Agree looks great. Also whoever for Brooks is deciding the pricing for their shoes needs a demotion. Hyperion Elite 4 for 250, Glycerin Max 200, Hyperion Max 2 for 180 is too much.
I love mine! I'm more of a trotter than runner, but they feel so good under my feet I can't help but lace them up and go a few miles daily!! Also so glad you have reviews with a woman's point of view on the shoes as well! Great job you two....
Glad to hear that Brooks has a contender for a change. I have purchased Brooks several times, including some of the GTS iterations back in the day. This one is tempting! Thanks for reviewing it.
I picked it up on launch day. Really enjoyed it on my first run. Was feeling a tiny bit of a blister forming around mile 8 or 9....but the fit felt fine. I threw some lock laces in it today....for easy slip on and off now!
First pair of brooks inhave ever purchased in my 30 years of running. Glad I waited. Their design team has finally woke up. These are some damn good shoes.
Picked up a pair for easy miles post marathon. They're pretty cool, definitely achieves that super soft run. The feel while walking and running is completely unique and indeed extremely comfortable. For me though, and only done 1 run so far, it feels a little "muddy". It doesn't like quick transitions at all, and wants you to lock in to a medium turnover pace. I actually wish there was a little bit less rocker and a little bit more responsiveness. I feel a little bit forced into my stride. It's a comfortable and quick-ish stride though, and I can see this shoe just accumulating the miles easy as pie. On the plus side, agree that they feel very stable for how much stack there is. The stack is noticeable while running but it didn't feel any different stability wise than my glycerin 21's.
@@Matt-cp9wh yeah Ik, it’s super firm even compared to the novablasts in my opinion. Just personal preference tho, if it works for you who am I to judge.
@PennyMan123 Completely agree! Sold mine and replaced them with the Prime X2 Strung and I find those much nicer to run in! I'd like to try the Glycerin as well as the new Glideride Max
I actually wasn't expecting these from Brooks, they are excellent in several aspects. 5 Stars I only have one situation that I don't like, the fact that they don't have a gusseted tongue. Apart from this point they are practically perfect, for me and for what I do.
My initial run, I felt the weight but by the 3rd-4th run, they really felt effortless…I don’t know if the foam broke in just a smidge or what but really happy with the purchase…will likely wear for my next half marathon
@maldoror5750 they feel very good, definitely helping keep my legs more fresh as I'm increasing mileage for training. A lot more cushioned than what I'm used to but in a good way. initially they felt big to me, almost comically big like clunky but that has diminished. the shoe obviously hasn't gotten smaller, it's how they feel on me. I can pick up the pace in them and it feels natural. Also the roads have been wet lately and the traction is strong. A keeper for me.
I've run 20 miles in this shoe. SUPER comfortable but my feet feel like are 100 degrees after mile 3.. However when I'm done running, the max comfort continues. I almost would prefer to just wear this throughout the day as a walker and standing for a long period of time as opposed to running.
Haven’t run in mine yet but when I opened the box, I couldn’t believe how big the shoe looked. I wear a M 12.5 and it looks like a size 15. And heavy. Hoping the run experience is as good as everyone says it is!
@ I am really enjoying them and find myself wearing them for pretty much every easy/long run. They don’t feel heavy on the run. Super protective and insanely comfortable.
@jasonstiwald Interesting 🤔 I can't decide between the Glycerin Max or the Glideride Max? Want something that's super comfortable for those 20+ mile long runs. At the moment I'm using the Prime X2 Strung, but after about 15 miles they start to ache my feet a little so I need another offering. Trouble is finding a shop that stocks them to maybe go try on before I buy. Thanks for the feedback
I’m lucky to have a buddy who owns a running shoe shop so I get to go try shoes on the treadmill in the store. I love glycerins, ran my first marathon in them back in the day. These are not glycerins, though softer the hight IMO is too high and unstable feeling for runs. It’s more of an every day walking shoe. If y’all are bored of your glycerins the ASICS nimbus are in that line as well maybe even better these days. But the AP3 has been the best running shoe I’ve tried in the last 2/3 years.
My issue with Brooks is that the women's shoes always have the better colors. The fact that the woman got a pink/red color and men got a yellow is exactly what I'm talking about. The men's version of this shoe is bland. They should have both colors available for men and women. Come on Brooks! That being said, it's a really awesome looking shoe.
I've been waiting on this one even though I already pulled the trigger. Got about 20 miles and feel like I'm running on .marshmallows. Not 100% on if I should've gone Superblast, but ya know.

Would shoes be even wider and taller in the next 3-5 years 😂
I really wanted to love this shoe and was so excited when I received it. It was announced literally as I was in a store considered some max cushioned, non-plated shoes. I've always had issues with some of these because I generally don't care for very soft shoes. I thought the dual density approach with a firmer, more responsive forefoot would be exactly what I had been after. But after a week of running in them, logging about 30-35 miles, I have to say that they're really not for me. The heel is very, very soft in my opinion. To the point where I don't care for the transition and toe off because I feel like the shoe is trying to get me to land closer to the heel to take advantage of the cushioning. But the heel is so soft with no supporting element like a plate that I feel like I'm sinking into them causing some of the most excruciating post-run knee pain I've felt in years. I've worn them on a variety of runs and haven't found a pace that works for me in them. But the midsole isn't the real problem for me. After the Hyperion Max 2, which is maybe the best upper of the year or in a few years, I'm bummed/confused by the upper on the Glycerin Max. It might be one of the hottest, most ill-fitting uppers I've worn- to the point where if I hadn't ordered directly from Brooks would have thought they were a knockoff or defected/seconded item. After a week with them, I have more blisters on my feet than any shoe other than the Alphafly 2 (which turned my feet into Swiss cheese). The length is spot-on, but the toe box volume is so big that my feet move around in them no matter how they're tied, causing blisters on my big and small toes on both feet. Additionally, my last run in them created huge blisters on my instep/arch. And even with the blisters, the toe isn't even my least favorite part of the upper. The area around the ankle and heel is so thick and absorbent that I thought again that it was a fake. That area of the shoe is literally 2.5-3x thicker than that on the Hoka Skyward X, a shoe I consider pretty plush. This cushioning is not only unnecessary, but also creates massive problems in warmer weather. I wore them for a 14 mile long run on Sunday in the mid-70s (yes, it's still too hot in Texas) and that area of the shoe was still very wet on Tuesday morning. Maybe it's a manufacturing issue as the shoe scales up in size (mine is a mens 12) because I purchased a pair for my daughter as well (womens 8) and it doesn't seem nearly as comically thick and absorbent. Again, I desperately wanted to love this shoe- on paper it sounded like exactly what I was looking for. But the pain from the softness of the foam (and I'm not a big person who compresses the foam a whole lot) to the many issues caused by the upper, I think my quest continues. I'll give it one more run before I more than likely send back to Brooks.
Wow you really pulling through pains. One booster for me is enough to send the shoes back. Soft foam to stiff foam transition is what I worried about. But I guess I’ll have to try it to see.
i agree with almost everything you've said. I don't like the turnover, in fact I felt they were muddy in the turnover...I tried to do strides in them and felt like I was running through knee high mud. When I put them on, I instantly knew I'd get some blisters some places, so I put on anti blister prevention bandaids and guess what, they were rubbed off by the end of an hour easy pace run. I'm so glad I had them on, I would have been toast without. When I first put them on, I was so happy that there was room for my wide feet to splay, yet I still felt rubbing on my instep. I also really felt the weight of them. I was hoping they could be an easy long run (marathon training) shoe. My feet felt tired after an hour, I can't even imagine what I'd feel like after two or three hours. I put them on the scale and there is about a half an ounce difference between these and adidas PX2 strung, and the strung has taken me on 3 hour runs and left me feeling good and energized. These felt like I was dragging a brick after an hour. I'm sending mine back, they are not for me at all.
@@julie99nlsorry they didn’t work for you either. I have relatively narrow, low volume feet so the Glycerin Max really created problems for me. And I completely agree on the weight balanced against the responsiveness. My third run in them was 2 hours and about 40 minutes in I knew I was in trouble. It was a slog after that with the weight very noticeable. And I generally don’t have a problem with “heavy” shoes if they have some pop. I ran a marathon in the Skyward X with no problem at all. The Brooks just doesn’t have the pop of the Hoka. Hopefully you find something that works better for you!
I got a hot spot at the side of the ball of my right foot. Last time I felt this from a shoe on the first run I returned it. Thinking about it for this as well as I also bought a pair of Puma Mag Max at a really good deal soon after ordering the Glycerin Max. Another thing I found odd was the heel feeling to low as if I could step right out of it. Really nice midsole though, just had a few gripes after the first run (6 miles).
@paulmulks not yet! Fortunately I have a bunch of shoes so not in a big hurry to buy, however I did pick up the NB 1080v13 on sale. I really like that shoe, on my second pair.
I’m glad Thomas and Brooks are on better terms after Thomas sat down brooks and gave them the whole ‘im really disappointed’ serving over the Hyperion elite.
I’m 215lb and just had my first run in this shoe (6 miles) and loved it! I walk a bit to the start point of my runs and can say it feels just as good to walk in. Very comfortable and energetic, felt better than my Ghost Max 1 which I wear casually and run in.
The tongue is not gussetted and slides to the side. Returned as that drives me nuts. ASICS and Puma have great elasticated and gussetted tongues that stay in place.
@@julie99nl Yeah, Meaghan normally likes Max Cushion Shoes and I don't really... Same thoughts as you. They just feel like hard work and very unnatural.
Nice looking shoe. $200 for a heavy Superblast though? Ugh (I know you said it’s not a Superblast although everything described just sounds like a Superblast if it gained weight)
Don't like the achilles flare upper, not getting any white shoe ever. Will stick with my Glycerin 21 all black. Black doesn't show dirt and goes with everything sweats, jeans, dress, anything. Can wear then to church, work. anywhere. All black for me...Just my take🤷♂🤷♂🤷♂
Loved this shoe. then- hated this shoe. I’ve never had my legs feel so fresh after 20 miler. the cush and the bounce are really wonderful. When running at an easy 8:45 pace- they were fine, but I felt like I was working a little harder than most new high tech shoes. but- totally understandable for it’s weight and heft. Then I did a second 15miler, with some tempo miles at 7:00/mi pace with a friend, and I was surprised at how responsive, bouncy, lively and fun to run in at a better pace. The cushion is really well tuned. Sadly- I’ve got a narrow foot, and the fit doesn’t work for me. the medial midsole comes up a bit hight into the upper, and gave me blisters. Sadly, had to return them. Really wish I could own them. 5'7" 135lbs

How does this compare to the ghost max 2 ?
Softer and bouncier
Glycerin Max or Glideride Max ($30 cheaper) ???
Hmm, as a lighter runner with a high cadence, this didn't do much at all for me.
Maybe that's why I don't like it. But, I think Meaghan is pretty small too.. But for me it just didn't work. so heavy, so clunky.
@@julie99nl Yeah, Meaghan normally likes Max Cushion Shoes and I don't really... Same thoughts as you. They just feel like hard work and very unnatural.
@@julie99nl
Same too bulky too heavy, too much hype
For the price, I feel like I will go for more V5, or am I missing something here
Way more pop in this midsole than Fresh Foam X.
I call it the Mullet Max with the DNA Tuned foam. Business in the front. Party in the back. 😎
Sounds like an absolute homerun for you guys.
Between two shoes vs magmax
Brooks Glycerin Max vs hoka cielo?
If you’re willing to pay Cielo
Dear Brooks, make this one in Narrow please!!!
Shoe of the Year?
Nahhh
nice but 200$ 2 much 😮
Nice looking shoe. $200 for a heavy Superblast though? Ugh (I know you said it’s not a Superblast although everything described just sounds like a Superblast if it gained weight)
Without any of the comfort of the superblast.
Been buying Brooks for years maybe around 10 pairs now and I always am disappointed. With the exception of Adrenaline shoes
Don't like the achilles flare upper, not getting any white shoe ever. Will stick with my Glycerin 21 all black. Black doesn't show dirt and goes with everything sweats, jeans, dress, anything. Can wear then to church, work. anywhere. All black for me...Just my take🤷♂🤷♂🤷♂
Superblast still 👑
Ghost Max 2, Glycerine Max, Hyperion Max 2, Mad Max, Super Max, Superduper Max, Ultra Super Max Plus. When will the Max madness end?
Introducing Ultra!
5'7" 135lbs
After a while most shoes mold to your feet
A stylish, interesting but also odd design. It's not really competitive at full price. I'll wait a year or 2 for heavy discounts.
How far from a Superblast is this? Ah you've answered! WATCH TO THE END BEFORE ASKING! apologies
The adrenaline is 4 hour and a bit more
...all of the sudden you (singl.) can say look!
I like sensational
