Thank you very much, and I sure hope so! I will say this: I saw that review, and I was slightly dismayed that it might do a bit of damage to the growth of the community, but I also didn't disagree with any particular point that Quinns made. It's certainly not a perfect game, and in true solo, you can definitely luck into a quick and unfair-feeling loss, or even a win on Round 3. But resetting is fast, so no real harm done there. Quinns also doesn't like Marvel stuff. I do. I made fun of FOMO in the video, but the collecting is definitely an aspect of it. Not to say that there's not re-playability in the core box, but I like getting the new characters and seeing the different ways they play. That's, like, an active part of my enjoyment of the game. But that can also get expensive. And, of course, the easiest comparison is Arkham Horror the Card Game, which tells an intricate story as your character gets stronger and weaker and decisions you make pay off over the course of several game plays. Marvel doesn't do that. There's a pretty lackluster campaign in the big box expansions, but I mostly play randomly, or whoever feels interesting that night. Great content. Recently recieved as a gift and I have a question: during the villain boost phase and the hero defends against that boosted attack, and is still defending during the villain encointer phase (because its still exhausted) is that hero still defending when the hero phase begins afterwards?
Thank you! Welcome to the game! The defense is just in the moment of the attack. So, the villain attacks and is boosted, you defend (either with a defense event or exhausting to use your basic defense), and then there’s a player window in which you can play cards that have defend reactions (Counter-punch, as an example). But then that’s it. You’re not still defending during the encounter card step. You do remain exhausted if you used your basic, and you’ll stay exhausted until the next upkeep step, or play a card that allows you to ready.

Well, welcome to the game! There’s a rule book and a learn to play manual. I’d at least look through the learn to play one. The rules one is for looking up how specific rules work, but isn’t meant to really just be read. Maybe fills the set up in the video, but have to Learn to Play open so you can follow along there, too.
I mistakenly played this for a long time thinking you reset your exhausted cards after both yours and the villains turns, meaning you could defend and attack in the same round. I learned I was doing it wrong, but now the game seems incredibly difficult when defending is such a burden.
Using allies to take damage for you is a big part of it. And, I know there’s a few cards that can lose it for you in one bad Encounter draw, but sometimes you just have to take a few hits and plan on flipping to Alter-ego to recover every now and then. Remember, too, you don’t have to exhaust to play most of your events, so you should hopefully still have options outside of your basic attack and thwart. Good luck!
FOMO? I resisted buying the two heroes I don't have yet (Valkyrie and Vision) today when I ordered some other games! I'll get them eventually, I've realized that I need to play the game more and not just buy everything. I only have everything else, and I have played the game about half a dozen times (only Core heroes against Rhino) since release. I'll get to the rest any day now!
FOMO - the Fear Of Missing Out; that "gotta get them all!" mentality. Something I guess you don't have a problem with, if you resisted! I'm a bit meh on Valkyrie so far, but Vision is pretty fun!
Yeah, they’re a bit older. I would keep an eye out, though. As far as I can tell, the game sells well, so I imagine there will be reprints. Also, I’d check Barnes and Nobles. The one near me will randomly have a bunch of packs, and usually at a discount.
My biggest confusion with this game comes from the boost counters. I can never understand anything about the villain turn because of them. Like when a minion is played as an encounter, the game rules pretty much state that whatever their scheme or attack value is for the minion is added into the attack from the villain and then state that the boosts in the corner card are what’s added to the attack. Every tutorial I watch just breezes past that aspect and I just can’t wrap my head around it. Someone explain or correct any confusion I have or am misreading.
When the villain activates, either an attack or scheme, it gets a boost card (some, like Klaw, may get more than one). Flip that card and add the number of boost icons (which are the ones with 3 points) to the value of that attack or scheme, and discard that card. Doesn't matter if it's a minion or a side scheme or whatever, because you're only looking in the corner. However, if that boost card has a boost ability (a star), you'll do whatever it says on the card next to the star under the line on the card. Then, separate from the boost, you'll draw an encounter card and either resolve it or put into play. Does that help?
You add one threat to the main scheme at the beginning of the Villain Phase, then add one more for each acceleration token or icon on any side schemes. In the video, I say that’s one per acceleration, per player-but that’s wrong. It’s just one additional threat for each acceleration.
Was lost 5 minutes in but this looks interesting?! Love single player card games. The wife is tired of playing World of Warcraft TCG and I've been wanting to find something to scratch that itch. I have one deck dungeon, would you recommend a good easy card game to get into solo?
I love playing this one solo and it also plays great with more. I don’t know if it’s the EASIEST game to get into… there’s a lot of content. I’d maybe suggest getting the core box and see if you like it before you dove into spending a bunch of money on it. Especially if you like the theme!
Great video! One correction - acceleration tokens are not per player. They only add 1 additional threat per token.
Great catch! I don't think I can edit this at this point, but I made a note! Thanks!

Are the hit points on cards max hp or can you heal over the value?
Nope, that’s the max; though, there are ways to increase your HP, like Iron Man’s Rocket Boots.
Can you explain the acceleration token again? If I'm playing solo with just spider-man, how many tokens would I add to 1B?
You add one threat to the main scheme at the beginning of the Villain Phase, then add one more for each acceleration token or icon on any side schemes.
In the video, I say that’s one per acceleration, per player-but that’s wrong. It’s just one additional threat for each acceleration.

God you’re gorgeous
Thanks, Dad.
