Loved your informative video review. I just subscribed to your channel. You are obviously an expert I am a beginner. I am an older woman who enjoys gaming although I have the skill set of a young child and appreciate your step by step information about how to use device and change screen size for different games. All useful information is highly appreciated. I took some notes and look forward to your future videos. I just ordered the Anbernic RG351V today and I’m very excited to play these games. Thanks so very much.
Hi Spin Retro 👍 I finally got my RG351V and made a video about it. I am enthusiastic and I especially like how good the device is in the hand. There is a real retro feeling especially as a gameboy classic fan ❤️👋
I generally don't recommend upgrading to one of these incremental updates. This is my third Anbernic device, although I've wanted every single one that got released. If you're happy with your RG351M, then I don't see many reasons to upgrade, unless you're dead set on using the 480p screen for PS1 and Dreamcast
@@ungratefulmango the screen is the only disappointment on the Rg351m. Other than that it’s perfect for me. I don’t know why they can’t get all of the features on one device. The 350 is too weak, the 351p/m have a crap screen and the new v is missing a joystick and 1 speaker....
@@KISEwun Most people don't notice the second speaker. Stereo is kinda pointless unless each speaker is spaced wider apart than your ears. And as for the second analogue stick, most people are playing games which only require 1 analogue stick. Almost all PlayStation games can be played without any sticks at all, so 1 analogue stick is more than adequate. The N64 only had 1 stick, as did the Dreamcast and the PSP. This chipset can't emulate anything above that, so the second stick is really only going to be used for ports, like SM64 or Quake.
@@ungratefulmango Yes, out of the 1600 roms I’ve put on it so far only Alien Resurrection on PS1 makes good use of the right analog. Which is why when ArkOS updates for use on the V, I’ll get it and play all my roms except Alien Resurrection on it.
Nice overview. I really like this system, just find it so frustrating that PSP and N64 performance is not that great. Had really hoped the RK3326 would mean could finally do away with my PSP. Sadly not
This is definitely the best CPS3 fighting game handheld! The fighting commands register well (SF3, SF2 sudden strike, final impact, marvel vs capcom, jojos play flawlessly) on this beautiful 640 x 480. This is a better choice than RG351P if you are mainly playing fighting games because the controls are great and the screen quality is superior!
play, Blood Omen: Legacy of KAIN for Playstation 1. I would really like to see if the load times are still there or is it any faster on this device . Thanks.
As we get some community support this isn't going to be an issue. RG351P had issues in the beginning but now its fine so let's wait for ArkOS support. Btw its not that hard to exit right now either. Just hit L3+R3(F) , B , up arrow , A in order.
thanks a lot for this well described video! I found that wood design very attractiv and I'm considering to buy it. I have the RG-350m and the RG-280m (because of the cool blue lilac design, hehe). how does this device compare to them? is it capable to do more? might be the PSP games? how about these partially graphic flow problems? are they solvable? thanks in advance for your answer and greetings from wolf
Life hack: If you are having trouble running an N64 or Dreamcast game then try using the PAL version of the game. Most PAL games run around 15% slower then the NTSC version, and the games programmers have taken this into account, so for instance a game that runs at 60fps in America will run at 50fps in PAL regions without completely breaking music, sound effects, and game physics.
This won't achieve anything other than making an already slow PAL game run even slower. They still require the same resources, which these handhelds continue to lack.
@@infernal_monkey How do you figure? It should require exactly the same same amount of resources to run the PAL version at 50fps as it does to run the NTSC version at 50fps - the only difference being that the PAL version is supposed to run at 50fps, so the sound doesn’t break.
@@PatrickThomasBrady From the device side of things the GPU is having to render 10 fewer frames per second - from the developer side of things they have sped up game logic by about 17% to compensate for the lower frame rate (assuming they have bothered to optimise their game properly for the region). I don't see how this could not help less capable devices in running games.
@@captainthunderbolt7541 Yea I understand all that and it makes sense logically, I just question whether it works in practice because I’ve seen others say the same thing and others question it but never seen some actual evidence or comparison showing it to be the case

it's a magnificent console but anbernic still does not understand that if it designed a slightly more powerful hardware, its consoles would be able to emulate very well even the games of the psp, dreamcast, nds and n64! it would be enough to put an hexacore processor for example, more powerful gpu and at least 2 gb of dd3 ram! so you would have the security of being able to play smoothly all the games of all consoles, also you should add an hdmi port and bluetooth for external controllers! obviously the price goes up a little but you have in your hands a spectacular and very complete console! I don't understand why the anbernic engineers don't do it! they continue to produce consoles all the same, with the same specifications, it doesn't take a genius to understand it! It makes me angry because they are basically excellent console with a lot of potential.
To be fair, other, higher-end emulation consoles do exist, and they're commensurately more expensive. It takes a lot of grunt to emulate post-PS1 consoles even by today's consumer electronics standards, and once you start asking prices that could buy a capable whole desktop PC, I think the value proposition of such a device starts to diminish. The high-end emulator handhelds on the market, like those from GPD, are clearly a niche product. If anything, I think Anbernic are filling a nice niche in the market by building a really nice, premium enclosure around hardware that is just capable enough to run truly 'retro' games at an affordable price.
