Every Hole at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York | Golf Digest - Спорт
I shot a 59 there. Then found out there were 9 more holes left to play.
Shot 61 on front. 49 on back. By far the toughfest for an honest 8 handicap. Oak Hill a tough second.
This is just superb, been searching for "golf basics for beginners" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Keniden Benilliam Release - (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my buddy got great success with it.
You had us in the first half, not gonna lie
Exactly.. 105. That 11th hole is just unreal.
Welcome to golf my friends...she is a cruel mistress..
In my opinion, The Black is the greatest golf course this side of the Atlantic. We can't play Oakmont nor Augusta, but The Black welcomes all who dare test her
Best course I've ever played, if u ever get the opportunity you gotta play
The best public course in NY state hands down.
This is going to be the best PGA championship in a very long time it’s so awesome to see this major played here and at this time of year
John Cocktoasten Koepka wins spoiler alert 😂😂😂😂😂
looks so intimidating
Bethpage is one of the best golf courses for a major championship. It has everything you want and need: classic design, difficult, and has plenty of room for spectators. Let’s hope we continue to see Bethpage for years to come in either the US Open or PGA Championship. It’ll be interesting how they set it up when they have the Ryder Cup there.
This course looks like a beast
This video doesn’t do those bunkers justice, they are MASSIVE in person. Absolutely gorgeous but terrifying and humbling
I love walking the Black Course and carrying my own bag
joyous
This is the best course overview video I've ever seen. Everything's perfectly labelled w/yardages, the cadence of the music and the editing on the cinematography was perfect. Seriously good stuff guys, ya'll should have these for every major championship.
Played it last year. 82 (I’m a 7 hdcp) greatest 82 of my life!!! Loved every second of it. I can’t wait to play it again. If you’re in the rough, hack it out and play for bogey.
I was a 5 handicap in 2000 when I first played it. 104 degrees on that track and I melted that day. Played so well though the tees were way up. Doubled 15, bogey, bogey, par on 18(in the dark) to shoot 74. Amazing experience!
I live 7 minutes away and play Black twice a summer. It is so physically demanding to walk. It is a spectacular course.
This course is relentless. There’s no let up and every hole is unique and designed as one of its own. So many courses have hole after hole that become so redundant. This course has such character. Not very often you have a par-5 (4th) that plays to a shorter yardage than a par-4 (7th). Bombers seem to do well here. So many big carries and so many greens you’ve got to hit it high and soft. Not too many holes you can run it up. One of the best tracts in the world.
That’s a course that’s not a product of a good course though. It’s made for long hitters. Not every golfer has a chance. Maybe 20 guys have a legit chance here IMO.
Brandon Gavin totally agree that it does reduce the field to a select few who can bomb it. And I do agree that that doesn’t make a course “great”. But I think the Black is an exception to that and is a classic, timeless golf course.
@@BrandonGavin_EDC Nick Faldo set the course record and drove it 260 yards.
Keith Hobbs when though because it’s even longer now than it was in 2002
It’s a crazy good course I agree. I’m just a fan of designs that reward strategy and working the ball to score well.
I have only played here once last summer. I can recall every shot I hit here. I can't wait to play it again once the PGA championship is over.
@Golden Runway Getting a tee time is sinple if you have time. You have to wait. I am an OUT of state resident and I got on with ease. They have an online booking system now so that makes it easier. They track it so you can only book 3 days out so if you don't mind waiting you can get on. People usually book times then try to fill it and then cancel what they can't. I waited till the afternoon before I went out and got a Sweet time. You can find mostly singles and twosomes but I saw some good 4 some times open up last minute. The online booking also does a background check so takes a couple days. There is an out of state price so keep that mind too.
Hidden gem for so many years. Gotta give credit to the USGA for seeing the Major potential in it when they decided to get it back into form. It was run down and not taken care of for so many years, and NOW look at it. Gem. Classic. Beast.
Great job on this video! Perfectly done!
Wow, Hole 4..beautiful.
Love it! Played this course at least 50 times on wgt and still love to play again
Looks lovely.
one of the most beautiful things i've ever seen
Very well done.
What an incredible course. I consider myself very lucky to live so close and pay just $65 to play such a renowned course. I try to play it a few times each year, boy it's a tester!!
sonnick Do you just sleep over or show up super early?
@@Thunshot I've never slept there. Weekdays on the Black aren't that difficult to get as a walk-up. Weekends are much tougher.
I'm going to practice round on the Wednesday. Any advice for parking or getting around?
Love these
Very well done
good content guys thanks
Oml it’s soooo clean looking
i love courses with that look
I’m going there for the 3rd and 4th round!!!!! So excited! LETS GO RORY!!
Ditto. I'll see you there! lol
MoMoMyPup10 WOO HOO!!
@@DailyDrivenGolf -- yeah it's me again! Who you got this week?
MoMoMyPup10 MCILROY!!!!! is that even a question!?
Well done .
Its Its amazing how difficult this course can be with putting greens that are not difficult at all.
Thing is, they are difficult. They're just not intimidating visually. Just very hard to read, and the pros hate that. If somehow it dries out up there it could be interesting on Sunday.
I’ve always wanted to play the Black Course
Bring it!! 😊
The place 16 is going to happen
I've played it. All I can say is that no matter what you have heard, its much more difficult than you think it is going to be. Sam Snead supposedly walked off in disgust claiming it was not a fair test of a golfers ability.
This is one tough course … plenty of distance, lots of sand, narrow fairways, definite "no-go" areas lining fairways and around some of the greens, plus greens that are demanding. Going to be a fun PGA to watch
More of these vids pleeeeease!!
I'm pretty sure I could shoot in the low 70s...and then on the back nine...
Replace 'back nine' with 'second hole' and you've got a joke more appropriate for my skill level :P
Lol...for me the cadence would be: "give me another snowman" and praying for nothing higher.
Boom-tish!
I played it a few years ago, well, most of it, we ran out of daylight after 14. It helps to be in good shape, even with caddies we were all pretty tired even without having to climb up 15 (it's walking only, caddies or pull carts allowed). As a mid-teen handicap I was just hoping for a few pars, I managed that on 1, 6, and 14.
Fireeeeeee.
Looks like the USGA/ Open set up. It takes the running shot out of equation as nearly every hole the fairway stops well short of the green & replaced by deep rough.
2025 Ryder here we go 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Such a fun course. I've played it twice even though I suck. First time was 2 days before they shut it down for The Barclays and the rough was so bad you'd lose your ball even if you knew exactly where it went in. Second time the feels like was 33 degrees so not the best golf weather. Will be playing it more this summer. The rates are great for a public course. $65 on weekdays and $75 on weekends.
metsfan1324 only for New York residents
@@The-ct1xq Yes! Sorry should have mentioned that
150 for out of towners not bad for such a great track though.
Tiger's too old to win this beast! One of the young guys with the best drive accuracy.
Capital G true by the way he doesn’t win (spoiler alert)😂😂😂😂😂
He did pretty well when he won the Open there in 2002. He was the only player in the field to finish under par. And he was only 1 under.
We’d all love to play it regardless of how insanely tough it would be. Looks like such an awesome design
Ryan Walsh only $150 on the weekends for green fees. Well worth the trip!
I was -1 after the first four holes. I ended with a 103. Tbh not a bad round at all for me at
Nice 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
5 might be the toughest hole I've ever seen. Sure double dogleg par 4s are rare, but I can't think of another hole that dares you to carry as much of a hazard as humanly possible to set yourself up on the approach, which requires carrying and holding a long iron to a small green to avoid the bunkers and punishing rough around it. If there's a hole that showcases how much better the pros are compared to the average golfer it has to be this one.
5,10,11,12,15 are just short par 5s 🤪
You knew they were going to show the sign! Do you think JD will have a cooler in his golf cart?
I'm a bogey golfer and I think standing on 17 looking at the green I'd just write down 12 then move on to the last hole. Course looks amazing, though.
😂😂😂😂 I thought the same thing and Im a 9.9
I was physically and mentally fatigued after playing this monster.
Europe !! Europe !! Europe...!!
I wouldn't care if I shot 110, I'd still love to play it.
I go every year and I still shoot around 100 but somehow love it lol
Champions dont lay up on the 18th hole! I would, because I am not good enough to be close enough!!! Oh well, still enjoy playing the game. But what a Course, those bunkers are so intimidating!!!
I wish my country club was like this😭
It's a public course that feels exclusively private when you're on it. No exaggeration. Fairways are like glass - you're afraid to take a divot!
What drone was used for the making of this?
The first time I played there John Randle, Richard Dent & another gentleman tee’d it up in front of me. There is a sign on the first tee that states “ no mulligans!” Well each of those those guys hit 2 tee shots & one of them hit 3. So much for the no mulligan rule 🤣
Yeah it’s tough
This course looks like a nightmare to play...
You can ony walk it. No electric carts and probably the only course in america without cart paths. It adds to the difficulty for those used to carts. Roughs are actually deeper when there is no tournament. Less upkeep, no need to cut it regularly.
By the way, the "Red' is no picnic.
Red is spectacular. I play it a dozen times a year
@@iec7587 Yes, I love the Red course.
@@LazlosPlane I am quite happy with a bogey on one....lets move on
First time playing it on Weds and all I can say is wow, what a brutal track. Forget it if your driver isn't on, the rough is extreme and it wasn't even that long, as dense and heavy as I've ever played. You Thebrilliancecomparedthethat are difficult to see, can't tell you how many putts I just missed because of a unseen subtle break.theycouldn't.
My pitch landed between the greenside bunker and the green. Never found it. It’s probably still there.
Hardest last 4 holes in golf. No question.
18 disappoints me. Maybe the new fairway design will help but it's always been a short straight finishing hole. At 411 they can still hit iron off the tee and have a short iron in. The other 3 are brutal though indeed.
I like Koepka or DJ here
Rocky Felix I bet Koepka will win
I'm not a fan of how on most of the par 4 there is a period of rough for +50 yards before the green. This seems to me like a really artificial was of making the course tough. Basically it strikes me the MO for the course is 'let's make this really long and have zero bail out areas around the greens' which seems pretty unsophisticated to me. I caveat that I haven't played the course though!
Ben Hulme That’s Rees Jones for ya, didn’t used to be like that originally though. They should restore back to its original 1936 design.
Choose the correct club. Its as tough mentally as it is physically. Play it.
A 502 yard par 4 get outta here😂😂
No water? My type of course
But the Big Cat did at Augusta......(lay up on 18)......YMMV.
Yeah, you got a 2 or 3 shot lead and you'd BETTER lay up on 18, no matter what the course!
I'd be lucky to shoot under 200 here
😂
i birdied 7 but made a whole lot of bogeys. brutal
Black means business
Watch tiger layup on the 18th hole n eat the championship
I’m handicap 8, anyone around 8 that played there?
If you can break 88 as an 8, it’s a solid day on the Black.
I was a 12 and shot 88 and had a really good wedge day
What?, 500 yd par 4's?.
You don’t win at Bethpage Black, you just survive it.
I agree that anyone should at least see the course but if you're a beginner golfer just remember most people should be playing these holes at 4 - 9 minutes even as foursomes. I've seen so many Premier public courses get ruined because of rounds that are just over congested. if you live in New York get the golf permit makes the course a lot cheaper.
You’re playing 18 holes in 2.5 hours with three other people at the hardest course in the country?
Brodie smith brought me here.
These guys better be grateful this the PGA site and not the US open.
Exactly. US Open is no joke there !
We'll see how they set it up. Very curious about that. 10 under might win this one.
Hole 13. 608 yard par 5. Lol.
No thanks BLACK!
Yellow is my speed, and BLUE and RED are very challenging.
My greatest accomplishment in golf: I played this course and did NOT lose a ball!!! (Don't ask what I scored. Not important. Irrelevant. Who cares about scores?)
Still no carts allowed for the public . . . they take golfers off to hospitals all summer long . . . hope it stops raining for a great PGA tourny . . . enjoy !!!
I'm commenting on your article about woods 95 wins: it don't matter to us woods and golf fans he is the greatest of all time. Whether he has 15 or 16 or 17 or never gets to 18 majors, he's the greatest of all time. Whether he ties Snead 82 wins or never, he's the greatest of all time. Period.
Nicklaus has 18 major wins and 38 top 2 in the majors
until someone beats that hes the GOAT
@@dagobaker true. Yet, Woods broke all of Sneads records Age-wise reached all the milestones sooner than Snead did, some ages by more than 5 years.
I am giving woods the benefit of the doubt I know Mcilroy admitted he believed Woods to be the best of all time. I have a feeling most pros feel he's the best.
pete mama even Jack has said Tiger is the greatest. He knew Tiger would have reached 20+ majors easy without injury. For him to go thru what he has and add to his total is amazing. He will reach 90 wins and at least 16 majors IMO. That’s number one to me.
so what!
Way too long for a par 70! It's even too long for a par 72 most of these guys will be hitting hybrids into the par 4's!
That's the point of a US Open. They're not supposed to be easy!
The course is long but you only need to hit driver about 7 holes. The par fives and the really long par 4’s. Mid iron play will win this tournament and those who hit fairways.
That’s why Tiger will have a shot. He will put the ball in play and rely on iron play to win. As long as he makes putts he will be there. You can’t over power this course. Any mistake off the tee will be heavily penalized l.
@@cgasucks This is for the PGA
poor little darlings.
This course design is so aggressive. You must think before you hit your shot. Have you ever lose ball in a golf course to a point where you have only one ball to play. Do you know that feeling; “don’t make a stupid decision of losing the last ball”? I feel like this course will do the same to me.
Rees is not the guy who should be making changes. Please: get Doak on the phone
The wrong station isely decide because minister interestedly reflect since a piquant edge. cheerful, crowded regret
It's a ridiculous course to play at for the weekend amateur golfers.. does not reward good tee shots.. just giving them a chance to play the hole to avoid scoring a high number.. 😆
😂😂
good description
Typical yankee course....long af but the rough is barely penalizing
Way too long for a par 70! It's even too long for a par 72 most of these guys will be hitting hybrids into the par 4's!
