Greg Green yes I'd say those are not worth getting a PS4 for. This is really just my opinion though don't flip a tit. I'm just being nostalgic. For me there's just not anything on PS4 I wouldn't rather play on PC with free online play and better frames (my PC isn't even that great really. Only have a 1050ti). None of the exclusives this gen excite me at all except for Horizon zero Dawn and I'm sick as hell of giant open world map games so I haven't really felt compelled to pick that up yet. Maybe soon. Nobody is a baby for playing a console though that's just stupid elitist talk.
Emulation is reproducing the function of a console on another device in order to play games that were exclusive to that console. Pretty much allows you to play console games on PC or android. Pretty nifty if you want to play older games but trust me, nobody is playing ps4 or any other current (or even last generation) on an emulator and getting a smooth experience.
I wish everyone goes back to playing on ps3 again. Ps3 rules. I bought my ps4 and gave it to my cousin cuz i didnt like it. This was ages ago btw. Aaaand he broke recently
My original launch 60gb PS3 was stolen. Around 2011 I got a 40gb PS3 and it lasted me from then until just about two weeks ago. I got the yellow light. I did stop using it from about 2013-2017. But within the last couple months is when I really really used it. I would forget to turn it off when I fell asleep and it would usually run for a couple hours and turn itself off. I wish it hadn’t died.
While im just sitting here being that one person who is yet to upgrade to ps4 and still uses their ps3 normally as if it were the year 2008 and not 2018
Future Warz i dont have an account Plus my ps3 is never available cuz my brother uses it as a blu ray player and sd card player so i never get to use it
Keep it running in an open cool area. That will help it last a lot longer. I have mine elevated on a stand and has room away from the wall. I only use it for gaming as well. But this setup keeps it cool and it only gets a little warm even after a few hours of use
Another thing is Sony originally used 19 bladed fans for the heatsink in the CECHA models but my CECHE model which is the last model made with limited backwards compatibility came with a 17 or 15 bladed fan. Replacing the 15 bladed fan with the 19 bladed one will not only increase airflow but can move more air than the others at lower RPMs making the console quieter.
My ps3 has been used since it was made . My stepdad got it but then he gave it to me as he switched to PC gaming and now I use it as my main console.many years of good use.many controllers broken. (Ps: I have an original model bough in Poland.)
i have a 40 gig fat model, first with all physical hardware for ps2 removed, mine got a partial yellow light of death issue, soley cause the intakes were jammed with dust and it got hot inside for a long time, so mine will not turn on right away sometimes, after cleaning all the dust bunnies, it turns on slightly better, but still not first try, but once on functions normally.
I would just remove it from the case and either build a custom case for it or put it into a PC case and add a PC heat sinks/fans to the CPU and GPU to keep them cool. Solder up the power buttons and connect few other inputs/outputs and your console should last for years.
That's a hassle, Better to just put it in a box and conserve it, The Old Launch Models are mainly good for BC, So they should be saved just for collecting purposes, Mostly all the things a BC compat model can do a regular model can do, Plus PS3Xploit is a thing, So if you have a compatible model, You're Set, Though it isn't for everyone.
it's now 2018 I still have my FAT 80Gb PS3 with a 500gb drive in it, and also another FAT original model that plays PS2 games and has the extra ports and mem card reader. All still work perfectly fine since day 1. Actually the model that plays PS2 games I got for £60 with extras from a guy who had only used it a few times and it had been sitting in a box in his cupboard for years. I didn't know it was the orginal model until I bought it.... bargain. And it's still hardly been used as I use the other one mostly.
My PS3 used to power on perfectly, but (this was before I got my PS4) when I would play COD Advanced Warfare, And It would automatically power of after I was done, when I would turn it on it would show the green light, fade to yellow, then fade to a blinking red and start beeping. It wouldn’t work and I tried many things, unplugging and replugging, turning the power switch off and on, and nothing worked. It turns out that right after I hit the power button, I need to eject the disk. It wouldn’t turn on with a disk inside it. I’ve never had this problem with a Wii, my friends PS2, or before then.
2018 now I bought mine again back from my uncle back In 2016 and he had he's sence launch day never got a yellow light of death the silver bar unit still play every now and then.
I bought a used 60gb ps3 manufactured in feb 2007 and it has the better cooling 19 blade fan rather than the flawed 15 blade fan launch ps3 has and it is still working today
There really isn't solid proof that 15 bladed fans in the early fat PS3s are flawed. Having tested both fan types in the same PS3, both pretty much behaved exactly the same, temperatures were also virtually the same. I have another fat PS3 that's never been opened and it has the 15 blade fan, runs quietly when playing PS2 games (which surprisingly works the PS3 hard and will heat up the chips) and still works to this day as well.
My fat PS3 got the yellow light of death 5 or 6 years ago. I got the PS3 Slim a few years ago and it still works fine. Plays Call Of Duty and every other game fine.
I have, ps3 and ps4 pro, i use both with same controller, p4 controller, works certainly! Because, with ps4 controller can control ps3 also, need only USB wire.
I have a 60GB ps3 I have it on for not even 5 mins and the fan kicks on full speed 😭just got it so I really don’t know what to replace and such. I know the thermal and copper plates or whatever but I just want want this thing to last a long time. It works fine right now just wanna be ahead of the game.
I sent my 60gb ps3 to ps3specialist and it worked for 5 months. Sent it back for warranty repair and it took him over 3 months to return it with a fight. The second fix also lasted 5 months.
That's why if you have a 60gb ps3 you always need the intercooler from day one. I had mine from 07-14 with no issues. But I also did regular maintenance as far as cleaning. Ended up selling it for $300 with everything. I now regret it.
halo3odst also its the lead free solder that they use is brittle and the main board is too thin and warps ad in the issue you mentioned and its amazing any are still working.
no because the fan is set to low and tha thermal compound is shitty but if they at least put the fan higher( for 99% of ppl too fuckin loud) if would last and would have no issues, tha A,B,C and generall PHAT models have good components in there, imagine like in a pc when u run a big game and have the fans set so low like 10% like on tha ps3 and then it runs at 80° itz not a wunder it dosent last :P
Don't use a washcloth to clean the processor. You can get lint or threads from the cloth in the system. Use a coffee filter. That's what I use to clean the thermal paste from my PC CPU.
Solder balls isn't actually the issue. Solder balls starts melt around 200 celsius. Issue is in RSX gpu chip itself. Reballing is bullshit, because what gets "fixed" is chip itself in reball process, because it gets heat and that tells why most of the time it fails after reball. There's nothing to do with solder balls. Best fix if your PS3 got YLOD - use hair drier to heat RSX chip about 10-15 min. Change on and under RSX headspreader thermal paste and on CELL heatspreader also, but no need to change under it, because it doesn't get so hot in games, like RSX does and it doesn't cause YLOD anyway. When PS3 comes alive after that, install CFW as quick as possible, using PS3Xploit method (you can place PS3 to somewhere colder place, fridge for example to avoid YLOD at this process). When CFW installed, install "sman" plugin. It won't allow your GPU & CPU go over 70 celsius or depends what value you enter in settings. Reason why PS3 FAT gets YLOD is because of sony's latest shitty firmwares, that kicks fan in after 80-90 celsius and with this thermal policy PS3 working ~100 celsius. Also they are 10+ years old and any thermal paste won't last that long. Also dust... Mine 60GB still working like new and it's super silent! In games like GTAV or GT6 it gets ~68 celsius for cpu & gpu with 28% fan speed. Used arctic mx4 thermal paste. Hope it helps!
BalticMotorSport got mines to run low fan setting at 30% cecha01 I was surprised that can run pretty cool at that speed, max temp set at 69c but they only hang around 65c for cell, rsx varies game to game but always low 60s for tomb raider for example and 2d fighters low 50s. Really tho 1st model ps3 weren't badly made, component and shape design wise were good just bad stock thermal paste and fan settings.
I’m basically 100% certain the PS3 failure rate would’ve been a lot lower if they had used a better quality thermal compound, everyone’s PS3s broke because Sonya wanted to save a few cents on every console
When my first 60gb broke (fell to the floor) i bought the slim which had just gotten released. And a couple years ago I bought another 60gb for 150 euros, because I missed the ps2 compatability, but I want to fix the old onw because it was still the old firmware before the slim era. But is it worth it?
Haha, are you sure? I sent it to a shop who were supposed to fix it but apparently the processors need replacing because they've been damaged by the heat, since they did not have these in stock they sent it back to me and charged me 50 euros plus the 50 euros it cost to ship it back and forth, and it's been sitting in its box since. I live in Sweden aswell so that's quite an obstacle..
The biggest problem is that the fat is made to be sitting up not flat if you notice there is vents on one side and the it sits on the side where the hard drive is if you stand it up the heat on the bottom can cool and it will help the paste on the CPU when it is flat the Bottom gets really hot check that out you'll notice how much cooler it runs I have the piano black launch addition the one with out the PS3 logo on top and haven't had any issues at all using this method and all I might do is open it and blow out the dust with a can of air every 2 months or so
My 40 Gb ver still works since i got it back in 2009. The only things i did to it was upgrading the HDD to 500 GB and changing disk reader because it failed on me in 2012
Everyone says that you need to take the console apart and replace thermal paste in these older PS3s, but there's a problem: I have NO CLUE how to fully take apart a videogame console and fully put it back together without messing it up. I mean, I recently got a backwards compatible CECHE01 model a few months ago, and it runs really good, only problem is, the fan gets a little loud at times. It only seems to get loud when I'm playing newer PS3 games. When playing Gran Turismo 6, it causes my PS3 to shut off as if it overheats like it's too much for it to handle. Other than that, it runs fine, I keep it in an area of open air where it can fully breathe
@@pocketreviewgaming as an update, that PS3 did get YLOD on me. I took it apart and replaced the thermal paste, but it didn't work. I got a slim now instead
Hi I've issue with my old PS3 it is in some games just shuts down for some reason sometimes like less than a minute after I turn it on. any idea what causing it ?
My CECHB-01 Fat 20GB (upgraded to 500GB) original fat PS3 still works today, but I'm use it mostly for playing PS2 games, because hooking PS2 on HDTV (even with component cable) still looks bad since PS2 wasn't designed for HDTV.
didn't really care about wifi since that PS3 mostly use for playing PS2, while i have another PS3 (Slim version CECH 2501A) for playing regular PS3 games.
I had a launch ps3 and it got the yellow light of death and I cried for so long and I was about 7 or 8 years old and I'm 13 now and I still remember it
I don't recommend arctic silver 5, instead I recommend you use acrtic cooling mx4, it is way better than arctic silver 5 because it's liquid already, and the quality is better.
You gave some poor advice with that hair dryer bit. All you'll accomplish is melting some of the plastic case. And without rosin, a heatgun reflow will do more harm than good without the ability to preheat the opposite side of the board. If you want to actually fix these sorts of issues that you've outlined, dm me and I'd be happy to help you restore your consoles.
Tony Dunn I’ve reflowed 3 ps3s using the same tactic and they’ve been going strong for two years. Again you should only risk the hair dryer Tactic when you just wanna pull data from the hard drive.
ProjectNova0 I perform component level diagnosis and repair as an IPC certified professional for a multi billion dollar communications company, and I do console repairs for friends as a favor. You seem passionate about what you do, and I hate to knock your methods, but a hair dryer doesnt even get close to the 750+ degrees required to melt lead free solder. What you're actually doing is inducing heat stress that causes an uneven expansion of the pcb around the bga pads that the cell bbp is fixed to. This may momentarily provide continuity between the malformed solder ball and the bga pad, which explains how you can use this for a short time to recover data. All in all, it is better to add rosin flux (non-conductive) underneath the bga chip (either the rsx or cell bbp) and heat a wide area of the pcb around the chip with a large heat gun (one that looks like a hair dryer, but gets to 800-1000 degrees F), and after 3-5 min focus the heat close on the chip you're trying to reflow for 15-30 sec BUT NO MORE THAN THAT TIME SPAN OR YOU'LL CAUSE PERMENANT DAMAGE. That was a crash course on how to do a reflow on any bga chip that size. Be careful of the air speed of the heat gun, as too much air flow can blow smaller components from their location on the pcb.
You lost me at Arctic silver 5.. I highly recommend not to use this as it is conductive and it has a curing point before it works at its full performance. try using active m x - 4, works better than Arctic Silver 5 and works at full performance as soon as you apply it. this is not the best thermal compound in the world but is high-end for a PS3.
Your statement about not to use your PS3 normally is a bit misleading. Not all 60 GB PS3s need their thermal paste changed, though of course many of them do. If the PS3 is still sealed with the warranty sticker, and the fans run quietly when playing an intense game such as GTA 5, you should be ok with the stock thermal paste. I confirmed this on my CECHA01 (never opened) using webman. Running GTA 5 for a few hours with syscon i.e. the default fan controller, the CPU was at 73 C and GPU was at 76 C with the fans running at 30%. Not too bad. Using webman, the fans cranked up a bit keeps the chips below 70 C which is well within tolerance. Sure new thermal paste should improve the temps, but it's not always necessary.
fred30w No you should replace your compound. Ask any PC technician and they’ll tell you the same thing, after years of use especially since the ps3 is 12 years old come November the paste is mostly solid and needs replacing to insure proper head dissipation.
The fact the console is soon to be 12 years old doesn't give a complete picture. If the PS3 was only lightly used over the course of its life and stored properly, the chances of the thermal paste needed to be changed is lesser than a console that's clocked thousands of hours while being played on a tight shelf with little to no air space. Think of reballed or reflowed consoles. They are more likely to need their IHS' removed because the intense heat from the reflow / reball process has dried the thermal paste under them. I'm not completely disagreeing that older PS3s should have their thermal paste changed, but it isn't always a necessity right off the bat, especially if you confirm that the temps are within reason.
It's basically an all-in-one tool for jailbroken (softmodded) PS3s that lets you do things like load up ISOs for some games, use your PS3 as an FTP server for transferring files, etc. It just so happens a very useful tool built into webman is to monitor temperatures of the CPU and GPU, even while in game. If you're so inclined, it'll let you override the syscon control (aka what unmodded PS3s use) and adjust the fan speed to your personal liking. It's great to verify that the PS3 isn't running too hot, especially if you haven't opened it up yet.
They seem to be really cheap when working. I went to a carboot sale (flee market ) and a guy had a few. I chose a slim one. In hinesight a large one would have been better due to being backwards compatible, but i would of missed out since there was a GTAIV disc in it when I got it home. I spent £10 ($15) on it. It had no cables etc. I found a set of cables with a broken one on another stall for £10 but I offered £5 so I got a bargain.
Dude I've had the 80gb the one that came with the game motor storm remember that game anyways I've had that console since 2007 still works no issue I just don't get how people have theses issues all the time.
Kirks2010 PSN no it came out late 2007 I remember I bought it look it up the bundle that came with motor storm 80gb backwards compatible 4 USB card reader same as the 60gb
Ryan Scherbluk no the b/c models are 20GB, 40GB and 60GB. I got the same 80GB Bundle as you with motorstorm and mine is non b/c, grey plastic face trim
Misinformation reball is not a fix the ps3 didn't have problems it was the apu/gpu the chip is bad it has to be replaced by reballing or heating is just forcing it to work for a while after a while it won't even work
I asked how much I can get for the 60gb system that has the OG box, controller, all the instructions and flyers, and wires, and my game stop told me that I'll get a measley 40 bucks, regardless of it having everything. Cheap Bastards.
I have a slim now, but when I first had ylod on my fat, I took it apart, and put in in a box. then blasted with hairdryer for 15mins. It lasted 3 months, and I was able to get my data. when it happened again, I opened it, stuck it on 4 foil and, (honestly) cooked it at 190º for 8 minutes... lasted a year and a half after that. The third time, I forgot that it was in the oven! heard all the components falling off😂
what to do? Throw your ps4 out the window and enjoy that game collection thats about 1000 times better than current gen consoles
This gen is shit it's nothing but remasters.
Greg Green yes I'd say those are not worth getting a PS4 for. This is really just my opinion though don't flip a tit. I'm just being nostalgic. GV you are stupid, kingdom hearts isn't on there
Greg Green You can for around 480-500 euro. Emulations pretty neat!
I still have my old fat ps3 and it still works perfectly.
me too and its better than the ps4.
Cristy Chumney so true.
Cristy Chumney I have a PS4 pro and I like my 60gb PS3 more. I can play all the PS2 games I did when I was young. and they look so good.
I wish everyone goes back to playing on ps3 again. Ps3 rules. I bought my ps4 and gave it to my cousin cuz i didnt like it. This was ages ago btw. Aaaand he broke recently
Lol these people are funny 😂 a lot of amazing games on ps4 yet they choose their old ass ps3, damn what kind of joint did these fools smoked
This is actually the most honest video I've watched in, like, forever. Subscribed.
My original launch 60gb PS3 was stolen. Around 2011 I got a 40gb PS3 and it lasted me from then until just about two weeks ago. I got the yellow light. I did stop using it from about 2013-2017. 7teenageSmokers , please , stop smoking !
How much is a reball and where is a reliable place to get it done? Really dont want my ps3 to get stolen.
While im just sitting here being that one person who is yet to upgrade to ps4 and still uses their ps3 normally as if it were the year 2008 and not 2018
GDSpider64 you and me both add me FutureWarz_
Future Warz i dont have an account
Plus my ps3 is never available cuz my brother uses it as a blu ray player and sd card player so i never get to use it
Same lol...but i have a ps4 too so
same here brother ✌️
When I saw the title I was like play it

I did the hair dryer method to get my things backed up to another ps3 but I want to fix my 60gb what repair website should I use?
My ps3 has been used since it was made . My stepdad got it but then he gave it to me as he switched to PC gaming and now I use it as my main console.many years of good use.many controllers broken. (Ps: I have an original model bough in Poland.)
Great video man
My PS3 60 gig original still works great. Got it back in 2007. Although I don't use it much since I got my PS4 4 years ago.
Good stuff man! Keep it up, I have a couple laying around...
RESPECT!!
i play gta v
in 2006 20gb model 😎
i have a 40 gig fat model, first with all physical hardware for ps2 removed, mine got a partial yellow light of death issue, soley cause the intakes were jammed with dust and it got hot inside for a long time, so mine will not turn on right away sometimes, after cleaning all the dust bunnies, it turns on slightly better, but still not first try, but once on functions normally.

I repaired mine like 3 different times with the thermal compound and it’s dead. I love the PS3. RIP
where did you send your old ps3 to for reballing?
it's now 2018 I still have my FAT 80Gb PS3 with a 500gb drive in it, and also another FAT original model that plays PS2 games and has the extra ports and mem card reader. as you can clearly see by this macaroni graph, he has approximately (insert # here) more ps3's than you will ever have.
My PS3 used to power on perfectly, but (this was before I got my PS4) when I would play COD Advanced Warfare, And It would automatically power of after I was done, when I would turn it on it would show the green light, fade to yellow, then fade to a blinking red and start beeping. Reflowing the PS3 and reselling online. I hope that you put in CAPS and a very contrast color that the console was reflown.
Alternity666 I said I was gonna MaYbE do that but decided against it, just reballed it and sold it for 300
You could fill up the HDD on one of these with music and use it like a jukebox.
2018 now I bought mine again back from my uncle back In 2016 and he had he's sence launch day never got a yellow light of death the silver bar unit still play every now and then.
Is this also common with the ps3 fat with only 2 usb ports
Damn he called it old...
DAMN HE CALLED IT OLD 6 YEARS AGO. Mine is alive and kicking. Got her back in 2009
Just bought a brand new launch PS3 on ebay, im not sure if i should save it for a few decades or modify it to run cooler
Sampsonay wtf? Bndnew launch ps3?? How was that even possible
I have the piano black launch addition ps3 all shiny black no PlayStation logo and it's running like a charm
I’ve had my fat PS3 for 2 years still works great although it’s a later fat model that doesn’t play ps2 games
SuperSmashMaster43 I have the 80GB PS3 model which doesn’t play all PS2 games. Only selected PS2 games.
I put laptop coolers under all my consoles....never had a problem with over heating yet. Just make sure to use a good dual fan or better
I have a cover less ps3 (That doesn’t say PLAYSTATION 3) And it still works. But sometimes it does the yellow light of death. What should I do?
ImFreddyFazbearYT find a fix
Dude I see you everywhere 😂.
My fat PS3 got the yellow light of death 5 or 6 years ago. I got the PS3 Slim a few years ago and it still works fine. Plays Call Of Duty and every other game fine.
Celino From Celino and Barnes 😢
I have, ps3 and ps4 pro, i use both with same controller, p4 controller, works certainly! Because, with ps4 controller can control ps3 also, need only USB wire.
What if I only use this PS3 just to play PS1 and PS2 games? Dont think it requires much power and wont heat as much like playing a PS3 game
DoctorSilva No but you should still replace the compound!!
How much you want for it
I have 2 60gb PS3's.
Where can I send them to reball?
They atill work fine. Just planning ahead just in case.
Shuny 11 www.ps3specialist.com but if I were you I would just get copper shims and new compound
ProjectNova0 I added new compound to them. Didn't know about the Copper shims. Thanks for the tip. Will do
I'd like to know too since I bought a 60gb for $40 from a pawn shop and I'm replacing the blu ray drive soon as it arrives
I paid to have mine reballed from ps3 specialist and it didn't even last a year give or take 100 hours of play
I sent my 60gb ps3 to ps3specialist and it worked for 5 months. Sent it back for warranty repair and it took him over 3 months to return it with a fight. The second fix also lasted 5 months.

Good video
It gets the YLOD because sony was dumb enough to put a metal housed power supply right over one of its two processors. It coocks itself.
halo3odst also its the lead free solder that they use is brittle and the main board is too thin and warps ad in the issue you mentioned and its amazing any are still working.

But is it worth it?
coolakiIlen007 yeah I can fix it for you
Haha, are you sure? I sent it to a shop who were supposed to fix it but apparently the processors need replacing because they've been damaged by the heat, since they did not have these in stock they sent it back to me and charged me 50 euros plus the 50 euros it cost to ship it back and forth, and it's been sitting in its box since. I live in Sweden aswell so that's quite an obstacle..
coolakiIlen007 oh lord I thought you were in the states haha
The biggest problem is that the fat is made to be sitting up not flat if you notice there is vents on one side and the it sits on the side where the hard drive is if you stand it up the heat on the bottom can cool and it will help the paste on the CPU when it is flat the Bottom gets really hot check that out you'll notice how much cooler it runs I have the piano black launch addition the one with out the PS3 logo on top and haven't had any issues at all using this method and all I might do is open it and blow out the dust with a can of air every 2 months or so
Yeah I keep my personal ps3 up vertically as well, it also puts less heat on the laser so it’ll last a lot longer.

Hi I've issue with my old PS3 it is in some games just shuts down for some reason sometimes like less than a minute
after I turn it on. any idea what causing it ?
overheating
My CECHB-01 Fat 20GB (upgraded to 500GB) original fat PS3 still works today, but I'm use it mostly for playing PS2 games, because hooking PS2 on HDTV (even with component cable) still looks bad since PS2 wasn't designed for HDTV.
Even worse, the model ya have doesn't have wifi. But, not all can be choosers
didn't really care about wifi since that PS3 mostly use for playing PS2, while i have another PS3 (Slim version CECH 2501A) for playing regular PS3 games.

I know, I was like did someone take a shit on the television or my PlayStation 2 because I never remember graphics that bad
play on a crt
I had a launch ps3 and it got the yellow light of death and I cried for so long and I was about 7 or 8 years old and I'm 13 now and I still remember it

How long did your 60gb reball last?
jp554731 still going strong
i have the original phat ps3s. one of the first ones made
You never mentioned replacing the thermal compound under the IHS
Most people can't do that without breaking the motherboard.
I don't recommend arctic silver 5, instead I recommend you use acrtic cooling mx4, it is way better than arctic silver 5 because it's liquid already, and the quality is better.
ps3s sound like hurricanes
I actually want one of your PlayStations😆😅
Use it?
Back-up the data/game saves from your old ps3 consoles regularly. And one more thing get a new PS3 Ultra-Slim. Just in case the old ps3 consoles dies.
YOU PLAY ON IT LIKE ME
I had 320 gb ps3 before now I have the ps4 slim
I have 5 ps3
Ps4:Do you think Im a job to you?
Is there a guarantee with the ps3specialist.com reball?
Yes!
Tony Dunn 750 degrees mate? Must be something wrong my old 60GB because it yloded at 80degrees during gameplay
Kirks2010 PSN 750F is the reflow temp of the solder. It is not a safe temp for a package tobe exposed to during operation
Tony Dunn aww mate you are on about Fahrenheit I don’t use that here
The original PS3 had integrated PS2 in it. It is definitely worth the fix.
perci 88 get a PS2 and pc sucks at emulating PS2 games
how long does will it last for brand new
Dylan West without compound replacement probably 3-5 years but with a replacement about 10+
ProjectNova0 okay do you know where i can find how i could do that like a video?
You lost me at Arctic silver 5.. I highly recommend not to use this as it is conductive and it has a curing point before it works at its full performance.
try using active m x - 4, works better than Arctic Silver 5 and works at full performance as soon as you apply it.
this is not the best thermal compound in the world but is high-end for a PS3.
i never had trouble with red light
I think I have a 80gb ps3 I got it from my uncle in about 2010 with a 500gb hard drive
My dad just gave me his old ps3 cause he has ps4 and I have no idea what to do with it
Your statement about not to use your PS3 normally is a bit misleading.
I'm not completely disagreeing that older PS3s should have their thermal paste changed, but it isn't always a necessity right off the bat, especially if you confirm that the temps are within reason.
fred30w what is Webman?
It's basically an all-in-one tool for jailbroken (softmodded) PS3s that lets you do things like load up ISOs for some games, use your PS3 as an FTP server for transferring files, etc. It just so happens a very useful tool built into webman is to monitor temperatures of the CPU and GPU, even while in game. If you're so inclined, it'll let you override the syscon control (aka what unmodded PS3s use) and adjust the fan speed to your personal liking. It's great to verify that the PS3 isn't running too hot, especially if you haven't opened it up yet.
I have 2 of the same PS3(s)
When I got the yellow light of death I got so mad that I shipped it to Mexico
Brandon Playz that’s what happened with my ex
I have the 60gb
I play an hour or 2 a day
Mostly Call Of Duty
I do that too. Gotta conserve it.
Id buy that broken one
They seem to be really cheap when working. I went to a carboot sale (flee market ) and a guy had a few. I chose a slim one. In hinesight a large one would have been better due to being backwards compatible, but i would of missed out since there was a GTAIV disc in it when I got it home. I spent £10 ($15) on it. It had no cables etc. I found a set of cables with a broken one on another stall for £10 but I offered £5 so I got a bargain.
@Superstar Roundhouse how many broken ones dp ypu have now?
I have a 320 GB ps3 slim
Why?
40gb PS3
Turn it into a micro atx pc
Dude I've had the 80gb the one that came with the game motor storm remember that game anyways I've had that console since 2007 still works no issue I just don't get how people have theses issues all the time.
Ryan Scherbluk Not all of them have issues but you still should replace the compound because it’s hardened after 10+ years
80GBs didn’t come until 2008 for PAL and NTSC Markets
Kirks2010 PSN no it came out late 2007 I remember I bought it look it up the bundle that came with motor storm 80gb backwards compatible 4 USB card reader same as the 60gb
Ryan Scherbluk no the b/c models are 20GB, 40GB and 60GB. I got the same 80GB Bundle as you with motorstorm and mine is non b/c, grey plastic face trim
I have the same bundle as you. It DIED today :( YLOD. I'm so upset.
I have a ps3 slim with 300gb i dont want it so what should i do with it??
Jose Reyes we dont even live in the same city
Ima just keep it and see if in 30 years it becomes valuable or something
Dam i have a ps3 clasic with 60gb and i play on it daily
*What to do when your ps3 still works*
*Give it to meh*
My ps3 got the yellow light of death still works though B)
I sold my PS4 for $80 ... Still have PS3.
DRUNKEN RAMBLE wtf for 80 dollars are you kidding me
Why do you have 5 PS3s? 😂😂😂
I have more now DON’T QUESTION ME 😤❤️
ProjectNova0 tape them together and post a PlayStation 15 video demo😀
Anit Grg I have 6 ps2s.. It's good to have backup systems if you have alot of games, plus they're dirt cheap
Anit Grg. Well I have 9 PS3s and 13 Xbox 360s, because fuck it!
ProjectNova0 im weak🙃🙃
Misinformation reball is not a fix the ps3 didn't have problems it was the apu/gpu the chip is bad it has to be replaced by reballing or heating is just forcing it to work for a while after a while it won't even work
I have one but the hdmi port does not work.
Component
Use the av cable
System link all three or give me your spare PS3.
raiyu1985 nooooooo
Is there still online services fore ps3

transfactory no no no
I asked how much I can get for the 60gb system that has the OG box, controller, all the instructions and flyers, and wires, and my game stop told me that I'll get a measley 40 bucks, regardless of it having everything. Cheap Bastards.
transfactory
Unless you want 5c
What to do?? Play it..
what is wrong with the sound?
devamarketer what do you mean?
i sold mine 1 year ago to buy a ps4
Where do you send PS3 to get serviced
Jonathan Thompson, I would like to know that myself. I have a bunch of great PS2 games I'd like to play still.
toddster119 let me Know if u guys found a good place to send them to online
So far, I hadn't...
I want to know as well
I have a slim now, but when I first had ylod on my fat, I took it apart, and put in in a box.
then blasted with hairdryer for 15mins.
It lasted 3 months, and I was able to get my data.
when it happened again, I opened it, stuck it on 4 foil and, (honestly) cooked it at 190º for 8 minutes...
lasted a year and a half after that. The third time, I forgot that it was in the oven! heard all the components falling off😂
Hahaha that happend to me yesterday was already melting xD
More show, less tell.
