Sinister Motives for me! Love the variety of easy to difficult villains and the scenarios feel most thematic to me. NeXt Evolution is totally underrated and I find myself going back to Juggernaut ALOT. Cable is one of my favorite heroes too :) great video and great list!
I didn’t realize anyone liked Next Evolution 😂. D20 put it as his second least favorite (after Galaxy), and that’s where I place it, so I just assumed everyone didn’t like it 😅. I love the rest of that wave. One of my favorite waves overall. But the actual campaign box just had too many bad villains for me. And waaaayyy too much Hope Summers 😢. If I’m being honest, if Hope hadn’t been mandatory in Juggernaut and Sinister, I’d probably put this box in 3rd place.
@@mitch-TO haha that’s fair. Stryfe is my least favorite capstone villain, but i always find myself going to Juggernaut and Mister Sinister. I’ve never played the campaign but can definitely see the annoyance of having Hope around which makes the scenario easier and turns of things like Mighty Avengers.
@@NelsonAllOverCards I was going to post the same thing. Been watching your channel for all my MC news for 2 years now and when I pulled this video up it really struck me how much weight you have lost! Good job man, you look great!
Next Evolution is also my favorite. The introduction of side schemes, heroes, and new archtype helps it. I also love playing against the Morlock. I know some people who says they are weak but many have lost On the Run scenario and refuse to acknowledge they can be challenging. Stryfe and Morlock Siege (solo) are the only miss. I play a lot of campaign, they have the easiest to run because they play around your deck like Mojo Mania.
Oh, Campaign boxes only? 7. GMW - Deft Focus and Hard to Ignore, and that’s it. 6. Next Evolution - Slightly better campaign, player side schemes. 5. Age of Apocalypse- Iffy campaign but I really like Illyana and Bishop. 4. Sinister Motives - I don’t love Web Warriors, but the campaign is fun on the bun. 3. Mad Titan - love Adam Warlock, always have him built. The campaign is fine. 2. Red Skull - Campaign with decent variety of stuff. It was my first campaign, so that will always be in my heart. 1. Mutant Genesis - After Sabertooth, the campaign is a blast. Both heroes are personal favorites, very challenging for me personally. I always have both built. A++
Yeah, GMW gave me PTSD… it gave also my most precious achievement: beating Ronan in 3 rounds, rushing him with Aggression Star Lord and Protection Drax… Drax couldn’t make it alive 😢
I think the Best box in the game by far is Sinister Motives. If you're really into Web Warriors, all you need is this box, plus SP//dr and Spider-Ham and you've got the complete web warrior kit. If you're into Champions, all you need is Sinister motives, Ms. Marvel, Ironheart, and Nova and you've got the complete Champions suite. You're into shield, (at least until February) all you need Sinster motives, Black widow and war machine.
Another great episode. Next Evolution is fantastic and would be my #1, but I think I have a soft spot for RORS (based on the villains included and their simplicity in tabling and playing) and would likely have it around #4 behind #3MG and #2 SM.
I've only bought a few campaign boxes so I have RORS, SM and MG. I can't decide whether SM or MG is my favorite! But Champions is my favorite Marvel comic so my secret wish is that some day they will make a campaign all about the Champions.
I have seen a lot of expansion ranking videos, so it's notable to say they almost all have the same results; Galaxy's Most Wanted on the bottom (whether it's because it's too complex or boring or whatever), the X-Men boxes at the top, and usually Sinister Motives ranking highest among the non-X-Men boxes while Rise of Red Skull is usually given a "great for new players" bonus. Makes me feel validated as an X-Men fan who has absolutely no interested in the GOTG (to the point where Agent Venom being tagged as a Guardian despite very clearly visually being from way before that happened REALLY annoys me because his only keyword synergy is with a faction I don't want to play).
I think my list would be: 1) Age of Apocalypse 2) Sinister Motives 3) Mutant Genesis 4) Next Evolution 5) Rise of Red Skull 6) Mad Titan's Shadow 7) Galaxies Most Wanted Magik is in my top 3 favourite heroes in the game along with Psylocke and Gamora, which is why I like the Age of Apocalypse box so much. I also really enjoy both Apocalypse scenarios, Unus, and Dark Beast a lot in both solo and multiplayer. The upcoming Shield box villains look crazy good though.
I like AOA best due to liking all the scenarios and both the heroes, especially Bishop. That is probably followed by SM, RORS, NE, MG, MTS, GMW. Middle 3 are really close. MTS over GMW as I love Hela but they are both thin on likes. I give no weight to the campaigns as I have given up playing them, AoA does seem to be the most dreadful in a tough field. I also realised I give no weight to the player cards as I have no idea what is in which box! That would obviously be useful in a buying guide...
I still consider myself a a newbie because I don't get to play as much as I want to. I got my expansions based pn the the vilians I wanted. And being old school I picked up old schooll Avengers Thor, Hulk, Captain America Ant Man. Being an Ironman fan I would have loved to gotten The Manderin. Of couse he was in the beginning of Ironman and it was in Vietnam, So he might not sell. What would be interesing if they came out with and expansion with a collection of say 4 villians that were the first ememies of the heros. They already have Red Skull, Loki, Green Goblen. Are they comming out with a Fantastic 4 & Dr Doom? That would be cool if you coud choose how you played the four as a team deck or indiviidually Characters.
I think originally I had next evolution a lot lower since I thought it's apart of the X-men related wave and while player side schemes are there, you lose our on some good allies like professor X and Wolverine, but in most of my decks with both cable and domino, I hardly play any mutants. My Justice cable has mostly core set cards in it related to thwarting and my leadership domino just plays good cards from everything. So I think from a newcomers perspective, I would say next evolution is also probably a good thing to get as well. Plus, they get access to hope summers, which arguably gives the game an easy mode, which I think is worth noting which can help new players out more when going towards like galaxys most wanted.
Pretty similar to yours. I also love next evolution. Great heroes, great campaign mechanic, and mostly good villains. I put mad titans shadow higher but mainly because the villains are so good. I’m running age of apocalypse right now and I considered just quitting because the mission mechanic is just boring (the heroes are great though) honestly 1 to 5 are pretty similar to me. So, long story short… 7 galaxys most wanted 6 age of apocalypse 5 red skull 4 mad titans 3 sinister motives 2 mutant genesis 1 next evolution 5
For me I’d put sinister motives at the bottom and Galaxy’s Most wanted right above it. Expert Galaxy is harder but I hate the Reputation track. Like why would villains scale off of Hero’s’ success? Also not a fan of Sandman or Mysterio’s mechanics.
I have always thought of it thematically as the heroes are becoming more well known and then villains perceive the them as more of a threat and therefore dedicate more resources to try and stop them! Kinda like in a DnD campaign why the big bad evil guy doesnt just come and smite the level one characters in session one - they just dont see them as a threat and are spending time else where doing big bad evil stuff!
Thank you for the list. Will pick up Next Evolution. FFG needs to come out with standard cards for the X Men. Tired of using the seven from the core box after all these years
So I'd agree with you on GMW and MTS, but that is probably where everything falls apart for me. I would probably have AOA in the 5th place, but it could be swapped with NE which for me (both boxes) the characters make the boxes, though I do like Unus a lot. I'd probably then pick SM for 3rd as I really liked the campaign. ROTRS would probably be my 2nd as Hawkeye is my favorite marvel character but I see myself playing the villains more in this box that most of the others I've listed, and Last would-be MG. Like a lot of other people, I have gotten tired of the Mutant wave, but MG is just so great. I am constantly playing the Villains.
The best one is definitely the fantastic four one... which doesn't exist, and has not been announced yet, but I'm still sure that it's gonna be the best :-D you read it here first!
Sinister Motives is my favorite. I love the heroes and the campaign mechanic is cool. It gives an incentive to push one's luck in order to get to the bottom of the track and get all the perks. My least favorite is the Galaxy's Most Wanted, mostly because of the villains. I agree with you that the campaign mechanic where you buy cards with XP is cool and I hope it returns some day. From the campaign gimmicks, GMT and Sinister Motives have the best ones. My second favorite is Mutant Genesis. I like the campaign mechanic and the villains are all good. I haven't tried out the heroes yet. And my third is Age of Apocalypse, mostly because of the villains. My campaign group didn't really care for the campaign mechanic although the side area was the perfect place for Captain Britain. 3 thwart and 3 attack with for 5 effective resources was quite good. :)
@NelsonAllOverCards I started Champions the day GMW came out, and I bought everything from the beginning to that box. I enjoyed the challenge, the theme, and that cycle of heroes. With MTS, I didn't enjoy most of the villains or the heroes or that cycle as a whole.
Do we think this is just an X-Man game now? Outside of preference is there a major reason to not just play some form of mutants? They have more support than Avengers and so much is trait locked.
Everyone can have a different opinion on what the best campaign is. But there were never a consensus in history, like the consensus regarding Galaxy most wanted being the worst
Sinister motives is by far my favorite, first it has 2 of my top 4 all time favorite heroes. Secondly it was my first box so nostalgia lol, then lastly I think the villains are very replay able
I've been waiting for this video for a while, this is great! I am now planning to get the Mutant Genesis very soon; excited to see how it helps out the upcoming Magneto hero pack.
Pretty new to the game, but just finished the Next Evolution campaign with my son yesterday, he was playing Venom-J, I was playing Cable-J, total blast. Red Skull campaign was also fun! We'll probably tackle the Mutant Genesis campaign with new heroes next. Great video!
We have similar minds on this one. I can't decide on the last 2 either. SPOILER: MG released with 2 other heroes at the same time, which just really gave the feel of "The X-men" are here. Magneto, Project Wideawake are my favorite villains. Next Evolution has PSS and 2 of my favorite heroes, and On The Run, Mister Sinister. I think I give MG the slight edge because of Magneto. But...Build Support...Arrrrrgh!
Hi Nelson. My list would be: 1. Mutant Genesis 2. Mad Titan Shadow 3. Sinister Motives 4. Next Evolution 5. Rise of Red Skull 6. Galaxy's Most Wanted I still don't have Age of Apocalypse.
