What I really like about Neil is that he tells you both the good and the bad about any product, love the honesty but not a good trait for a salesman trying to move product. :)
I love these implements. I’ve seen tractor time with Tim use his many times and think they’re awesome. I wish you could rent these! I need one for a week but can’t justify spending $10,000 to buy one. Every tractor dealership should rent these in their fleet
It'd be good if they did. One thing I wish Baumalight could use to improve the attachment is making it quick-hitch compatible. The 1p24 stump grinder already is.
I think the issue a a rental store would be the teeth. You know how everything you rent is dull? This machine has about $900 worth of teeth on it if there are 60 of them. They say 3 rotations, my experience has been 2. They can usually be sharpened a couple times. Unless you have rocks... too many variables for a rental unit I would think.
The one time I used one of these I was highly advised to have a loader on the tractor and keep the bucket down and angled as a deflector to keep things from being shot too far directly out from under the front. Does also mean that you need to pay attention so that you're not just dragging a chip pile with the loader however.
thanks for sharing this video it would really help if the operator was double jointed in his neck I would like to see a front PTO driven tractor uses piece of equipment
Note the skid pad on the left front of the implement (couldn't see from this video if there is also a skid pad on the right front of the implement but assume so). There does not appear to be any skid pads on the rear of the implement. Tells me the manufacturer expects this implement to be used driving forward and not in reverse. If I bought one I would fabricate a guard on the machine itself to deflect flying debris down towards the ground. Something similar to what most rotary mowers have on their front and/or rear. Thanks for the useful review. Much appreciated.
@@yourchava agreed, I think it'd probably end up that a hammer flail is better finish wise for most stuff under 3" and this can power through stuff up to 5" but at the cost of a nice finish
Why? Front three point hitch ańd pto 👍🏽. My wery old Kubota B7100D has a front frame (lift and turn) and a pto for snowblower use. But yes, I know about reversing hours a day at work plowing snow between houses with a blade behind the tractor (Valmet/Valtra 365). Kubota is nice, but I would really like a Fendt 211...
I think your neck would take the most abuse..I would just put a loader on the front and drive forward with bucket low so any rocks etc would be discovered.
@@mattman6759 One thing could be a little unpleasant though. It could throw rocks and stuff up on the driver. In this configuration the bigger wheels in the back and the large axle/transmission shields the driver a little more. Or so I think anyways... And then there is the question regarding the front axle load. The stress on the frame/axle could need a "thougher" tractor?
Cant say I am any more convinced this thing would do any better a job than a quality brush hog (at least for 99.8% of clearing). Only a brush hog would not make me cry after hitting the countless granite rocks hiding among the brush the way those fragile (overpriced) carbides would.
I run over 2" saplings with my 48" flail mower on a B2301 without any problems. Might be a bit slower than this thing, but it works and was only 1700 bucks.
I've been considering one of these...it seems like something you'd use a whole bunch at first, and then sparingly thereafter. I'd say it would be something to rent, but no one has them to rent (and the rental places near me suck anyway. It's 45 miles to a decent rental yard).
Looks nice, I’ll say two things based on my experience. Be very careful of flying debris - wear safety glasses or better - a cab. Also, I might be getting old but about 20 minutes of looking behind me and it’s no longer a fun job. That said, these are very nice for cleaning things up.
Short answer is it is possible. You can use this on small standing trees that can be sucked under the tractor and pushed at good speed to the front of the tractor. It is a great machine. We have the 348 and I would recommend them.
Neil thanks for the videos! Keeping them basic helps a lot of new tractor owners like myself. MX5400 Hydro trans. If you get time could you touch on foam filled tires?
We've got a mulcher where I work. I can not remember the brand name of it for the life of me. We put it on a Cat 299D2 two speed skid steer with a I believe a 15,000 pound warn winch on the back of the machine. It sounds like you are tearing the world up when you cut down a small tree with it. Edit: mulcher is a Denis.
Does any company make skid plates for tractors? Not just the little BX series. I've seen some for them. I am looking for plates for L3800 & L6060. Seems that would be a nice add on feature for Kubota to make. Either Polly or steal.
@@MessicksEquip When you work in the woods like I do, 70 acres you would most likely think twice about that and probable reassess your thinking. Believe me sticks can get up into the impeller easily!!! Even with 15" clearance.
I was surprised to see the difference between a hydrostat and a gear driven transmission. But what about tractors that have the power reverser or in Kubota language I believe it's called the GST? Also on a hydrostat I have seen tractors get overheated when doing heavy brush cutting and the gear driven don't have near the issues of getting too hot.
Would it be possible to install a series of heavy drop chains on the discharge side of the mulcher? It would seem like an easy way to protect the underside of the tractor.
The LX he got from Neil runs the little brother of this machine (MP348) very well. Ballast wise he did have the loader on, but a grapple in place of the bucket.
@@MessicksEquip I gotcha..I just know ppl that use those fecon forestry heads and they been unnerved by some o the debris that bad boy has slung at em...

It would be cool if United Rentals. Sunbelt or other had these..they would probably spend alot of time in for repairs from people hitting rocks etc.

Careful on right of ways. I cleared those and older lines not always marked. Could cause you some big money. Just stay safe. Walk first
Tractor Time with Tim has several videos of the mulcher in action.
I'd be interested to see a side by side comparison in the same test area between this and a flail mower with heavy hammer knives
i would as well
heavy hammer flails are beast for sure,
@@yourchava agreed, I think it'd probably end up that a hammer flail is better finish wise for most stuff under 3" and this can power through stuff up to 5" but at the cost of a nice finish
Won't take long operating in reverse before your back gets torn up from being twisted around like that. A swivel seat would be nice.
Yeah I wonder if there's anyway to have a seat that you can work from the side or something. So you don't have to twist your body so much to look back

Bom trabalho, ótimo conteúdo. Fiquei surpreso com a faca circular e as 1800 rotações. Parabéns

i was thinking the same. i run over 3" trees with my $250 bush hog i found on marketplace lol
That's not a mulcher. I would want one to chew up piles of brush and wood, left over tops from logging, etc, into chips

That's a lot of little bits for such an awesome implement. 🤣
Good demo Neil, I'm just wondering if it's possible catching something hard if that mulcher can throw a object through the tire under pressure. 🤔

You can easily puncture a tire with the right piece of wood. Have done so.

Those things are awesome..
when did Mac from Always sunny get into tractors?
Zombie apocalypse will require the track loader version.
Your neck will hurt quickly operating this implement.
Stupid question.
Would it be helpful or even practical to swivel the seat 90 deg to the right?
Some tractors swing 20 degrees, not this one though.
im from florida, any idea if this is good for shredding up saw palmetto?

Not for the bigger tractors, the undersides are pretty rugged.

Dude, where is the eye and hearing protection?
Will it work on my mf 282 tractor non hydro static ? Thanks
Can you not put guards on mulcher that drop down rather then modify tractor

you going to give a tour of the new place? nice looking implement
When we are moved in.
It will cost a small fortune to replace all those carbide teeth and sharpening them will take an age. No sure you mentioned that!

Gst would have the same issues, moves too fast. Overheating a hydro is very uncommon, this is very easy work for it.

Does not help much, some. Have tried heavy rubber wears away.
I Would love to see one attached to a 28hp tractor
Are those green teeth stump grinder teeth on the drum?
green teeth H3000
Neil, you need to do videos about Tim trying to do nothing but negative videos about the tractor he bought from you.
I don't watch most of Tim's stuff. Was there much besides his silly obsession with a 30hp tractor not fitting a CV joint PTO shaft?
It's not Tim's fault the 2038 is a superior machine :P
The LX he got from Neil runs the little brother of this machine (MP348) very well. Ballast wise he did have the loader on, but a grapple in place of the bucket.
@@RCPSU4 A roller fabbed to the trailing edge also works well. Esp in more bare soil.
Haven’t seen this used on anything other than table flat land.

I watched the whole video to see how it did with the woody stuff and sticks and you never showed it
I think I would have designed the tooth holders in a helical pattern instead of a straight line axially.
They are offset
I know you are the expert, but don't you need safety glasses?
I was going to suggest the same thing.
Make sure you wear your PPE especially safety glasses?
Guys running ballistic glass in their ctl's...I can see some fatalities with this setup...cool concept tho but with an open statio?..damn
It's actually much better. I feel much better running this than a CTL.

I could do that with my John Deere mx6 show it actually cutting something!

You need to wear eye protection since you are always looking backwards
I'd wear face shield, hard hat, and ear protection.
You and the weed are high huh? Lol.
