Horrible, horrible, horrible parenting. Those sons are a complete disgrace. Any guy who disrespects his own mother will grow up to be a low-life loser.
Like their father.
But as the episode goes on, you see she’s not great either. It’s a dysfunctional family.
@@imalwaysright The woman is just as bad -I think the Dad is the most wide awake here as to the dog...I wonder if she is still there, or is in a dog shelter and re-adopted. {This is an old video}

Apparently she wants kids and she wants a dog. But is she able to care for any of them?
Nobody else wants the dog so she's not being responsible.
The person who wants the dog has to lead.
@@jamisojo Upsetting thing is those kids are old enough to be parents now. They've probably messed yet another generation up

Absolutely. It seems no one wanted him to begin with. The dog needs a new home like yesterday.

This mentality that "dogs should be chained to a pole outside" really tells you everything you need to know about a person.
Indeed and then when he said that it would be over if they just let the god starve and dehydrate and then Barry it really pissed me off the most because I used to have a golden retriever but he died years ago from an allergic reaction to my cat we just thought he was allergic to something else not the cat till it was to late I was devastated it took me 6 years to get over his death to get another dog

@@sanscestmultishipper8614 This man is also in the place of loss of a beloved dog, and it took you years to get over yours. You of all people should understand his loss and unwillingness to bond with a new animal just yet.
There was a home that was pretty upscale on a main road in my hometown that had a dog tied up in the front yard. A big overgrown cocker spanial that was out in all weather. He had worn a circle around the tree. I was a little kid, and it bothered me so much.
The dog has to go hungry but obviously no one else in that family does.
The son needed subtitles because his neck was too thick and it made it hard to understand him....
Very politely put.

This episode has a nice example of how dog training usually goes. The family want Victoria to teach their dog to stop running out of the house at night. Victoria tells them to close their doors at night.
People like this are why I say people should have to pass a test and get a license to own a pet... and kids for that matter. Or better yet treat adopting a pet just like you would adopting a child. Do all the classes, paperwork, home checks, background checks. All of it. Make damn sure that animal is going to the right people.
YES. YES. YES.
I agree 100%. But that seems so impossible in my country...
Or just stop allowing people to enslave animals? Maybe have a little respect for humans and animals and stop forcing them to share close quarters and then be shocked with the inevitable chaos. Just a thought.
The problem is that theres not enough people or resources to do all these checks, and theres too many animals in the shelters to be extremely picky for every single ones home, i completely agree tho, i hope that happens in the future
I agree. Seems like it's impossible now but I hope it's possible in the future! That everyone fixes their pets and shelters are no longer too overcrowded, that they can afford to be more thorough.
Ita sad how such good dogs are seen as "aweful" and "hopeless" because people fail to put in the effort to let them succeed
I know, right? And at 1:54 Chet calls his dog the R word, which is a derogatory slur towards people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Back then, it was used as a medical term, but now we call them intellectually disabled.
The older they get, the hardest is to train a dog, specially a large one. Golden Retriever are one of the friendlies dog breeds, but they require a lot of training.
I do hate when any animal owner have a healthy animal that clearly is neglected & they called their animal "retarder" or "mentally disable", because the neglected or not trained animals doesn't do what they want.
I love how Chet's starting out as the guy who's clearly an issue, and as soon as Victoria shows her muscles and shows that she means freaking business, he's the one who's the most interested and animated of the lot.
How much do you have to fail, in order for a golden retriever to become a nightmare?
Best Comment Award!!!
I think they are energetic, i know a family who had one & she was a huge trouble maker. Golden Retriever are super friendly, but they do require proper training. Labradors & Golder Retrievers can become a nightmare without proper training.
You'd be surprised the amount of dog attack cases that Goldens have
This comment wins 😂 the definition of a good dog turns into a “nightmare “
THATS WHAT IM SAYINNN
"she's set in her ways" he says about a literal puppy 🙄
In my experience dogs are nerver set in their ways. I trained our labrador at 10 years old to walk without a leash. Adult dogs and senior dogs are perfectly capable of learning!!
@@essi.z8583 oh i agree! i just thought it was especially ridiculous of this man to say that about a puppy.
@@essi.z8583
Guess that debunks the whole “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” statement.
Victoria is the GOAT. I hate it how people ask for her help, and when she offers solutions they make excuses and don’t cooperate.
mostly because they expect her to fix their dog. Not having to put any actual effort into it.
I completely disagreed with Victoria giving this family another chance, when this poor dog was so mistreated. I have never seen an episode that made me so infuriated with how bad the poor pet was mistreated before. She desperately needed to be rehomed. 😢
Maybe they had _cutthroat lawyers._
I feel like they definitely would've gotten another dog to "try again" afterwards, though. :(
They probably would've just blamed the dog for all the issues and repeat the process with a different dog. :(
Fair, but it is a tv show after all. They probably played a lot of it up for the drama, especially in the editing
I think she was right in giving them a second chance. Chet proved to be a decent human being. People are often too quick to judge others. I trust Victoria's instinct, she genuinely cares for dogs and wants to improve their lives.
@@antoinettenovella1630Exactly Chet was the only one. Despite that he was the most vocal at the start that he disliked the dog he was the one who took the most responsibility for her. He made the mistake many of us humans make. He was resentful towards his family because he didn’t want the responsibility of a dog and he knew his family wouldn’t take care of a dog either. And he was resentful his feelings were overlooked. And Chet seemed to take the frustrations out on the dog. But he realized with Victoria coming in that villianizing the innocent dog because he didn’t want to get attached to her or be angry at his family was wrong. And it was great to see that bond.
The irony of this sad story is that the one that was the most vocal that he didn’t want a dog in the house. Is the only one who took accountability for the poor dog. It didn’t excuse his previous actions and neglect. But he made clear he knew the dog coming around was a bad idea because he knew the wife and kids wouldn’t take care of her. It was actually sweet to see the one most against the dog in the beginning be the one who built the best relationship with her and took care of her after.
I had a feeling he was all bluster and bluff. It’s the New Jersey tough guy is really just a marshmallow thing. Lol
Not an excuse, but a reason-he was so grief stricken when he lost his last dog that he couldn’t bear going through that again. Hopefully Snooki will grow him into a better and stronger person now that he’s let her in
The irony is pets are supposed to be an opportunity to develop responsibility and the whole family passed the buck to him, which doesn't surprise me one bit
Yes i agree and one son is discovering how to be bonded with a dog. The other son who bought the dog pfffff
@@annepettit3855that’s what i’m saying. the whole family are inadequate pet owners and chet KNEW that going into this. that’s why he was being so detached from the dog (not excusing his behavior at ALL) you could see that he knew his family would end up getting the poor thing killed if someone didn’t intervene. is he a good person? no not really. but out of ALL of them that dog is going to love and trust him the most bc he’s the only one who seems to be CAPABLE of making a real genuine connection with her and the only one that will end up giving a damn about her.
This episode was heartbreaking to me because I encountered this with our family dog. I was a kid. The dog was most bonded to me. Entire family was apathetic about her and pinned her training on me, but I had no idea what was I doing. I was all alone in it. They wanted to get rid of her but she had some biting tendencies, fear aggression, and very obvious pit bull features in her--she'd be put down if she was in the shelter, so I wanted to keep her. I tried to train her. She would listen to me, but no one else tried to learn how to train her so she wouldn't listen to them and they wouldn't listen to me because I was a kid and I didn't know how to voice what I was thinking. She was euthanized. I don't think they knew exactly how much I loved her. But I miss her, and I still feel bitter about losing her every now and then because she was an amazing, sweet dog. It was nice to see Snooki get a chance.
💔 If only the adults in your family knew more! It sounds like you did the best you could as a child, and gave the family dog the best quality of life she could have had under those circumstances. She would have had her best experiences with you. ❤️🩹 ❤

Other issues aside: it bothers me SO MUCH when people try to walk powerful, untrained dogs in flip flops! You need comfortable, safe shoes to keep up with a dog like this; you cant be shuffling down the sidewalk trying to keep your shoes on!

Man, I’m so thankful I was given nice loving parents as opposed to the “Life sucks, grow some balls kid” types of parents like these
And their pattens and dysfunction gets passed on through the generation. You can see how the children are.
it’s ironic how the one who brought the dog in and wanted her originally is the one who ended up not making any progress with taking care of her. I loved seeing every other member of the family change for the better, especially Chet!
What a family! That dog would actually be better off in a shelter and I don’t say that lightly…
Even stray life is better than this family.
It's a shame you can't get training for disrespectful kids!! 😒
You can, sort of. It's called family therapy.
Some parenting might help! I was a permissive parent of one, because I could be and was raised a bit that way. My only big rules were truth and honesty. I told her as a young kid that if she got in trouble or knew she did something wrong that she should come to me to talk about it and that she wouldn't be in trouble with me. However, if I got a call from another parent or the school, or if she lied, she would be in big trouble. Her whole childhood had one minor bus incident and she went against my advice once as a preteen (she told me a decade later), lol. Kids at least want to know you care! So do doggies.
This kids are a nightmare.
Sooo pampered with an easy life.
The modern life i guess.
They have so much weight too. That makes them sluggish, tired.

Moving from one chair to another whilst eating is about all this family can manage.
I deleted my previous comment after watching the end. I hope the family stuck to improvements and that Snookie is actually safe now, but very weary. I wish we had a current update!
Younger son is hopeless.....
The Trip to the fire department was brilliant. They saw Snooki's potential with training. This may have been a turning point for Chet who is training to be a volunteer fireman. I saw a difference in him watching Micha. Chet is the one who stepped up to train Snooki. He can have a nice relationship with Snooki.
It was Joe, the son, who was training with the fire department. (Small slip, easily done. 😊) But, yes! I fully agree!

i love how Victoria teaches the dog but also somewhat teaches the owners too
i think you got it backwards
I hope this is a joke lmao, but for your info: A dog trainer isn't there to train the dog (except for programs like board and train). Dog trainers teach the owners about dog behavior and show them how to train their dog themselves.

Ugh I hate those "You can't do it but I can!" people...
It was never about actually liking the dog at all, but his possession. It was about his pride. No one's gonna take away his possession. Sure he doesn't like the possession anyway. But the important thing is the "win" against the people trying to take them away.

This episode made me cry, I love retriever breeds more then anything and this got to me had to hug my lab for a while.
The dog should be rehomed
The man doesn't want a dog, it is difficult to force a pet on someone. A family should sit together, talk about the pros and cons of getting pet and it is essential to be realistic in what it takes to have a pet.
Exactly!!
Yes, a dog should be a family decision, a very serious decision.
Agreed, but it absolutely does not excuse his mistreatment and neglect of the dog.
Yes! When not everyone in the family wants to help and put work in a dog, then don’t get one, it’s that simple. There are plenty of other animals like cats that are easier when it comes to training and how much you need to do for them.
The youngest son bought the dog and quickly got over it 6:04
This family doesn’t
deserve this sweet dog, she deserves someone who would care for her spend d time with her and have fun with her , she seems like a very sweet dog.
I'm just gonna say: THIS IS THE BEST HUMAN TRAINER/ DOG HERO ON EARTH! she shows so much care to poor Snooki and is sure to stand her ground! I love this video! sorry it's a late comment
I really don't think Victoria should have left the dog in the home. She should have explained that they were clearly in over their heads and helped them get the dog rehomed. Raise your hand if you think the family kept up with this long term. This family is messed up on so many levels. The dog is the least of their problems but also the one suffering the most.
The dog was healthy though so animal control wouldn't have been able to take her and she didn't look neglected, she wasn't emaciated and all her fur is still there.

I am 13 years old and was blessed last year with my very own German Sherperd puppy Purdy, I paid for her with my own savings and have trained her myself with few tips from family ! I was 12 when I got her, it's such a shame to see people like this not take responsibility for training, feeding, walking etc. Its also gets to me when I'm out with her and adults walk all over me about purdy as they see themselves as higher up as they are older. like if Purdy goes to see them, pulls me on the lead a bit or whatever they can pick on me for they will! its super annoying. I also get people who take the mick by petting her without asking and stuff like that, luckily Purdy is not aggressive and is a fuss-pot but if she wasn't and bit them i could have her took off of me. People seriously need to get a grip and think about their actions. God bless this pup and Victoria, she always does such a wonderful job
Congratulations on your dog! ❤ I'm so proud of you 💐
I'm sorry that the adults are disrespectful to you. Keep on Training Purdy 💕 and do your best to be consistent with training and with letting other people know what's okay and what isn't.

Oh I hated the whole family in this episode so much. No offense, but they seem to have something else dysfunctional going on behind the scenes and the dog is the least of their problems.
Like what kind of people goes in and out of the house during the early hours after midnight with the front doors wide open like that?
Chaos ruled there. I don't think they realized you don't have to live like that. Parents passing it down to the kids and all of them blaming the pup.
I love watching these especially on stressful days when I’m struggleing with my dog, it shows new tricks to try, things I need to avoid, and it makes me feel better and more hopeful about my dog and mine relationship.
