- Is GT7 (PSVR2) a Real Racing Simulator, an Arcade Racer, or Simcade, but why Does it Even Matter? - We are headed to Daily Race B in Gran Turismo 7 in PSVR2 to discuss if GT7 is a Simcade, an Arcade, or true Simulator racing experience. There are a lot of aspects to touch upon when it comes to racing simulators and what matters and what doesn't but in the end it comes down to having fun and playing what you enjoy. Remember, these are all just games and if you want to become a real race care driver, you will need to leave your house and get to the track in a real car!

I don’t know what you call it but I play psvr2 and gt7 everyday and it’s the best experience ever. I have even played iracing on top of the line rigs and I prefer gt7 on VR.
Great fun!
That's not the issue, the issue is when ppl want to talk shit (because racing is hyper competitive). u have to understand that the easier the game is the less credit you should get and gt7 vs acc the difficulty level is massive. So if ur playing gt7 for fun then great but if u playing gt7 claiming to be the best digital car driver there is then u need to be called out
I work for a living. I just play for fun. We are talking about VR and the immersion you get out of it. I don’t have time to play for hours a day. I get 30 min if I’m lucky. Enough to hop on VR and do a race to get rid of the itch.
@@jorgeblasini123Here's another issue. If you're sim racing without VR, you ain't sim racing in the purest sense.
The money you spend I iRacing takes it to another level of simulation 😅. Anyway as long as the guy sitting in front of his screen is having fun... All of these games brought some normal people to real racing with pretty good skills and that only makes them enough to call tell simulators. Nobody became a racer after "learning" on NFS or Burnout making them Arcade and still fun games. Drive, Dream and smile people!
Yup, there are definitely GT7 drivers who were able to transfer their skills learned to the real driving world. Plus, you can also transfer your GT7 skills right over to any other racing simulator game and be just fine. You can not transfer your NFS skills to iRacing. 😀
I think gt7 in cockpit mode in vr makes it more of a sim , unlike some views where u sitting on the roof just takes any realism straight away
Haven't played Acc yet but cant wait to try. I hear its hard but great. Gt is great i love it in vr2. I need to get into Acc. I hear great things.
Problem with ACC is no VR support on PS5 and on PC the VR implementation is bad.
There's a video with the 911 GTRs for real versus gt7 online and was only out by a few tenths of a seconds in reality on the nordschleife so I'd say it's pretty good Sim
Yup, sounds good to me.
Of course it’s not real, but it sure is real good. The gt7 VR experience is on another level.
GT7 is a sim whereas ACC is not
I absolutely love GT7 PSVR2. It’s incredible
for me two things are most important in a racing game, good physics and fun factor.i think gt7 is unbeatable in this combination factor
GT7 definitely has both.
There always will be lovers and haters.. of anything.. that's life .. The secret is , that if you hate it.. don't play it... I have many racing sims.. and I play GT7 coz I like it ... enough said 🤐
👍
I play Forza Motorsport because I like it
Play what you enjoy but I’ve always considered it to be a more of simcade with a focus on car collecting.
I don't collect any cars. 😄
Yeah that's right, Simcade is the right term. No one claims it is a arcade game. And i understand the fun in gt7 very well, but it is not a great sim. But it is a great game :) I have no eggs in any basket, i find iracing isnt that realistic as well. iFactor 2 and AC, even AMS 2 with the new updates have better physics then iracing. Iracing hast just the best competetive online mode.
@@themadnes5413 I play everything from ACC to Wreckfest. (I’ll check out iRacing eventually but I just don’t have the time to commit to it and it would be a bit of a waste of money right now) If GT7 was available on PC I’d get around to playing it at some point too.
I know gt7 hasn't been out that long but i hope they implement vr2 into the future gt games. I play just story 90% of the time and still love it.
Planning to buy VR2 after watching many of your videos. Thx for helping me to make up my mind.
Qn: Is the VR2 (by its ear buds) sound surround or just stereo? Do you recommend buying some other hearing device like Pulse Elite or Pulse Explore?
I believe the earbuds are just stereo, but don't quote me on that. I use them, and they serve their purpose. I am sure other headsets would sound better. I wasn't looking to spend more money than what the headset cost when I purchased it.
It's a good question . Im proud of what they've accomplished, thats for sure, vr2 , Olympics. Who'd have thought? Its getting closer and closer to real life. In my opinions , I wish they could work on the wind model and different noises winds can make in Real life which is so exhilarating. I wish they would enable degree rotation of my choosing for turning the wheel, like acc , because its hard for me to turn the wheel ..in the end of the day , do I want a real life sim ? Well .., yes and no , no in the sense that Im not a car race engineer who knows who to tune ,,camber ,toe or suspension,.. because I can't feel the car moving.. no because , dont want my car to break and have to go to the pit to fix it ,although I wouldn't mind this approach on a
daily. D ,(damages). But for the rest .., yes , real life sim all the way.
Real damage with repairs definitely wouldn't work on shorter races that are 4 to 5 laps. You would be in the pits longer than the race most of the time. 😄 I think it would make people drive differently, though, and there would probably be much less contact if real damage was on and cars didn't auto repair in a short time.
@@thecasualracinggamer
They could easily replace daily A with something better ..
Totally agree with your thoughts on ghosting, not real and does not belong in racing. I do disagree though that it should be eliminated at all levels. The lower level drivers have to learn how to overcome a wrecking or penalty serving car.
I think the issue with lower level lobbies is that being on console, you have people playing who dont care about being good or take the racing seriously so I think GT7 has to cater to two different types of players. I agree, though. I wouldn't have an issue if ghosting completely disappeared. It really caught me off guard the first time I saw it.
In lower levels it's impossible to avoid accidents sometimes. The way the penalty system is, without ghosts a few terrible drivers and a few malicious drivers could ruin everyone's race and no one would advance. It's literally a game of roulette depending which lobby you get placed in.
Its definitely a simcade. But that doesn't inherently make it bad. I fully enjoy gt7. Sure there are things that need to be better about it. But what other racing title thats even semi-realistic can you randomly decide "I wanna race" and be in a race within 15 minutes? Accessibility is important.
GT7 is a sim whereas ACC is not
@@electronbashful540 acc is definitely a sim.
iRacing does have a lot of online races going on all day long. Of course, you need to own all the different content to jump back and forth to different races. Otherwise, the more popular races run each hour if you want to keep racing the same thing.
@@thecasualracinggamer fair enough. I tend to automatically overlook iracing because of its pricing model. I'm sure the game itself is great. I just don't agree with paying for content that can be completely taken from you if you don't pay the ransom they call a subscription fee. They need to pick one model or the other. Doing both isn't fair to the consumer.
I agree with you and other commenters. No racing game is realistic, they are all mostly Simulated games. GT7 looks like a decent racing game to have fun with and looks like the car physics are very good and drivable. GT7 is much better than an Arcade-ish game.
I do only SIM racing games on my PC and have many different racing games on STEAM. I do not have a Play Station system to be able to try GT7 game, and the game is not available on the PC platform. But like I said before and watching other videos, GT7 does look like a decent racing game. Great graphics, good looking tracks/cars, and the cars look like they are fun to drive with a wheel controller.
Pretty sure this GT7 games will never be developed for PC systems. On the PC we do have similar racing games such as ACC, AMS 2, RFactor 2, Assetto Corsa, F1-23, etc, etc. I do not do IRacing because of the subscriptions we would have to pay. Anyway, thanks for the video on GT7 and take care.
I saw a rumor a couple of months back about GT7 coming to PC. I'm not sure how real that actually is, but it would be great for the series if one day in the future, it did. Of course only if it supported PCVR. 😀
@@thecasualracinggamer Ah, Thanks for that information. I guess Time shall Tell if the PC platform gets a GT7 game. Take care.
Here we go again. Just play and enjoy what you makes you happy. No need to rationalise or justify anything. No need to prove if a simcade is a real sim or if a real sim is real enough. Do you my guy
Except some people don't know what makes them happy or know what they want because they haven't played any sim racing style game. So it's good sometimes to explain the differences of games and not say one is necessarily better than the other.
@@thecasualracinggamer I hear you bud
ive played GT7 in several leagues and i ditched it for iracing! Ive played ACC, iRacing, AMS2, Raceroom etc. Iracing is by far the best. I dont see Max verstappen or Lando Norris on GT7, CaseyKerwin, Kyle Larson are on iRacing... so ill play the sim the pros pick lol GT7 is for casual people. iracing is for people for want to be drivers
No doubt overall from A to Z iRacing offers the most comprehensive, overall racing simulation experience. Any casual player can hop into without a problem though and can easily jump from GT7 to it and be fine. The same driving skills are required to be successful in both games.
As for NASCAR ovals, iRacing is the only choice. They have no competition.
👌👍👍
Driving and physics are good, but the gameplay rules are making this game arcade, like you said ghosting is a huge problem, pit comms are nonexistent, focus is entirely on racing vs AI, they don't care about online Sports, I drive it from time to time but it's utterly boring, they can easily change the rules and make this game properly competitive, but that's not going to happen, their main goal aren't race sim drivers.
I think more serious sim guys might be racing in GT7 leagues with their own custom rules to be closer to what you would see in iRacing.
@@thecasualracinggamerThey should just add Daily D race, or replace A or B with this new one, where there would be no ghosting, real damage etc.
Yes iracing is a real simulator of the cost of racing. 😂
GT7 is a sim whereas ACC is not
Hmmm, I think ACC is would definitely fall under racing sim as well.
