The czech public put her 5th. She won thanks to the international vote. Tbh I find suspicious the big margin of votes she got over Elly and Mydy...

Same, I belive it might be rigged. Maybe not but still damn 59 precent of the votes goes to Aiko? But I don't even remember her being in top 3 favourites (Mydy, Elly and Tom Sean were definitely tio 3 favs)
Yeah the voting was very fishy. I do not feel in the place to question the czech delegation's choices of % for czechia and rest of world, but the numbers REALLY look like there was some shadyness in the vote numbers for Elly from Czechia and for Aiko from international. Not to say that the artists are to blame, it just looks like some fans abused that you could simply vote multiple times using different devices or even incognito tabs in your browser. They need to have email verification if they wanna avoid that.
@@timschnitzel I didn't know that but that could explain it. They should have done something in order to prevent people from voting multiple times or, at least, reduce the maximum possible votes (inserting an email account, as you said, for example). Otherwise, it feels very undemocratic cause a big number of votes doesn't necessarily represent a majority
The studio version sounds great. The national final performance was very much not that. I'm hoping she can pull it together, because I think there's some potential in the material.
As i mentioned in the poll, I think this is a song that can qualify if she gets the live performance up to the same level as her studio version. 🙂It wasn't my first choice but I do see a lot of potential here. Clearly there is an audience for it because I was sure MYDY was going to win. (most crucially an international audience) It could really stand out.
Im so sad that Mydy didn't win, they could deliver the whole package perfectly! They are used to big stages and have a lot of experience. I really thought they would win ...
But at the same time, i find the live performance of red flag parade much more fun than the studio version.
Idk about Aiko, the song is something new, something that we haven't seen yet. But the scream just .. hm.. caught me of Guard 😂 she has a nice personality tho!
About the whole voting process, i think it's super weird that the whole world can vote for Czech? It's the only country that allows this. But i do enjoy that they have improved the national finle since last year! Still could be better, but it was way less awkward 😂😂

The same happened to Vesna last year with their song My sisters crown and everybody was criticizing their live performance. What happened? Finally they finished in top10. For me a good song for now, they have 5 months for improving and I am sure they will do it… 🎉
I wish good luck to Aiko and Czechia, I'm pretty sure that she will improve her performance. The song has some potential for sure. However, I don't understand the Czech NF concept in the first place. It's literally someone else choosing their song, not Czech people themselves. I don't get what's the point of having a NF in this case whatsoever? Having an internal selection would be a much reasonable option imo. If the idea of having an international voting with such a big impact to the NF results is that there is also an international audience in ESC and therefore it should help to choose a song with the biggest potential for Eurovision then this logic is just too simplified and it won't work here. Also, if the problem is that in Czechia isn't much of interest in NF then I think that such a selection method will decrease this interest even more.
I had to stop this video and go listen to the studio version of this song. It’s pretty good. Much better than the live version on the finals. Hopefully she does better during the Eurovision contest.

@@marsukarhu9477 problem is, she didn't sound good. And it's still a song contest, though the other aspects mentioned do play a part... I voted for her since I liked the song best as well, and many people said that Vesnas NF performance was also bad last year. Also, all of the NF participants sounded off-key this year, so it might be a sound-thing. I'm hoping she improves until the SF.
@@emdove Yeah, I'm pretty sure that she can actually sing well live, so when they'll fix the sound problems she'll do well, just like Vesna 😁

I liked this song the most. The performance needs some help though. But I stan Aiko 💪
Where is Mydy? Where is Elly? This is very disappointing
The "out of breath" comment makes me think of both Loreens and Chanels grueling work out regiments for months before Eurovision to ensure that "out of breath" would not be an issue in their ESC performance.

If you are going to be doing lots of choreo while singing you need to have very good control of your breathing for it to be able to work. I dont know how she won. I think that was last for me. Cant see her making the Grand Final
I am quite sad and dissappointed, i really wanted MYDY or Elly to win…
I had to listen to her song again because I didn't remember her at all from the national final 😅. The song is okay-ish, leaning towards the bland side, I have to say. Very middle of the road, and uninteresting. I don't find anything particularly special in her song.
TBH she was my favorite in the studio version but after seeing the live she was my 3rd

It is such a good song, and if there's an improvement anything like Vesna's glow up (and why shouldn't there be?), then this could do well. Too many people are hating and spreading conspiracies. They need to touch grass.
We totally agree with you after we watched her performance, the girl can’t sing the song is lame lyrics and staging poor. She is not going to make it. Such a bad choice after the fantastic Vesna. An artistic suicide here…
I don’t understand how he can win with worst vocals, can’t hear what she was singing most of the time. Her voice is similar to Cranberries singer but not sure if her performance was technical issue or can’t be bothered attitude…
First Malta prevented Bewsa (the only interesting song) to get to Eurovision and now we lost MYDY which had way better live performance and song than the others. And got generic pop song with not-so-great skilled live singer instead (and its weird since Czechia voters would have sent Elly, which was better indeed, but international voters system disagreed). I always consider live performance more important than studio version and AIKO live was just...not good. And the song intself isn't good enought to save bad live performance.
Based on the about 4 countries we know all songs from already, i feel like this year is highly likely not going to be as great as 2023 or 2021 but more like 2022 with less interesting songs in average. I hope next country to release their song gives something more unique and striking than generic ballads or mediocre pop songs or i start getting depressed 😅.

I just watched the music video. not a fan. it's okay but not a winner in my eyes.
When I saw that she won I was like okay it's not Tom Sean (ROOTED FOR HIM :< ) , performance was messy , but song itself is not bad.
Then I read that she's ruzzian and like ... CZECHIA? RUZZIAN ARTIST?AGAIN?
Also for me it's a bit hypocritical to sing about woman empowerment, while being ruzzian , just my thoughts tho
Don't you think it's a bit racist to say someone is not deserving of empowerment and generalising them as "Z supporters" just because of their nationality?
In fact, I would actually argue it is more important for Russians to be empowered to finally overthrow their corrupt government. Many of my Russian friends, especially the younger ones, are completely opposed to the war, but can't risk speaking out or they will "mysteriously disappear".
@@DramaticTeacup Just cause she originated in Russia doesn't mean she has any emotional or political association with it. Her parents moved, we don't know why but they chose to leave Russia. Doesn't that count for anything?
Y'all expected a Melodifestivalen quality NF from a delegation that's given 5 euros and a pack of gum to put something together. I mean the national selection was broadcast on YT live. The quality was never going to be good. Go watch the live performances from the last year. They are just as bad vocally and production-wise.
I will say though that I do understand why people have a problem with the ratio. A conversation on shifting the ratio is totally valid. But, even if it were 50/50 Aiko still would have won. I also think the delegation sees the value of letting those outside of Czechia have a substantial say in who is selected. I mean those are the people voting for the song in the actual contest. Czechs can't vote for the Czech song.
Also, Czechs don't care about Eurovision. Even with all their success these past few years. Czechs for some reason still just don't care. To really put it in perspective for you guys. The total amount of votes coming from the Czech public was 42,710. If you go back to say the Finnish NF last year there were in total 231,968 votes collected from the Finnish public. Czechia has a population of 10.5 million. Finland has just over 5 million. But the Finnish NF got nearly 6 times as many votes from the their public as Czechia does. There were even more international votes in ESCZ this year than domestic. There were 54,929 international votes. Nearly 12k more votes than what came from Czech's themselves. In terms of Viewership Melodifestivalen last year had 3.68 million viewers. The Czech NF live stream maxed out at like 30k. Maybe you don't think it's fair to compare the two. But both nations have 10 million people. If Czech's cared the difference wouldn't be as large as it is. Heck more people watched the Eesti Laul launch show (98,000) where they announced the participants for this years contest than the amount of people who watched the Czech national selection. That's just how little Czechs care about this. Which is fine. I'm just saying that I don't think the delegation is totally misplaced in giving international voters more power. Becuase at the end of the day those voters help Czechia qualify and those are the voters that have given Czechia multiple top 10 finishes since they came back.
Also I have a genuine question for the MYDY fans who continue to claim this NF was rigged. Why aren't you also suspicious/upset with just how big the disparity between Elly and MYDY was in the domestic vote? Elly got 24k votes while MYDY only got 6k. That's about a ratio of 6 to 1. It's even worse when you look at the vote disparity between first and last. Like I said Elly got 24k votes. Gianna Lei got 372. That's means Elly got 66 votes for every 1 vote Gianna got. Even Tomas Robin only got a little over 700 votes for a song that wasn't much worse than Elly's. This isn't me saying that I disliked Elly's song. I like it but if you have a problem with the international vote disparity then you must take issue with the disparity in the domestic as well. Especially since I would argue that MYDY had a stronger vocal and performance than Elly did. If I were to do the same math for the international vote. Aiko got just over 33k votes. MYDY got just over 7200 votes. That's disparity ration of 4.5 to 1. Which is smaller than the disparity in the domestic vote between Elly and MYDY. Now lets compare Aiko to the song that got last in the international vote. The last place song got 1563 votes. Aiko got 22 votes for ever single vote that Tomas Robin got. That is a significantly smaller ratio between 1st and last than what we saw between Elly and Gianna in the domestic vote. So this argument that the international votes don't seem right doesn't really hold up when you see just how big the gap was in the domestic vote. Also to the MYDY fans. Y'all never had the votes from either the Czech voters nor the international voters. You placed 3rd with both. So stop being so sour and claiming the vote was rigged when amongst both groups MYDY was never the favorite and didn't have a shot to win regardless of whether Czech voters or International voters had more power.
Subjective nitpick but Elly was by far the strongest vocalist. Her song however was forgetful and bland especially if I can't even remember it now. Mydy was meh vocally, but stronger conceptually. Gianna was trash live - extremely off pitch and sounded terrible so I'm not surprised by the vote numbers. Domestically, I think they were going off of live vocal performance, whereas I wonder if the international audience were voting more based on studio track. Just a thought. 🤔

I was in complete agreement with all of your points. Thinking about it, I think the czech vote should've been prioritized over the international vote for ESCZ instead of the ratio it was. This is despite the fact that my choice winner was never going to win based off the results (Tomas Robin.)
Hi from the US. This is the first year Im really interested into Eurovision and the national finals (Norway's National final this past year got me into it at the end of national final season.)
My favourite was Aiko, and I fully agree. Had I known that (apparently?) my choice as a non-czech counted more in their own NF, I wouldn't have voted at all.
Im really sad and angry that Aiko won.
First, the song is not my type at all, it is some kind of alternative / indie rock song which is not suited for eurovision since it havent done good previous years. Just take Reddi - The Show for an example.
Second, the czech people didnt want Aiko, she was 5th out of 7 acts which makes it even more hillarious how she won. The czech people didnt send this, the international sent this for Czechia which doesnt make any sense at all. Elly got 24,000 votes by the czech people, which Aiko got 2,400 something. It is so bad how CT made the 70% of votes count for the international people.
Third, Aiko cant sing live. Her vocals are really weak and even worse when she dances at the same time. Aiko seems like a good person, no hate to her personally, but her voice is just not giving.
I will not support this entry next year since it wasn’t the Czech people who chose it.
Maybe I should watch the ESCZ. I have watched Mydy and some other performance. I think this had the best energy and is very straight forward and somewhat catchy. Mydy, whom many seem to cheer, well I find it perhaps too basic and the beginning of the song was lost in the mist. The song should have also been much more straight forward and gone straight to the electrodance part. Aiko's song is straight to the point and that is perhaps why that 2,5 minute song could be considered by far the best option for Czechia. But. I need to watch all the performances.
Ok. I watched all the entries and became more tricky. After seeing three of the performances I thought the judgement is right: Aiko is the best alternative. But this time, seeing all seven Mydy was quite even. Elly's song is still a bit too messy and non-progressive even if the song has four or five different tempos, the theme and the song is not progressing. Now I can't recall the names, but Dopamine Overdose quite decent. What happened to me seeing these all seven, none of the songs really stood out in any way, so what would happen in a public vote and jury votes, well it could go pretty much any way possible. This year's Vesna would have stood out in the selection for brining in different languages, ethnicity. Now all seem quite the same... What comes to Aiko's possibilities to succeed in ESC, I would agree with you. It is a bit matter of the improvement in the performance, vocally and on stage.
I was quite surprised with the results, Elly was clear favorite since she was 1st in Czechia and 2nd in International voting. And I think there were issues with counting votes since it's not really a 30/70 ratio🥲
Anyway, the song isn't that bad and I like it but I hope performance will improve at least if Czechia want to qualify.

I must be crying becouse Elly doesnt won, but im still happy... i guess, about aiko she had something interesting, its giving Average American teen song but overdosing Caffeine, she had a lot of work to do on the song and stuff
And i dont think she can Qualify, and if she do she might finish 20th or 10th
I am very happy that Aiko won. Mydy was my favourite performance, but "Pedestal" was my favourite song. She has a lot of time to work on the performance now and i believe in her and the czech delegation to improve it (in improved conditions).

It depends on how the vocals will sound in Eurovision and how the other songs sound. I would say NQ atm tho..
I loved the studio but I think mine and everyone else’s opinion changed on it after the nation final. I’m so surprised it won and to be honest this is the first time out of all the participants (i know it’s only second song) I think won’t qualify. With all the others I was confident they’d qualify but I don’t know about Aiko sorry :(

2/5, i do like the dark pop vibe of "Pedestal",but it's way too repetitive for my taste and Aiko's vocals were...questionable,to say the least.I highly doubt Czechia will qualify.
Like you said, in order to qualify, they need to improve the performance and vocals. Otherwise not. I'd say tho, the Czech entries always have this problem when it sounds good in the studio, but live is a mess. But somehow they get it together in Eurovision, so maybe it'd happen again. Anyways, I have faith in the Czech delegation. Because Eurovision isn't popular in the country, they always have to work harder to justify their place in the competition and create interest in the population. So, we'll see

Lol Opinions are subjective and everyone has different opinions. 🤷🏻♀️ We can all disagree with each other but no need to insult people. While I don't personally agree with some of his opinions on the past at least he tries to explain his opinion.
Very disappointed with her performance on NF. I completely agree with you that performance like this will for sure stay in the semi final. But of course that it's way too early for any conclusions and all can change. We have a very recent example from this year, semi 2 with Poland ("sure NQ") and Georgia ("sure qualifier, one of the favourites in semi 2") when we first heard these two. And we know how this ended. So, good luck Czechia🇨🇿, but this has to improve A LOT to be Q.
