aww sav, i would find a new nail lady if i were you 🤯 i'm sorry you had to go through that! i don't think you're in the wrong 😭 i'm not sure if she was just having a bad day or feeling overwhelmed or in a rush before her next client but from your story, she sounds rude and unprofessional ❤ you're a paying customer, you shouldn't feel bad for asking for a specific nail look or for asking if you could have your chair lowered 😂
She should have done all that work herself that was rude. My nail techs are amazing and thats why i tip well. Im just big on customer service! Lol i wouldve been turned off and never went back. My nail techs didnt even make me turn certain ways when i was pregnant.
The nail lady is in the wrong. Most nail techs would find the colors themselves and adjust everything for you. She seemed to be off or be rude to you for no reason.

I’m not sure why she charged extra for the nails that’s ridiculous but i’ve always had to pick the colors so I think that’s normal where you’d just go and choose so they don’t mess anything up. But then you having to read them off for her. She just sounds a little lazy…

I think she's not wrong to have you pick the colors and write them down, cause that's literally custom when you get your nails done... but maybe after that she could have just looked at the colors and the picture instead of having you tell her once she did get all the colors
No, you're not doing too much. Your nail tech should be prepared for anything, especially nowadays. She needs a morning centering & breathing routine before work, ... or at least on Saturdays 😊

That’s is the most simple nail design possible just very colourful so I don’t understand why she made you do half of her own job 😂 I’d either give her another chance because she might have had a off day and it’s a pain finding a nail tech that’s good or I’d find someone else because darn you shouldn’t feel pressured or get a headache getting your nails done like it’s supposed to be relaxing ❤

I’ve gotten charge for using more than 3 colors before sav & I’ve always been asked to pick my own colors because sometimes people would complain about the colors or say they don’t like it so they have the customer choose so it can be exactly what they want and exactly what nail they want each color to be lol. But the chair stuff may be different lol
I don't think you are the problem Sav, but she probably got upset because you were late in the beginning and that just set the tone for your whole nail appointment. You know what I mean? I'm not trying to be negative or rude at all because I've had these issues myself with nail techs. You go pay the nail tech (which can be expensive to begin with) not for them to make you do their job for them and then for her to be so short and rude to you the whole time and charge you extra..... like what?!?! I definitely think you should either tell her how you feel if you really like her, or find a new nail tech!! They are so cute by the way, and I might copy you!!! 😂

My nail tech always goes and picks the colors and doesn’t care if I show a photo but I’ve dealt with ppl who care about it and make it a big deal. My nail lady even goes as far as hand painting, certain designs to try to make them as good as the photo and she never charges more than 65 unless she has the hand paint something and then normally it’s 70. She’s awesome!

I do like picking my exact shades. i’m super picky & I even get down to choosing tones over other tones ahah. but everything else you said was crazy! & for the way those nails turned out, if it cost over $10 you overpaid! bc that ‘french tip’ is not what’s up! praying you find a GOOD home salon 🙏🏼

I’ve had that experience at multiple nail salons- picking the shades, writing it down for them, charging extra for silly things. I’m actually surprised to hear some salons can just take a picture and recreate- how do I find one?! They turned out so cute though!

I would find a new place. While she might have reasoning for how she felt, that is a very rude unprofessional way to handle it. Id rather them tell me they cant handle what i want than continue with attitude and tell me when i should have come in after the fact
You being late probably made her clientele back up just a tad BUT at the same time in that kind of profession you should know how to get your clients done in a timely manner and the fact she had issues with color and not even doing designs on your nails would have been a red flag for me. She’d never see me again. Making me pick out the colors myself when you clearly have a guide and then saying you don’t know how to fix the chair for me which should be apart of the service to make the customer comfortable kinda blows me. I’m just glad she didn’t a screw up your nails. They are super cute 🥰

It's not you. I don't get my nails done so I have no opinion; however, if she didn't know how to lower the chair, the least she could do was find out how or ask someone who did.
OMG, those of you telling her to find a new nail lady.....like really?? If this is someone she's been using for quite a while and the woman just for whatever reason seems to have like a bad day or it's just overwhelmed or whatever, doesn't mean she needs to drop the whole nail tech. That job is very stressful and wears in on people. Give her a break. She was probably overwhelmed and tired.
All of this would make me want to switch salons. Also the colors are cute but it's NOT like the picture. She painted down your nail too far. If she looked at the pic and done her job it should have been the tips. Maybe I'm also the problem 🤷♀️😂

Nail techs go through a lot… she just wanted to make sure she got it exactly how you wanted it. What if she did it all herself and screwed it up and then you freaked out and were not happy? If you made her re-do them it would have taken 3x as long. I think she made it a bit more difficult but she just wanted to make you 100% happy.

Because of all the Karen’s out there it has made it hard for average people to make respectful demands. I would see her again, be time, and see how she treats you ☺️
Yeah even those things may seem not a big deal to some people I get anxious in public settings like getting my nails done , so all of Yang just would stressed me out too 😂 like girl you are paying her to do her job and she is asking you to do part of her job ?? And I’m ngl they are really pretty but she couldve done the French tip a little better. Also how does she not know how to work the chairs at her own job? She could’ve asked for help 😂

yes, perhaps because she was a few mins late, the nail lady felt rushed or on a time crunch before her next client, but even then - she sounded rude & inconsiderate towards sav. even with not helping her lower the chair

I agree with this! But I feel like it would’ve been faster for the nail tech to pick the colors when sav said she wasn’t too picky about specific shades, rather than her searching for the and writing them down. The nail techs know their colors pretty well I would assume that would’ve saved time for her after the appointment starting late in the first place. 😂
I just have to come back and say I only mentioned being late because it’s my fatal flaw! And the hangnail is “am I the problem?” 😭
The only time you were the problem is questioning the extra cost just for ‘a few extra twists’ - that’s extremely disrespectful in any industry. Companies shouldn’t question your rates even though you’re ‘just picking up a camera’. Everywhere else you were right
You’re allowed to question when it’s coming out of your pocket. The increase in up charges for the same services and expectation to tip compensated employees lately is WILD.
