Are you considering homeschooling your children? Have you started looking at what curriculum to use and you are overwhelmed? Well I hope that these four areas, tips, questions to ask yourself will help you narrow down your selections and help you in your search. Please know that what you and your children need is right inside of you. Trust me when I say, if I can do this, you can do this! As parents we are equipped with the tools we need to teach our kiddos! Im here to encourage you in this homeschool journey.
4 Questions to ask yourself when choosing through all the tons of curriculum that are out there!!
number 1: Do you want a faith based curriculum, or a secular curriculum? this question right there alone will narrow your choices down by about half.
number 2: How many kids are you teaching? Do you have the time to teach every subject separately to each child? Or would you like to teach the corse subjects across all ages and levels at once? Then break up into independent and one on one as needed.
number 3: What are your homeschool goals? Homeschooling long term, short term, college bound?
number 4: THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION TO ASK YOURSELF! Is what you're teaching or considering to teach fun? If you're not enjoying it, the kids won't. if they aren't enjoying it, they wont learn and retain as much.

I start with the Cathy Duffy reviews. I like how she summarizes the curriculums and rates them with lots of detail and wisdom.
My 3rd grader is very hands on and visual so things have to be out in front of him (pictures, games, manipulatives etc).
I read tons of reviews and I'm really adamant about wanting to stick with a curriculum all the way through his schooling (don't get me wrong here, if it's not working for us we let it go) I don't just look at the year we're going into but I look at all years of a curriculum so I can see how it develops. My mom changed curriculums constantly (I was homeschooled) and I had trouble with all the flip flopping.
