  • From initial prototypes on social media that many considered a fake shoe that Brooks would never make, has now emerged the Glycerin Max. I gave into the Hype and picked up a pair. Over the span of 3 runs so far, I've given it a fair test. Watch to hear my thoughts on this and whether or not it is worth picking up for 200€.

    YES!!! I agree with everything you said. Every ShoeTuber hyped this thing to the moon. I bought it as soon as I could. In the first half mile I thought I must be crazy as my experience couldn't be more opposite to what they ALL said. I had to really fight with it to achieve easy pace. It felt like more work than normal to just try and casually run. This shoe probably has a market for folks that do just want to plod and have excessive levels of protection BUT it's a terrible experience for people who like to cruise around at an easy to moderate pace. I even gave it a second chance as a "could thus just be my recovery run shoe. Where I absolutely just crawl along". The weight of it just nah....
    This has really made me question the integrity of other ShoeTubers with their "my views are my own... No one has paid me" spiel.
    Yeah they might not have been paid but I think they want the free shoes to keep coming.
    Thank you for being honest!! I'll be subscribing!

      AND the price point is way too high if you don't love the shoe

      Thanks a lot and really glad to have you here!
      I really wanted to love this shoe because it looks so cool and I'm always for companies doing new things. Especially Brooks who are known to make 'boring' shoes.
      Yeah, some reviews do seem a bit questionable and seem to repeat many of Brooks' own claims about the shoe.
      But with reviewers of course there is always the question if you like this kind of shoe in the first place and I just don't really.
      It's the kind of shoe that many seem to think is necessary for easy/recovery runs and everything with a bit of ground feel is bad for the legs. Never found that to be the case for me. The Pegasus Plus for instance has been working really well for me for these kind of runs the past few weeks.
      Thanks again for the sub:)

    The reviews of this shoe have been interesting.
    Anyway, this shoe is not a goer at its exorbitant launch price.
    Perhaps after 2 years or so, when they have been discounted about 60%, I might try them.

    • @robin29991

      Yes, what I think everyone can agree on with this one is that Brooks did at least not make a 'boring' shoe here.
      In two years who knows if 45mm will be considered a Barefoot Shoe;)

    It looks incredible… in a whacky kinda way! So do you reckon the foam would suit a performance shoe moreso than a recovery shoe?

    • @robin29991
      @robin29991  4 дні тому +2

      Indeed one of the coolest looking shoes I've ever seen. Looks more like a prop from an Alien movie than a Brooks Running Shoe.
      This foam is gold. Brooks needs to put this stuff in a truly lightweight Hyperion style shoe with much lower stack height. That could be a winner.

    As a heavier runner with a lot of muscle mass, these shoes are lovely. Small runners usually don’t benefit from this type of shoe.

    • @robin29991
      @robin29991  3 дні тому +1

      Yeah, that's been the main conclusion for me. I think in general, body weight makes for a huge factor with what a shoe feels like and is often overlooked in reviews.

  • @mrgroundhog9790

    Looks an interesting shoe. I’m 100kg so might find better activation of the foam, however the price point seems a little steep. Thanks for the review.

      It really is an interesting shoe and I felt like I really wanted to like them but they just don't work for me at all.
      If you like Max Cushion Shoes, they could do it for you. Just know you're getting something heavy with zero ground feel.
      Agree on the price point. The shoe is just kind of limited to very slow Recovery Runs and for that niche use case it seems too much.

  • @RustyNinja100
    @RustyNinja100 4 дні тому +1

    Its hard to have 2 heavy leg days and to keep up mileage in a week. I think these are worth trying if you constantly have sore hamstrings/glutes/quads. I definitely need to try this

    • @robin29991
      @robin29991  4 дні тому

      Go for it. I think very slow Recovery Days is basically this shoe's niche as you don't feel the ground at all. You probably have a bit more muscle mass than me lol, so could work well for you.

    for the price point of a shoe with no plate, it just makes no sense. There are plenty of other shoes that are way better - for less.

    • @robin29991
      @robin29991  4 дні тому +2

      Yeah, not just having no plate but I think this shoe is so limited. It's not even a Daily Trainer for me, it's pretty niche in only being for very slow Recovery Days.

    I wear glycerin gts 21 in size US 10 Wide what size should I get in glycerin max? Should I go for half a size up because it comes in medium width

    • @robin29991
      @robin29991  День тому +1

      I would just go for the same size unless you have an extremely wide foot. The fit is already pretty spacious.

  • @TimGrose
    @TimGrose 5 днів тому +2

    Umm probably not the shoe for me either. Brooks marketing is a bit odd with these Max shoes. They all seem to be high stack 6mm drop shoes with rockers and zero ground feel and really nothing like the "standard" one of the same name so it seems. I think it is a type of shoe that some runners now love and seemingly can't run in anything with any "ground feel". Was amused however that a 275g ish shoe is your heaviest one. That would be one of my "lightest". You are however about 20kg less in "bulk" even if I still thing am a "skinny beanpole"

    • @robin29991
      @robin29991  4 дні тому +1

      Oh No, don't buy this one, Tim. Weight would be ridiculous in your size.
      Technically the Vomero 5 is my heaviest shoe but I didn't include that as it's technically a lifestyle shoe.
      I think I was trying to be diplomatic with this one. As you say, many people seem to love this type of shoe. I remember I always kind of enjoyed the Invincible for a bit of bouncy and squishy fun. But this completely dwarfs the Invincible. It's just excessive and feels awkward at every pace for me. Yeah, even if being diplomatic, this shoe is pretty terrible...

    Isn't that the women's version of the shoe? Thought the mens had a yellow foam inside 🤔

    • @robin29991
      @robin29991  4 дні тому +4

      Yes, indeed. I buy the women's model most of the time because I prefer the colors. I have a pretty small foot so it works out well for me.

      @@robin29991 The women’s colorway looks better. Any idea if they are narrower than the men’s version in the same converted size?

    • @robin29991
      @robin29991  4 дні тому +1

      I think the might be narrower. It says Medium(B) on the tag which I think converts to a narrow men's version.
      But honestly these are not very narrow at all. I have more of a wide foot and they fit perfectly.

    You are lightweight and don't seem to need to wear max cushioned shoes. I'm a heavier runner, would these shoes work for me? I don't care about my time, I just run 10K for fun.

    • @robin29991
      @robin29991  4 дні тому

      Hard to predict of course. But watching other reviews, I get the impression that I am one of the very few people who don't like the shoe. Most people seem to love it actually. Could very well work for for you.

  • @alb.1911
    @alb.1911 4 дні тому +1

    If you are so light, just get the Hyperion 2 for the easy runs... 😉
    I think you can send back the Glycerin Max...

    • @robin29991
      @robin29991  4 дні тому

      Been thinking about that one actually. Could work well for me. But not sure with this Adidas Evo SL coming up which seems like a similar kind of shoe.
      I don't think much of sending shoes back after a video, doesn't seem right to me.
      I'll persist with this for maybe a few more runs, and it could well end up on Vinted or Marketplace eventually haha.

      @@robin29991 I think you won't like the Adidas Evo SL, a reviewer confirmed with the durometer that the foam has the same hardness of the actual Adios Pro 3 that is not soft at all.
