HW99s Tuning
Переглядів 1,8 тис.Місяць тому
So the TX200 HC I traded my HW80 in for is tuned by Phil Crampton at Ratworks. This got me thinking, how much difference can a tuning a rifle really make? Also will I, as a pretty average shooter, notice the difference? To answer this question I have put my hand in my pocket, forked out the cash and sacrificed my 99s. It is now at Ratworks for the full treatment. Follow up video will be in 6-8 ...

    Hi, I own six different HW springer models and with all i was capable to shoot one centimeter groups on 30 yards straight out of the box. Some of them i tuned anyway for noise reduction and to get a smoother shooting cycle. Your HW99S will be a dream to shoot with when you'll get it back but te be honest i think you have to work a bit more on your shooting skills too. A tuned rifle don't make a good shooter. I ordered an HW80K from Weihrauch about four years ago. Absolutely loved that lazy thunk. I wanted an 80K specifically because they're engineered to do so much more than 11 ft/lbs, and so our UK limits wouldn't put any strain on the internals and it would last ages. I recently traded the 80K, my 77K, and my HW45 in and walked out instead wit two entry level PCPs (a Webley Nemesis and a BSA Ultra). Although I was sorry to see it go, I don't miss the weight. It was an absolute pain carrying it about without a sling. Definitely one to hang onto if you want an investment that will appreciate, but I needed some guns I was actually going to enjoy using. I've had springers for 20 years and have just moved over to PCP. The difference is night and day. I'll always love shooting springers and will definitely get myself a TX200 soon, but for now I'm enjoying the transition to reduced recoil and multishot.

    Hello Sir, Thank you for a great review of this fantastic, beautiful Air Arms TX200. The Air Arms TX200, Weihrauch's HW80, 97, 77, 90, 99s, Diana Air King Pro, Walthur's LGV and LGU etc, are all fantastic, amazing air rifles, and to pick out the best I think would depend on peoples mechanical knowledge/apptitude, personal preferences, etc. Personally, I think the levels of differences are so fine now, and we all have a preference for different reasons. Personally, I'm in awe of all of them. The TX is pcp accurate. It has the best, most gorgeous blueing, and it's fishscale chequering, trigger, for me, is a knee trembler. The HW80 is an air rifle so capable and popular in the 1980's, and so, so able, even today. As a teenager in the 1980's, I so, so wanted one, though I hadn't hope. Now I have one, its so so special to me, especially since I made my own laminated stock for it with just hand tools and a passion I'd built up from being a youngster. The HW's 77 were winning so many field target competitions, and the Walthur's were such a solidly constructed bank vault of a unit. Absolutely fantastic. I think the side lever models, Diana Air King Pro, with its sliding sledge assembly, Models 52, and 56, are more fantastic examples of German engineering. For me, I just think they were very heavy, and a tough day would be had, to use them for hunting. Their side levers weren't silent and a little clunky, though this for me doesnt detract from being totally awesome units. I just think, anyone who's interested in air rifles today, can go and purchase these totally awesome units, enjoy them and have the time of their lives, once they're familiar, and learn how to manage their recoil. Although I'd have loved one, I haven't had the life in air rifles you have, I humbly don't think we a best, as such. I think we're so, so lucky to have at our disposal the range we have. We have amazing kit, fantastically, solidly manufactured, many different ideas and mindsets that should appeal to everyone interested and passionate about air rifles. Best wishes, Ian.

      @gardenguns Hello Sir, Thank you for your reply and compliment. Yes, I totally agree with you. However, there is one saying that haunts me. "Beware of the hunter with only one gun" Like many of us, my friend, we are passionate and enthusiastic about our sport. That means we accrue kit, things, yearned for all our lives. Then you realise, how am I ever going to have time to utilise all my kit? I try and get out as much as I can, and I make notes regarding distances, hold over/under, etc. I adore my air rifles and owning kit that I never thought I would. Getting out, using my kit, enjoying it and the outdoors, nature, etc. It's just fantastic. There's so much around now regarding mental health, and I support that. Unfortunately, I don't see things improving. We are given more and more work and less time to do it in. Our roads get busier, and generally, nothing works. It's always somebody else's fault, and that person is on leave today! Really!! I'm so grateful I can go and sit in a beautiful wood, settle, and watch the wildlife. After not very long, the birds/animals except me as normal, after not very long, and it's just an amazing, gorgeous place to be. Best wishes, Ian

      @@ianwoods1384 I don’t think the benefits of shooting on helping with mental health gets enough credit. Unfortunately mental health and shooting is a very tricky subject. Most of the terrible events we hear about are done by those with serious mental health issues. It is a shame that the failures in identifying these people and their problems before they reach for a gun, are not highlighted by the media rather than just blaming fire arms for the final result. @@barriemercer5102 I had run out of the rifles favourite pellet. So I used a good Allrounder and one it shoots well with. Just discovered your channel sir. In the more recent video about the hw99s you mentioned people don’t find your content and I have to confirm. I’ve been watching as many videos as possible on the dreamline tactical compact and never came across yours! Subbed👊🏻 do you know if there are even shorter barrels for this rifle? I’m thinking about getting one but want it to be as short as it possibly can be:) gonna be a rat gun, shooting hades, don’t care about the shot count:) would the tube version have a shorter barrel perhaps?

    • @gardenguns
      @gardenguns Місяць тому

      @@kims2r Thanks for the sub! I will have to speak to my nephew and get some advice on boosting my you tube presence! As for the barrels, as far as I know 300mm in .177 or .22is as short as fx goes. That would be for any model. You could speak to a gunsmith and get your barrel cut down and re crowned. For the shortest package the smallest carbon bottle would be best as the tubes are longer.

      @kims2r Місяць тому

      @@gardenguns Is yours 300mm? I would’ve hoped it would look shorter, even with the silencer that seemed longer than what I had in mind:) thanks for your reply! Regarding the algorithm, it seems very moody and sometimes random to me… also everything regarding rifles and shooting might get some drag from UA-cam itself, not sure though:) hope you take off soon!

      @@kims2r yes mine is a 300. To be fair to it the only shorter gun I have owned was my old BSA ULTRA MMC. That thing is a legend. The FX in my set up is pretty short, and sweet to handle. The foldable AR stock helps as well.

    Great review, I’m currently shooting a HW77K, a decision based entirely on aesthetics, there’s just something I don’t like about the TX200 stock, and to be honest I really can’t imagine how a TX200 would shoot any better than a HW77 or 97K, so I’m incredibly happy with my choice, however, I may have to satisfy my curiosity at some point and get behind a TX200 (subject to my wifes approval of course).

Ive had it short stroked, 10.5fpee ,V mach d, 11.2 fpe, and FACAir Arms at just sub 14fpe. I still cannot after all this time consistently get reasonable groups with it.Probably me, but my CFX gets much tighter groups with far less sffort.
