      Hey Jody-I'm glad you liked it. I ended up shooting it twice. The 1st time in 360. It didn't turn out like I had hoped. Kept the single lens POV.

    Ironically I am likely moving to Mesa at the end of this month from Tucson, when I'm able to get it together enough my primary goal is to get a Cruiser of my own to do Doordash on, my left leg got destroyed in a hyper-scooter accident a few months back and I really need the exercise yet the assistance to back me so I don't overdo it, damn city kept my scooter for safe keeping only to want to charge me what it was worth by the time I had enough of my mind together in the hospital to track it down so I couldn't even retrieve it to sell it to help with my recovery, even got denied food stamps for my recovery too even though I have no savings or ability to work for the past few months, but as bleak and horrible as things have been, your videos help give me hope for much better times ahead, I was terrifying at first at the idea of riding again, but your videos help me get over the trauma caused by my accident, thank you my friend and God bless, hopefully I'll see you on the trail sometime when I get out there 😊

      I'm sorry to hear about your accident. Terrible what the city of Tucson did with your scooter! I hope your recovery goes well so you can get back to doing what you enjoy. Western Powerline Trail is a popular biking location here in the East valley.

      @@EnergizedZonie when I'm on 2 wheels again I will definitely check it out and I'll be sure to keep an eye out for you, sure I'll see you from half a mile down the trail lol, I plan on getting the orange version when I'm able, matches the orange theme I already wear on my gloves and the bag I plan on adding to the rear, I can't wait, it looks so much safer than my old scooter, I just hope I can tailer the throttle to smooth out the jerkiness since I know I'll need to rely on it heavily now, sometimes just moving my leg feels like it's grinding bone on bone so I'll definitely need to temper that beast by sinking the throttle to the peddle assist to make use of it more like gears

    Thanks for putting in the effort on this. With the weight of the gear carried on your bike, your size and weight and the fact you didn’t hold back at all on the throttle or hill tests, nearly 50 miles was pretty impressive. I’ve watched another range test video of a Wired e-bike. Pedal assist level 1 only was used, almost no hills and the reviewer was your height but weighed 225lbs. He made it 72 miles before battery quit. It would appear that with someone weighing ~180lbs and using level assist one only would most likely easily make the claimed 80 mile range that Wired claims for at an assist level one.

    • @EnergizedZonie
      @EnergizedZonie  3 місяці тому

      Thanks for the comment. The intended main takeaway was your range should be better than mine. Establishing an individual range baseline is something I think most riders want to know to help reduce the dreaded "range anxiety".

    Thanks for sharing the info and the ride. That's the color and step through i was going to choose. I may hold off for a torque censor option that hopefully wired gets in the future. or atleast a hybrid . also the chain guard on both sides is a must. my current cruiser has both sides. and is a great feature for these ebikes.

    Awesome video. I had a very hard time setting up the rear rack when i got my 2024+ Wired Freedom. I'm wondering how you got those mirrors in 😅 I have two but have no idea how to put them on the end of the handle bars.
    But yes, it's everything you said, the same here. I ran my bike down to 0% where it turned off on me at 35 miles, but I was going top speed a lot too. But I believe I could double that to 70 miles if I treated it like a normal E-Bike on PAS 1 or PAS 2.

      Thank you for the feedback! You will need to remove the end bar plastic/rubber caps by prying outwards carefully until you can grab the cap with your fingers and remove. It can be a bit tricky to work the cap loose in the beginning. I actual broke one of the plastic caps off the rubber expansion tube by applying too much force.

      Sorry to hear you are having the same issue. I did hear back from Wired. The only advice offered was to adjust the throttle start strength in the settings to the slowest takeoff setting (3). Currently, I have it set to (0). The fastest start strength.

      @@EnergizedZonie Oh that's interesting. I talked to Steve and he recommended I set the start strength to 0 (I had it set to 2), and that seemed to keep the throttle stable, just testing it in the garage, but out on the road it still seems like it's jumpy.

    In case is helpful as Zonie mentioned throttle issues, with my new Freedom, on 1st ride, my throttle did not do anything at all but Power Assist worked fine. Contacted Wired thru Chat and suggestion was possible cables disconnected or loose connection - Wired recommended opening up the velcro cloth like material that is covering the cables directly in front of the handlebars - apparently connectors can come loose during shipping. Solved my problem - if disconnected make sure the Arrows line up on the black plastic connectors before reconnecting. A suggestion is you may want to check these connectors where cables come together to make sure they are not just loose. Only takes a minute to check. But I have also heard on UA-cam of a few other Cruisers describing a similar jerky throttle.

    • @EnergizedZonie
      @EnergizedZonie  3 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for the suggestion. I did try go back and check the connections. No issues with them. I'm not giving up on trying to find a fix. If there is a fix, I think it will come from the Wired owners community. This is the exact quote I received from Wired 2 days ago when I asked for any suggested fixes "There is always a throttle delay for safety purposes".

    230 degrees is about as far as you wanna push them.
    Make sure you set the preload with a torque wrench on the headset. I tightened mine. It was loose from factory. And I run 25 psi. Both helped take the flex out of the head and wheels.

    • @jfly2249
      @jfly2249 4 місяці тому

      You are wrong and must be listening to David Cleveland who is the only person that has ever quoted 230, he just pulled that number from his butt and it shows how little Cleveland knows and proves he is a fraud. The Wired motors and the varnish used on the windings is good to 360 and the motor will shut off at 350.

    • @EnergizedZonie
      @EnergizedZonie  4 місяці тому

      So far, I haven't experienced any issues up to 294 degrees. Where I live, I can exceed 230 degrees on the motor using only 50%-75% motor power. I do not plan on pushing higher motor temps for sustained periods of time.

    • @EnergizedZonie
      @EnergizedZonie  2 місяці тому

      Thanks for the comment @diysolaradventures7894. I looked this bike up on Amazon. Looks like you get a lot of bang for the buck. It's actually $1499 with the $300 shipping fee. I could not see many details on the components in the specs. The biggest concern I would have is the mechanical disc brakes that come on this bike instead of hydraulic disk brakes. I did not see a brake router diameter listed either. A bike with this much power and this much weight would need a minimum of 180mm rotors (203mm preferred) and minimum 2 piston hydraulic disk brakes (4 piston preferred). I know it's a budget e-bike and they need to save money using cheaper components to be competitive, but braking power should be a serious consideration before you purchase it.
      Another consideration would be if this bike came nylon gears only in the motor instead of steel & nylon gears. I did not see a torque rating, but I'm assuming it's at least 100-150nm's. With (2) 2500 watt motors, the life span of those motors could be significantly reduced with only nylon gears. I'm not trying to talk you out of anything, I'm just offering my opinions for whatever they are worth.

      Thanks for the comment @bizzfo. Wow 96 miles. That’s incredible! You are definitely getting more out of your batteries than I am. Wasn’t your butt tired after 6 hours? If I had the will power to leave it mostly in pedal PAS 1 and I didn’t jam on that throttle the way I do, I could get much better range. Sadly, I have very little will power and can’t help but push this bike to It’s limits on nearly every ride.

    I am racking my brain back and forth trying to decide between the Freedom and the Cruiser. Both my wife and I are 5'8" tall, me being 165 lbs muscular build and her being a more slender build at 130 lbs, but strong in her own right... I think I like the idea of the cruiser more all around as a whole, but it does seem like it may not handle quite as well on a more "off-road" trail due to the frame configuration (both slightly less clearance as well as potential frame flex)? Also, the controller being housed in an enclosed area really worries me vs. it being out in the open on the freedom. I understand you probably have never tried the freedom, but what are your thoughts on the matter?

    • @EnergizedZonie
      @EnergizedZonie  3 місяці тому

      Thank you for the comment. You described your use case perfectly. If you are looking at riding on more challenging off road trails, I would recommend the Freedom or the Cruiser. The step-over design offers better rigidity and less frame flex. As I mentioned in the video, these bikes are are pretty big. Sounds like you may not have any issues with stepping over the mid section or swinging your leg over the rear rack. Keep in mind, if you plan on using a rear rack bike bag most of the time, it can be challenging clearing the extra height of the bag. Enjoy the ride!!

    27:50 It looks to me like your seat is too low. I'm 6'3" so shorter than you and would have the seat higher. Your feet should not touch the ground when mounted on a bicycle (barely touching with your tippy toes). Having a seat too low will cause knee pain. I heard you say earlier that you have knee problems.

    • @EnergizedZonie
      @EnergizedZonie  16 днів тому

      Thanks for the comment @tarstarkusz. I try to the seat high enough to where I have to tip toe to reach the ground without coming off the seat at a stop. That’s just what works best for me. In order to get full leg extension, do you keep your seat high enough where you have to come off the seat when you stop?

    • @tarstarkusz
      @tarstarkusz 16 днів тому

      @@EnergizedZonie If you have to use your tippy toes to reach the ground when stopping, you are probably at the right height (it just looked low in the video). Yes, when I come to a stop, I have to dismount. But I usually pull over so I can remain seated and keep my right foot on the curb (which is a few inches higher than street level) at lights and stuff. But I live in the city where everywhere has a curb. Mounting and dismounting at ever corner with a light is a pain. That's why I use the curb trick.

    I question the effectiveness of one time stopping with larger rotors. The braking force is limited by the friction between the tire and the ground. This is especially true in the back. Your weight shifts forward under hard braking and allows the rear wheel to lose traction and lock up.
    Where big brakes help is frequent stopping or long descents. Larger rotors can absorb and radiate more heat more quickly than a smaller rotor.

    • @EnergizedZonie
      @EnergizedZonie  16 днів тому

      Agreed. Love having those 203mm rotors with 4 piston hydraulic disc brakes. Great stopping power and heat dissipation.

    I thought all cruisers came with the hellbender headset, the bottom ring should say hellbender on it, the top is whatever Wired used before but it isn’t the working part of the headset, the first ring is. Loosen the two stem bolts then torque the bolt under the little rubber cap from 2.5nm to 3.5nm. They fixed the throttle delay, my cruiser has none.

    • @Killerpaintman
      @Killerpaintman 4 місяці тому

      Did your cruiser come with the hellbwnder? I am getting ready to order black or lime green cruiser and was wondering...also is your throttle pretty smooth or jerky? And not much delay? Thanks

    • @jfly2249
      @jfly2249 4 місяці тому

      Mine came with the Hellbender installed and the throttle has almost no delay. The Hellbender has the added advantage of making the bike exceptionally stable at high speed. I find it more stable at high speed than my V1 Freedom with the battery capacity to really drive it like a small motorcycle if you want. Get black, it goes faster!

    • @EnergizedZonie
      @EnergizedZonie  4 місяці тому

      Thank you! I am glad you pointed out to look at the bottom ring. It does say Hellbender 70 Visco. The top cap has "XR" written on it. I need to write Wired back and ask them to disregard my request for a replacement. Do you know how they fixed the throttle delay? The only suggestion I have received so far from Wired is to change start strength to the slowest level (3). The delay is still there, but with a slower start from takeoff. So you do not get the mid-range "jerks" or "studders" when you apply a slight throttle increase?

    • @jfly2249
      @jfly2249 4 місяці тому

      They got rid of the delay although the throttle is a bit twitchy compared to the old. I hope they remap the throttle in future batches to make it a bit smoother although I’ve gotten used to it. In terms of reflashing your display to the new software, you would have to ask Wired, you might be able to send them your display or they might send you a dongle and the software. Be nice and they will bend over backwards for you. Your headset can be easily adjusted to eliminate all wobble, it doesn’t take much force as the adjustment range is only 2.5nm to 3.5nm. If your chain is falling off, try inflating your rear shock to your weight or the 250lbs max and turning the red lever to the middle (down) position to make the shock stiffer, completely solved the issue for me.

    I have a question if someone could answer please. I bought a Freedom recently and would like to get mirrors that come out of the handlebars similar to in this video. Does that caps on the ends of both handlebars pop out or off, or do they need to be cut out with like a knife? I have not been able to figure this out and do not want to start cutting. I tried loosening the screw near the end of the handlebars but am not sure about this. Appreciate in advance the information you can provide!

He wants me to diagnose it and take video of it like WTF? I don't want to do that and shouldn't have to do that. But apparently with what I've told him he can't narrow it down or doesn't believe me. Is it only happening in PAS 1 and not 2-5? If so, I wonder if you might be having an issue with your controller or your button cluster? I would hope Steve would offer to send you a replacement component or part that he suspects is causing the issue. Good luck getting the issue resolved. Please let me know how it turns out.

If you use one of the discount codes from one of the affiliate e-bike reviewers on UA-cam, you can get an additional $100 off.
