    Litter mates should never be adopted together!! That’s one thing I wish Victoria took the opportunity to raise awareness on. Littermate syndrome is incredibly common whether it’s unhealthy attachment, anxiety, aggression and more. people don’t realize that adopting a dog’s sibling from the same litter is not a good idea. People are so well intentioned but it’s not what’s best for the dogs long term.

      @TeresaNTaylor 6 місяців тому +24

      I had three littermates. I called them the terror triplets because I named them Ripper, Shredder and Danger. Those dogs were sweet and well mannered. They each had their own personality and loved to be together. However, they also didn’t mind being separated because they knew that meant one-on-one time with their favorite human. Littermates can be adopted together. You need to TRAIN ALL DOGS. Dogs do not instinctively know how to behave in a human environment. They have to be taught not to bite/mouth things. They have to be taught to walk politely on a leash. They have to be taught not to jump. They have to be taught how to behave properly. Training is an on-going process.

    The sibling dogs are so bonded. Rob is a macho man, who does his own thing when he feels like it. Walking the dogs 3 day a week for him is enough. The dogs are not controlled at all. Animals are upset when their owners are upset. I think Rob means what he says, and I am glad he is participating in training the animals. Chyna is lovely with a gentle touch. The dogs need a schedule, even is sherry does not. Animals are a commitment and have to be attended to no matter whether the owner feels like tending to them or not. So much progress!

      @@christinekillen3852if they are siblings as sisters there's a programmable thing called "Peer Bonding" in dogs and wolves: there's no alpha or beta in this scenario. They are both equals. The biting inhibition is part of the hound trait. My Catahoula leopard dogs did this alot, I also witnessed this in Merle Australian Blue heelers and Cattle dogs, that's just the way they are bred to be(Sheltie's has this and so do Jack Russell terriers)..
      *SideNote* : bite inibition can or can not be cured. Sometimes you'll get a dog that will bite or nip," however if you stop the head of the dog from thinking, moving its less likely to use its mouth. " A trained dog will not automatically use its mouth, it will use its brain, eyes, body than mouth, biting is normally the last tool to use.
      Also don't allow yourself to get a dog before it's 8 weeks old. Why you ask? These last few weeks, seem like years or months to young puppy but it's most crucial time for the mother to train the puppy from biting " too hard" or biting without a reason to bite. It's as simple as it gets.
      I will say it's not for everyone: but these dogs are very High Performance Breeds they require Massive amounts of work..

    Edit:
    At then end, it was really good to see that the mindset, behaviour-attitude of the couple changed for good, not only for them as a family, but for their dogs and her daughter who were absorbing and dealing unfairly with their couple issues and all that negativity.
