i also thought mydy's performance last night was the best, and i actually quite like the 4 guys behind her giving the marching band feel. that being said, her singing the "beep beep beep" part made me laugh a bit hysterically - i hope she finds another way to get around that line lol
Honestly, MYDY lives in my head rent free now apparently. After the show it has been stuck in my head on a loop 😂 But honestly i think there is a lot of great potential here
Lenny was my favourite from the live performances but after listening to the studio cuts I ended up voting for Aiko. haha. her live performance was a bit awkward but I think it has potential to stand out at Eurovision depending on what everyone else is sending. I think if Aiko goes to Eurovision she needs to find a good balance between her life performance and the MV. She went like full out with her performance from start to finish and imo that kinda hurts the song, a really great part about it is the epic bulid up to the chorus and said chorus slapping hard. So if she dances and screams and all from the very start it kinda takes that away and also seems kinda messy, not to mention that it´s way more exhausting. I definitely love how much more energy she had than in the MV tho, like I said a good mix is important. (My random potential staging concept for her) This could also work staging wise. I picture her in a sort of gothic like dress in the first part of the song, with a atmospheric dark staging, all sung quite "calm" and "haunting" like in the MV, then during the first chorus, we could see her rock in the dress, after that the song progresses to be more and more crazy, she can have her screams, at the start of the second chorus dancers could come on the stage, they tear her dress off (new epic warrior like costume), pyro, etc. and all that gets more and more insane til the end of the song
yea thats the type of thing that she can definitely adjust quite easily. shes got loads of time to work on the concept etc. Last year their concept for Vesna was EXCELLENT
It feels like I need to judge and rank the selection on two different measures- the songs themselves in their studio cuts, and their live performances. Pedestal is the best song if you listen to the studio cuts, but red flag army had the best live performance. tough to call.
Yep I was the exact same. I actually cut out 10 mins of the analysis at the end cos it was so confusing how to mix the two. It totally depends what you are prioritising
Hey Tom, I had the pleasure to be present at the live event. Almost everyone sounded great live (except for Aiko and Gianna, those two were off). The best for me was Lenny, it sounded very impactful live (only song to give me goosbumps), Tom Sean was my 2nd favourite, super energetic. Sadly ČT got the sound mix absolutely wrong, when I got home I was utterly shocked cause live everything sounded great but on the recording they were awful. Happy you listened to studio versions, those are more representative.
yea, honestly everyone sounded bad on the stream, even We Are Domi. Lenny and Lake Malawi sounded the best. Its a little bit of a shame, I hope that the results arent affected cos of that

On one side I'm happy that I got to hear those live on the other hand I would fond of ESCZ like 2022 (where we had some live recordings, but only in some kind of studio with good sound), that was good to hear the vocals and it didn't hurt the quality of the song.
my first pick would be Tom Sean, my 2nd pick would be Lenny, though. Very impactful song and great vocals and lyrics, but Eurovoters really don't know, what's art and like messy stuff like Käärijäh, Let3, MYDY or Aiko, while nice songs like Love Of My Life never make it to Eurovision, and when the prettiest song gets chosen, its gonna flop at the contest (eg Power) or gets screwed by the televote (Systur, Amanda, s10, etc). And if messy and loud songs are (imho) more artsy, they don't like it either (Eaea, Fulenn, Edgar Allen Poe,Samo Mi Se Spava, etc)
I really like 4/7 songs Mydy and Tom Sean are my top 2 because the world needs some upbeat slaying music with a good hit of Dopamine 🙃🌏 Lenny and Aiko seal my top 4.
Really hoping for Mydy or Aiko to win. Those two are just right up my alley and I am already sad that we can't get to see both of these on the eurovision stage. Also, it is quite easy to vote multiple times in the voting... I really hope that the wrong people do not find that cause else it will be a bot fest.

Honestly, voting without any kind of registration is always problematic, so it's probably best to hope that nobody with malicious intent finds a weak point.
I'm a sucker for a good EDM so Tomas Robin is one of my winners and the man seemed very nice too. But majority of my votes went to MYDY because they were the best live and have great potential.
The studio versions all sounds so much better than the live ones! I votes for MYDY after the live show, and honestly felt like it was the only decent song, but hearing the studio versions, I'm actually loving most of these! Yes, her vocals at ESCZ may not have been the best, but she has 5 months to combine her vocals with her dancing (which was very good for me). Aiko can sing well and her song has a lot of potential. You may think that most of the songs were not well sung. I'd like to tell you something. It was the production. Everyone who performed tonight can sing live. But what the Czech Eurovision team is doing with their REALLY LOW BUDGET is something everyone should appreciate. Yes, they could simply decide and choose the song for us. But they are trying very hard to develop Eurovision in our country even with the help of the national final. There are countries where Eurovision is in the first place (Iceland, Sweden), they also have a huge budget and they decide on the participation in the next edition after the previous one. Then there are countries like the Czech Republic where Eurovision is not so successful yet, they don't have a big budget and because of that they have to decide on participation at the last minute. That's why you can't ask the Czech Republic for NF on the level of Melodifestivalen etc. The Czech Republic is trying very hard to develop their format and they are succeeding. They have gone from only online selection based on video clips to live TV NF in a few years (yes this year's ESCZ was broadcast live on CT). Yeah, apparently the audio on CT was actually quite good so I don’t understand why there was a difference between that and the audio on UA-cam. Apparently everyone who was in Roxy said that the audio sounded really good there and they all had an amazing time, so it’s weird that there’s such a difference between that and the UA-cam feed
I like Aiko's Pedestal a lot. It will be on my regular playlist for sure. And I liked it live (although it wasn't perfect). Mydy is also cool, studio version is very catchy, but their live performance was a mess for me. I am sure they can improve till May. I will be happy with both, voted for Aiko.
I dont think any of these songs will set Eurovision on fire. B+ across the board. Mydy had the best performance and would probably to best in the televote while Lenny is the jury pleaser.
I disagree with basing the vote on the studio version. At the end of the day, being able to sing live is very important. Pre-parties happen and we start to realize that a singer can't hold a note live, like what happened with the UK or the Netherlands last year. Sorry not sorry.
Would it be awesome if, for Mydy’s revamp for when the song dips after a while, they added some awesome cultural elements to keep it alive? I think it could work! Also Vesna was my number one last year, if you didn’t realize LOL ❤.

I'm gonna vote for Aiko, because none of the songs had the blow me away factor, but I think with the experience of the Czech delegation and a revamp it has the highest ceiling of how good the song could be at Eurovision. Otherwise I like Mydy, but there's something that irks me about the singer going "beep beep beeeeep"
I voted for Mydy with the hope of a major revamp. It's the song I had the most fun listening to, but the live was kinda rough around the edges and some of the lyrics need work. Like please replace "beep beep beep" with anything else dear god!

I voted for Dopamine overdose last night and now listening your video Aiko, Lenny and Mydy also made their mark. Aiko was such a screamer on the stage. I know DO is quite a save option but its beat was recognisable on stage version. Mydy would probably be fun in the end... Aiko could also be refreshing if she tones down the shouty bits.
I voted for Elly, but I’d be also okay if Mydy won! My only big fear for Elly if she did win would be people writing her song off as Tattoo 2.0 and not doing well because of it.
i don't think it's similar enough to be branded as a tattoo copy+her voice and stage presense feel entirely different to me. Elly was my favorite of the night. I think, like tattoo, it has the potential for an anthem vibe in the arena, but we'll see.
I have only heard the songs here, so I haven't listened to any live performances... Judging by the quality of song and uniqueness and voice, my choices would be Ellie and Aiko.
Lenny probably has both the best as well as the most conventional song for the contest, making it also an immediate candidate for non-qualifying in Malmö. It is not better than Belgium's The Wrong Place from 2021. The men did well enough but Robin's song is not better than Cyprus last year, while Sean's song won't improve much vocally (remember Malta last year?). Among the safe options only Elly is left, but did not really convince live. The two most outspoken candidates left are Aiko and Mydy, out of which I am as of this week a fan of Mydy, however, for entertainment purposes, Aiko will perform her guts out on stage and thus has the highest potential to either hit the top in the televote (say, 200 points) or not qualify at all. Remember that Switzerland in 2018 didn't qualify with Stones. Same risk goes for Mydy, but at least the staging ideas are already there and they work. Also, I feel confident that Mydy will have the least amount of issues in the preparty season if they are that confident in an environment that wasn't favourable to any of the artists. It's sad for Gianna to have claimed 7th place in three minutes time, but someone has to.
Personally I think Elly could have a great stage and it could qualify either way easy. Mydy is alright I’m not a huge fan of it I think it looses it’s magic for the 2nd half and Czechia will not do revamp for sure. With a good staging I think they can also qualify as well. Tomas Robin I think would be a good and safe choice we saw similar things in the past they all qualified and finished on the mix, and I think for Czechia the most important to keep the qualification record positive. Anyway I believe that it cannot go wrong if they choose any of those 3. The Czech delegation is always working their ass off when it comes to staging. Anyway I support Czechia Let’s go 🇨🇿💙

I tuned in ready to vote for Elly, then I saw Lenny perform & nearly changed my mind. In neither case was it strategic thinking: I just like the songs & thought they were the best vocally. Do they still have an international jury? I remember one for 2022 but I wasn't paying attention last year 😕

im guessing it’s just me but elly is a massive stand out to me. such a bop and with some improved vocals and interesting staging i could definitely see it qualifying. mydy may have the alternative look to them (which would catch peoples attention) but the song is just bland in my opinion, i could just see it pulling a denmark 2022 if it goes to eurovision. tom sean would be my second place but even at that i’m not sure if i’d see it qualifying when it comes to semis
I think my problem with escz not releasing the songs before the live show is because the production and sound design of the national finals just isn't very good. So you have good songs like Pedestal being ruined by a shotty mic causing her vocals to dip in and out. If they want to do a live show than fine. But because the production quality isn't super high they need to give people a chance hear the studio versions before as well before. They did this last year as well with Vesna and Pam Rabbit. They both had good studio cuts of their songs. But with the live performances their vocals sounded really really bad. Either up the quality of the live show or release the songs prior to it.
I was so looking forward to this selection Tom....... Oh dear, no passions stirred in me at all after the show last night. Aesthetically, MYDY wins this hands down. They look great and sounded great but the song just seems lyrically inept to me Song-wise and vocally-wise Lenny is my definite winner. She sounded fantastic live. However, a bare qualification seems to be the maximum that this could achieve. Hope I'm not being overly harsh but Prague 2025 seems to be a no no! 😭😭😭
I wouldn't count Prague 2025 out yet. As Tom mentioned Vesna didn't have a great start with live shows and there final performance was amazing! Easy Qualify and top10. I think these songs are all quite memorable and unique. They could really stand out on the eurovision stage. Honestly anything can happen we just have to wait and see when they select and how they shake out with the rest of the competition. It's too early to give up hope!! 😊
I watched the entire show and i was so massively underwhelmed! Even the presenter was sleep inducing. Out of the direness, my favourite by absolutely miles was Mydy. Their song is so catchy, commanding and would stage incredibly well. I can just imagine the incredible lights and the energy at the Eurovision stage. The next one i think that could do well is Elly, but again im struggling with getting bored.
We can talk about how bad the production was, but it was miles ahead of Malta's. Someone said it somewhere but I think Ireland and other countries that don't have a big budget should take note.
after watching the performances which really didnt help anybody I think Mydy has the most potential for eurovision. About the national final I dont know about the money issues but out of the three last czech national finals the Domi one was the best produced in my opinion. Like I said I dont think the performances brought anything forward
Not impressed with this selection (much better last year). I only like Aiko's song...very cheeky with her performance; vocals a car crash but it can improve.
as a Czech, im little bit dissapointed. Mydy song has maneskin (i wanna be slave) similiarity and other songs are radio songs. Nothing special this year.
These music videos are all pretty decent but that live show was disappointing. My criteria for 2024 is that I want good vocals so that leaves little choice. I dont care much for the red flag song but it may be Czechias only choice.. or Good Enough based on the live though Im not sold either could qualify. I think my choice would be to risk it on the pedestal girl because with some work I can actually see that song qualify to the finals.

I'm gonna vote for Aiko, because none of the songs had the blow me away factor, but I think with the experience of the Czech delegation and a revamp it has the highest ceiling of how good the song could be at Eurovision.
Otherwise I like Mydy, but there's something that irks me about the singer going "beep beep beeeeep"

Pedestal may be great, but that live performance was horrendous. When I thought it couldn't get any worse, Starlet decided to introduce hersef.
I voted for Mydy with the hope of a major revamp. It's the song I had the most fun listening to, but the live was kinda rough around the edges and some of the lyrics need work. Like please replace "beep beep beep" with anything else dear god!
Elly & Tom Sean are my favorites
I'm hoping for either Mydy or Aiko to win, although Elly and Tomas Robin aren't bad choices either, with some revamps, wll 4 of them could qualify, but I don't see a Top 10 contender.
I voted for Dopamine overdose last night and now listening your video Aiko, Lenny and Mydy also made their mark. Aiko was such a screamer on the stage. I know DO is quite a save option but its beat was recognisable on stage version. Mydy would probably be fun in the end... Aiko could also be refreshing if she tones down the shouty bits.
I wonder if Aiko was purposefully going wilder because she felt she had to make an impression going first?

Frankly, they all were nice songs, very easy to listen to but not one of them has stuck with me. Perhaps, after a revamp...
I voted for Elly, but I’d be also okay if Mydy won! My only big fear for Elly if she did win would be people writing her song off as Tattoo 2.0 and not doing well because of it.
i don't think it's similar enough to be branded as a tattoo copy+her voice and stage presense feel entirely different to me. Elly was my favorite of the night. I think, like tattoo, it has the potential for an anthem vibe in the arena, but we'll see.

I have only heard the songs here, so I haven't listened to any live performances... Judging by the quality of song and uniqueness and voice, my choices would be Ellie and Aiko.

Aiko was announced this morning....
Lenny probably has both the best as well as the most conventional song for the contest, making it also an immediate candidate for non-qualifying in Malmö. It is not better than Belgium's The Wrong Place from 2021. The men did well enough but Robin's song is not better than Cyprus last year, while Sean's song won't improve much vocally (remember Malta last year?). Among the safe options only Elly is left, but did not really convince live. The two most outspoken candidates left are Aiko and Mydy, out of which I am as of this week a fan of Mydy, however, for entertainment purposes, Aiko will perform her guts out on stage and thus has the highest potential to either hit the top in the televote (say, 200 points) or not qualify at all. Remember that Switzerland in 2018 didn't qualify with Stones. Same risk goes for Mydy, but at least the staging ideas are already there and they work. Also, I feel confident that Mydy will have the least amount of issues in the preparty season if they are that confident in an environment that wasn't favourable to any of the artists. It's sad for Gianna to have claimed 7th place in three minutes time, but someone has to.
Personally I think Elly could have a great stage and it could qualify either way easy. Mydy is alright I’m not a huge fan of it I think it looses it’s magic for the 2nd half and Czechia will not do revamp for sure. With a good staging I think they can also qualify as well. Tomas Robin I think would be a good and safe choice we saw similar things in the past they all qualified and finished on the mix, and I think for Czechia the most important to keep the qualification record positive. Anyway I believe that it cannot go wrong if they choose any of those 3. The Czech delegation is always working their ass off when it comes to staging. Anyway I support Czechia Let’s go 🇨🇿💙

I tuned in ready to vote for Elly, then I saw Lenny perform & nearly changed my mind. In neither case was it strategic thinking: I just like the songs & thought they were the best vocally.
Do they still have an international jury? I remember one for 2022 but I wasn't paying attention last year 😕

@@ESCTom from what I've seen hes a "Irish influencer" and if you are mixed then Google normally puts both on so im guessing he is fully Irish that just wants to compete for a competitive country
im guessing it’s just me but elly is a massive stand out to me. such a bop and with some improved vocals and interesting staging i could definitely see it qualifying. mydy may have the alternative look to them (which would catch peoples attention) but the song is just bland in my opinion, i could just see it pulling a denmark 2022 if it goes to eurovision. tom sean would be my second place but even at that i’m not sure if i’d see it qualifying when it comes to semis
I think my problem with escz not releasing the songs before the live show is because the production and sound design of the national finals just isn't very good. So you have good songs like Pedestal being ruined by a shotty mic causing her vocals to dip in and out. If they want to do a live show than fine. But because the production quality isn't super high they need to give people a chance hear the studio versions before as well before. They did this last year as well with Vesna and Pam Rabbit. They both had good studio cuts of their songs. But with the live performances their vocals sounded really really bad. Either up the quality of the live show or release the songs prior to it.

Aesthetically, MYDY wins this hands down. They look great and sounded great but the song just seems lyrically inept to me
Song-wise and vocally-wise Lenny is my definite winner.
She sounded fantastic live. However, a bare qualification seems to be the maximum that this could achieve.
Hope I'm not being overly harsh but Prague 2025 seems to be a no no!

I wouldn't count Prague 2025 out yet. As Tom mentioned Vesna didn't have a great start with live shows and there final performance was amazing! Easy Qualify and top10. I think these songs are all quite memorable and unique. They could really stand out on the eurovision stage. Honestly anything can happen we just have to wait and see when they select and how they shake out with the rest of the competition. It's too early to give up hope!! 😊

I watched the entire show and i was so massively underwhelmed! Even the presenter was sleep inducing.
Out of the direness, my favourite by absolutely miles was Mydy. Their song is so catchy, commanding and would stage incredibly well. I can just imagine the incredible lights and the energy at the Eurovision stage.
The next one i think that could do well is Elly, but again im struggling with getting bored.
I'm convinced the presenter was high as a kite. Maybe on meds. Clocked that within ten seconds, and it only got more obvious 💀
For me, it's definitely Tom Sean. But I'm afraid, MYDY is gonna win anyway. Or Elly.

We can talk about how bad the production was, but it was miles ahead of Malta's. Someone said it somewhere but I think Ireland and other countries that don't have a big budget should take note.
after watching the performances which really didnt help anybody I think Mydy has the most potential for eurovision. About the national final I dont know about the money issues but out of the three last czech national finals the Domi one was the best produced in my opinion. Like I said I dont think the performances brought anything forward

Not impressed with this selection (much better last year). I only like Aiko's song...very cheeky with her performance; vocals a car crash but it can improve.
as a Czech, im little bit dissapointed. Mydy song has maneskin (i wanna be slave) similiarity and other songs are radio songs. Nothing special this year.
Nothing groundbreaking here. Aiko is the best on the album version. Mostly okay or quite off putting live.
These music videos are all pretty decent but that live show was disappointing. My criteria for 2024 is that I want good vocals so that leaves little choice. I dont care much for the red flag song but it may be Czechias only choice.. or Good Enough based on the live though Im not sold either could qualify. I think my choice would be to risk it on the pedestal girl because with some work I can actually see that song qualify to the finals.

I'm pretty underwhelmed by all these entries. Mydy has stage presence but what a snoozer song. And what a bad idea to enter a song that you have to censor the chorus for the ESC audience.
