I just came across this video, when I first got my makro I notched out up to 15. I'm going to try this weekend with no notches and dig everything. Thanks for the video I appreciate a different perspective it's always good to try different settings. Thanks again!
I think it's good to go over a site several times with different settings each time. That's really how you get to know a particular detector and what to expect. It gets your brain and your detector working together instead of just a one time widescan shotgun approach.
Yes this is very true dig it all I don’t know how many times I started taking out the trash and found coins right by the trash never would of found them dig it all people!
I typically notch if I know I'm in a heavy junk area and go for high tones only. I collect coins more so then relics so depending what site I'm hunting depends on what I want notched out. Wide open on sand volleyball courts, beaches and some parks in my area. Enjoy you're video. Should have my simplex next week.
I notch out 0-5 as I have never dug anything in that range that was worth digging (and boy, I've dug a lot of holes😖) but it quietens tha machine a bit. Anyone who's dug anything to the contrary please let me know.
Hey man, thanks so much for the channel! Very informative. Have you ever considered (maybe you've already done it) putting a VDI chart on a video? I know there are tons of variables, but is there like, a base level set of numbers you're starting from?
Hi a question please So use park mode 1 or 2 and HOT I take it you meen full sensitivity with no notching or discrimination? Do they both mean the same thing? And also do you manually ground balance eveytime yourself? Or use the 90? Thankyou
Hot is exactly as you describe. Full gain no disc. I ground balance if the ground is wet. Ground balance not usually necessary on the Simplex unless you have mineralized ground.
I have only used all metal couple of times You should try all metal if you have a Simplex and if you can figure it out please please let me know how it works. The best metal detector I have used in all metal mode is the Equinox 800 by far. The Nox is frickn awesome in all metal.I run my Simplex "HOT" which is gain all the way up with no discrimination. All metal mode on the Simplex is just about useless!! The threshold is way messed up.
One thing that really bugs me about my Simplex is that when I use my Nokta pinpointer it makes the Simplex go crazy. More annoying than subversive, really. It doesn't seem to affect the pinpointer much, but who wants to hear a loud steady warbling squawk while digging?? :-/
I started metal detecting in 1970 and like you said if you notch out anything, you are going to bypass good items.

Trying new stuff always brings surprises. Good luck Jarett!!

This is seriously helpful . Jody got my machine and I love it already !
Fantastic!
Good advice. I've been disc. out foil and everything below it. I will stop doing that.
Dude my Simplex like silver like crazy, and you are right about discrimination !!!
Simplex is awesome on Silver
I lii l know I called you a speedy jack in the box in another vid, but
I am finding your advice and observations invaluable. Thanks for sharing.
Cool, thanks!!

I will dig anything that sounds good; even 08. You would be surprised at what some jewelry rings up at.
@@PaystreakSuperfreak absolutely I dig on sound more than numbers.
The good stuff if laying with the trash facts!
Hi. I need your help. Shall I dig 04 iron ? Perhaps some good relics are made of iron and maybe I’m missing those ? Thank you again.
With the simplex, just turn it on, park mode, adjust sensitivity, done!
Simple!!!
Which park mode do you use I use park mode #2 ground balance and go
Use 1, 2 doesn’t go deep at all

Great advice
Can this machine be used in salt water and rivers cool advice ma man 👍
Not so good in saltwater but it does great in the freshwater rivers.
@@PaystreakSuperfreak like your videos on this machine just purchased one I live in Scotland near the sea so got plenty of beeches to target 👍
why not just run a pi ? if you dont disc or notch.
Hi Jeremy, is your camera in wide or superwide?
I keep my gopro hero 7 black in linear.
👍
DIG BABY DIG!
When you say you have it wide open... Does that mean you're running it in all metal mode?

You can mute it if you are using the latest software version . Just tap the pin point button . I’m using 2.78
@@jell-oputin8036 Thanks! I didn't think of that.
There’s a guy in my club who notches out junk on his Deus......I tried telling him this but he wouldn’t listen.
Some people just like the coins. More gold for us the eh!!
Title should be..."DON'T DO this to get more...etc.
I just discriminate the first notch..0 to 5
I notch nothing and I think your title doesn't match the video content. Doesn't help too much either
You repeat yourself way tooooooo much.
Repetition promotes learning!!
