worry about her cuz she comes from a wealthy family cuz her father is Chef Boyardee, so both Shane & Marissa are both well set money wise.
Someone needs to send this clip to Jim Cornette. I'd love to hear his take on it. Vince said his father wasn't even a millionaire when Vince took over the territory and went global with it. I wonder if Corny would agree.
Interrupt him a few more times, Robin. That's not really annoying or anything.
I was thinking the exact same thing before I read your comment.
OH NOOOOOO!!! Most people agree that my vids are the worst on UA-cam. I agree to disagree. Please agree to disagree with the haters, dear cel
Good Lord, you brought the man on the show. You're not funny minus the steel business quip, let him talk.
it's been 19 years let it go XD
It'a moments like these that make me go "People really call this one of the best radio shows of all time?"
"Are you a billionaire?"
Vince: I dont know, it sounds good" loooool Vince is hilarious
Poor Vince can’t even finish a sentence
The so interrupt a lot with another question. Howard never lets them finish talking
