  • Hi
This is a chat about the HW44 pistol in .22
Forgot to mention in the video Weihrauch claim 125 shots per fill in .22.
I have also included a bit of a follow up on the HW110 after some feed back from owners of the rifles.
    Hope it is of interest
    Cheers!
Thanks to Phil and Tracey at Leicestershire Airguns for loaning me these rifles for test.
Without their help I wouldn't be able to do these videos.

Good review, nice real world presentation.
I've got the 110 carbine and the 44. I love them both but the magazine system sends me crazy, I just can't get used to how fiddly it is. If it's not positioned just so, it won't come out, or go in. I've had the rifle for over a year and it didn't put me off buying the pistol in August this year ( 2022), I just wish it was smoother though. I have the factory scope on it, which is great and a silly red laser which is fun, both are bang on at 15 yards. As an aside, I'm still awaiting the silencer that was ordered at the same time, which is annoying because it is a tad noisy and I know from my rifle how quiet they can be. I'm in the UK and getting a bit fed up with the wait!
I noticed you dry fired it, I see everyone does that. No need, just push the cocking lever half way back and you'll feel it engage, then pull the trigger, no air is released, then push the lever home. This is useful if, like me, you store your guns with full mags and don't want to rely on the safety. I just don't like the idea of leaving it primed.

Thanks for the feed back and your comments. Some great tips on de cocking there! Hope the silencer turns up soon!

Your right about 110 had 3 new ones all lost power and they still sell them in the shops with the issue

Got the 110 not had any problems as of yet but hw tuning will sort the problem without breaking the bank

THE 110 BUILD QUALITY IS A JOKE! AND THE SAFETY CATCH IS SO NOISY!!!

Definitely more of a budget Weihrauch compared to the HW100

Hi Michael, I did before lockdown. Not so much now.

If you were going to shoot vermin, would you choose the .177 or .22?

    • @gardenguns
      @gardenguns  2 роки тому

Hi Paul. It would depend on what I am shooting and where. Generally I prefer .22 for rats and squirrels around the farm or woodland and .177 for everything else.

Thank you for the reply. I’m looking to buy one of these next week for shooting rats in and around chicken sheds. I’m new to air rifles and couldn’t decide between the two.

I forgot to add that my original question is specific to HW 44 for rats.

In which case I would stick to .22 and get a good red dot sight. You should be good for about 15 yards for humane dispatch. Any further and you should use a rifle.

I agree , a little on the expensive side , but look at it like this , an ESTATE Vauxhall astra doesn't cost twice that of the saloon version does it ? Same technology , same tooling of the machinery involved , just in a slightly smaller package ... and hence ( as which the HW44 ) slightly smaller price point ... The most disappointing thing about this pistol is ( as far as I'm aware ) there's no stock addition available .. unlike my PP700 , which at £200 plus £25 for stock extension is super accurate .. and knocks out a very healthy 5.6fpe ( initially on purchasing was chronoing at 9.5fpe , soon lowered that ) too be fair you could have pushed the HW44 out to 25 yrds ..

I agree Mark. As you point out with pistols like the PP700 performing so well it is very hard to justify the price though.

Sorry just watched your review about this pistol and here lies my gripe.
    It's a pistol not a hw110.
It should be reviewed ASAP pistol.
No Red Dot . No resting.
If you run a gun down because you haven't reviewed it for what it is then don't do one.
    Just my opinion

      Hi mate.
      Not just you.
Trying to get an honest review with a pistol.
Watched a guy with one in the West Country and he had a scope. It's a pistol I was shouting at him.
Can't find a single video with the air arms alpha Pro target pist.
      Cheers

No worries. As I said I respect your opinion. I said it how I see it. Red dots on pistols are good fun btw! However my HW40 is awesome with it’s superb open sights. Plus the cocking isn’t really optics friendly!
I try yo make shooting as fun and varied as possible for those that I get to introduce to the sport. Sometimes the only variation you can get is to put an optic on instead of the open sights.
Providing somebody is smiling and wants another day at the range, I consider that the biggest win.

Very over priced with terrible balance in your hand, you can buy a far better proper target pistol for similar money
