Just got my M21H with GTFC40 high cri emitter at 1800K tint. It has the same runtime at turbo - 2 minutes and it steps down. 40% brightness is stabilised. That tint is just gorgeous! Same color as a candle light or fireplace. It makes a perfect campsite light. It doesn't irritate eyes even at high brightness. And you can walk around the campsite without disturbing people unlike those cold temperature lights. It also seems a good choice for reading light at 1% brightness. Just get yourself a 40mm diffuser from the official convoy store. I recomment to all flashlight enthusiasts to try that emitter at 1800k. In reality it is not so orange ish like in some video reviews, it's rather yellowish.
The thumb nail pic made this light look a lot bigger. When you took it out the box, it put it in to a better perspective. I like the form factor of this light... for 30 bucks, gt looks pretty appealing! Thanks for the content!!
The run time is pretty impressive, these 70.3 emitters are so efficient it's exciting to think what future generation emitters will do. The cri rating of R9050 is giving the R9 rating (so the R9 rating is 50) which is how well it renders deep red colors, that's the important rating because most led emitters render most colors pretty good but have a hard time with R9. It's usually a better metric than just straight cri rating, an emitter can have terrible R9 rating but still render other colors well enough to get a decent cri rating like 80 cri. The nichia 519a has up to R9080 or R9 rating of 80, for reference. Why Simon listed the other 70.3 option as R70 I don't know but it should say 70 cri instead. I think the 70 cri is the better option, if you wanted a high cri version of this light I think the gt fc40 would be a much better option, it has some of the very best cri and can still output 2000-2500 lumens. I have a light (m21b) with a gt fc40 in 1800k and it's by far my favorite light for just messing around or for around the house, it's strange because the light coming out looks deep yellow to slightly orange yet still manages to display colors much better than I would think possible and it's incredibly bright it just doesn't have amazing throw.
The problem with LED is that it tends to render too much red on warmer tints. 3000k is my sweet spot. 2000k or lower just ruins the blues and greens. 🙂
I doubt a spring bypass will make any difference on this light. The higher amp betteries didn't make any difference so the output limitation is in the boost driver. But that is also what gives it the nice sustained output
Hello dear Smoothered Crome. You have both lanterns on hand, and I am very interested in the answer to the question of which of these two has more flood light, i am talking about Convoy M21H and Sofirn Sp33s. Thanks in advance.
Looks like it throws a pretty good distance. I thought with that tir it would be mostly flood. BTW i got my D1K 70.3. its brighter or just as bright than my quad 519a D4K.

Thank you my friend I appreciate your comment 🙏 I will definitely pick up a gtfc40 led, I haven't tried one out yet but heard alot of good things about it.
So I've ordered this with the 70 CRI XHP70.3. All my other 70.3 are high CRI. Do you think I'm going to regret this? Are the 70CRI noticeably brighter for you guys? What's the real world advantage of low CRI here? I'm bracing to regret this one...
@@G13RS Yeah I really like the light. The increased power I would say is noticeable. And it has a beautiful tint which is actually nicer than any of my high CRI XHPs. So yep, it's a winner. It's shame the host isn't a bit prettier but it's super functional.
Whats the difference between the 70.3 R9050 and the R70? I thought the R9050 was the high cri version of the normal xhp70.3 but there's prolly more to it.
@@alanrabinowitz7111 He was looking for around 3500-4000 lumen you wouldn't be getting that number if they sent him the 9050 based on the cell phone description he shows in the video they're similar but the xhp70.3 hi R70 version is the one that would get u 4000LM it wouldn't matter what battery is used in the 9050 the white box doesn't say weather it's the 9050 or the R70 probably the 9050 which is 3000
With any flashlight optics; you'll loose a lot of lumens with that small inlet diameter , thus you'll end up with a false reading. Thats just my 2 cents bro, Anyway thank you for the highlight of this light🔦👍🏼
With a "frosted" TIR like that, it's probably just better to get the GT-FC40. You wouldn't really be worried about pumping out max lumens, and any throw advantage that the XHP70.3 has over the other emitter options would be wasted with that TIR.
I agree. But with the flat optics, you might encounter imperfections on the beam that's why I'll probably get a frosted lens also. I love Convoys because they're cheap and resilient to drops or wet conditions but with the newer releases, it got too gimmicky that it sacrificed the practicality of it. The solid contact on the driver will dent batteries and the charging ports just invites water. Lol. I'll just stick with the older models.
@@wilx2703it is, I also have the L8 and it's impressive. I have the sofirn q8 plus that can do 20,000 lumens but I still find the L8 more impressive at only roughly 5000 lumens, it can almost feel disorienting or just mind blowing when you have a long open area and you move around with the L8, it just throws such a big bright beam that is being manipulated so easily by your hand that it can feel strange. I think the L8 is way better than most lep lights because you get most of the range but 10x brighter and bigger beam and for only $80, not saying anything bad about lep or that they don't have their spot but I think the only lep I'd personally want would be the acebeam w50 but it's insanely expensive, like $2000-$3000.

Maybe you got the R9050 variant by mistake? It happened for Convoy before. That would explain good tint and sub 3000 lumen reading.
So there is r70 and r90 version of 5000k temp?

I think that throw would be significantly lower with gt-fc40 because both bigger die and lower output, but we need to see some measurements.

Honestly the sfn43 is a good led but just produces a lot of heat in my experiences, I don't know anything about the gt9090.
Is that the R70 or R9050? I heard the R70 is 4000 lumens? The 9050 is 1000 less but higher CRI.

Pretty close IMHO but I would say I get more lumens out of my 70.3.
