I was on the right track of this. I didn't know about the fireball barrage so I focused on the lightning. I can easily go back and get those skills up to blue at least. I'm fixing to hit level 50 and need to get better gear for sure. I am loving the build I have so far thou. it has worked well for me but I do like how you can be away from your opponent and deal lots of damage. I have a good rotation right now with my setup. Thanks for this guide though, I saved this video so I can get more in depth with it.

The issue is long cooldowns and limited skills for dps. This weapon combo only does damage from curse bomb/ curses. With the Archboss wand it would be insane but if you do not have that weapon it isn't as good. Great sword and Staff will be a harder combo to learn in the beginning for pvp. More consist dps and most options in pvp.

I watched a vid about the Gate of Infinity time to kill chart for different weapon combo builds. The top was 4.6 secs for xbow/dagger and in second was xbow/staff ttk was 10 secs. (I have heard that the skill Mother Natures protest with Flame is very good with all the projectile skills in staff.) At the bottom was GS/Staff at 1.31 mins to kill. I am not that familiar with the Gate of infinity but could you test your build to see what your time to kill is. As I have watched your vids, 1.31 mins seems like a long time difference making me wonder about the GS/Staff combo. I would think with all that heavy attack chance, and crit you would decimate.
Well sadly in PVE content if you are looking for the fastest ttk it will be with daggers. Daggers currently have some crazy busted passives that allow the highest dps over time and in a quick burst. I can definitely do some Gate of Inifinity to see how fast I can clear it and see what is the most optimal dps. PVP is quite different when it comes to DPS due to all the resistances and the fact players can move around counter.
@@Zardos00R Daggers wasn't the focus of my post, but more of the xbow/staff combo with a 10 sec kill on gate of infinity verses the 1.3 minuets kill with the ds/staff which totally seemed way off after watching some of your vids. Have you tinkered any with the xbow/staff as it seems pretty rare.
Honestly I haven't seen anything on xbow/staff. But I could see some crazy dps due to all the tick damage alongside with xbow having the best dps in the game. To me that seems like a very strong PVE build, but currently no one uses it in PVP yet.... It could be something tbh. A lot of players don't really want to get creative in this game

You could make the build more lighting focused. The only issue is that lighting skills need burn stacks to reach it's full damage output. Lighting is for sure really good for large scale content

hey man. new to TL and have never played any version of the game. waiting for global and just doing some research about weapon pairings and early game progression. Im really fantasizing the staff/gs or bow/gs off meta combo. what are your thoughts about their viability compared to each other? i do like jumping in and face tanking while in melee range so any thoughts about their sustain? keep me posted man! subbed.
GS&S and GS&Bow do play very different from one another. As bow is more focused at staying at long range. Bow biggest weakness is close range and facing the opponent up close. As the bow doesn't have a get off me tool and low mobility . The great sword can help with that but I would recommend always keeping that distance and never face tank with bow and GS. You can get some crazy good healing going on with that combo. I personally like GS&S more as it offers a better all round combat style. Also the benefit of silence protection that really does help against daggers. You can play this weapon combo as a bruiser but not a face tank as SNS is the only tank weapon. The speed you can get with all the mobility skills with GS&S can allow for some crazy good movement speed.
what about SNS staff in your opinion ? i really love playing melee role that have a bit more tank side and can kill, but i found playing staff in this game are also fun, i like GS too but i prefer SNS for my role so, i love off meta build so i need opinion about that combination..
I was trying the SNS and Staff combo out and found it was fun but was a fun combo. I was learning that setup until the server transfers came through and made me lose all my other gear :(. What I found was it was quite good at tanking and dps, just hard to tell as my sns never was maxed out against 4k gs players.
For sure!! Look into a weapon combo that you enjoy. It's a MMO after all! If you play something you don't really enjoy well then you'll quit a lot sooner.
hey man, have you tried Ice spear with fully upgraded skill traits ? i think it could work well and highten the dmg for your combos. either as a ranged starter or filler for the melee combo, id switch it out for stunning blow - Ice spear needs the bind skill trait for that to work picking up all 3 would be optimal tho. not sure how debuffs work as it applys frost so id use it as a starter in ranged incase it would remove burn stacks if casted after inferno wave for example. just fiddeling around with skill/character builders atm and thought id share this. cant wait for global release :p Edit: to expand on why id switch to ice spear bombardment from stunning blow: Deathblow and acending slash need either a stun or a bind(bound) for their respective bonuses to apply. Ice Spear bombardment binds for 3s at 80%chance while Stunning blow stuns for 3.2 at 80% the 0.2 sec stun duration shouldnt matter in that combo since the 2nd knockdown comes in before youd reach the end of stun anyways. so in the end youre getting a hell of a lot more dmg form switching stunning blow out for ice spear bombardment.
While Ice spear is very good but it doesn't offer a very good synergy with the rest of the build. Since we are using burn and most of my skills You could replace a Greatsword skill for ice spear and make it work. But it depends if you want to sacrifice close range burst for long range burst dps. Either way you can put ice spear into this build. I personal like fireball barrage better as it lowers you're enemies mana and tracks players that are cloaked.
@@Zardos00R yeah i think ice spears bind would cause more confision for enemy also more damage. then you can still keep using GS skills. maybe just remove barrage special skills to have ice spear?

@Shraeden hmmm i wouldn't recommend removing stunning blow as that is you're best option to counter daggers. Losing that skill will put you at a huge disadvantage.

I’m so torn in between following the meta and I can’t decided if I’m screwing myself for late game or not. I started with gs and staff but kept being told to switch to staff and dagger because there’s no synergy between gs and staff. So I switch to staff and dagger and I don’t like it near as much as gs.
My question is , I see that you now have the Greatsword as your number 1 weapon slot does that make any changes to the type of build you had before when having the Staff as number 1 , does that also change the stats and damage you are able to apply on opponents/mobs ?

No one talks about it due to dagger being to strong for dps weapons. If you want the easiest build go daggers. Greatsword and Staff is solid for sure has a lot of potential in pvp. I have fought all weapon combos and it works so well. You are the perfect all rounder for pvp. The biggest draw back would be no cc immunity. If you can get the Talus staff then I would say that helps the build so much

its the best build for solo..the passive has increase hp and mana.. i just wondering now, why put stats on dexterity? there is no crt dmg on staff gs.. ah its for bonus dmg at 50, and you have enough point to spent?

i was going to make dagger but ... what about "staff/GS" for pvp and pve at first ? after they are lvl 11+ i can level up Daggers too. this is more logical BECAUSE dagger is only about passives and cloak: but GS is more than that! so when the important staff/gs skills are upgraded to purple we can go and level up daggers easier after that. what you guys think ? GS is getting edits to have more powerfull AOE attacks so this build might be the king of PVE too right?
This build is good in PVE content. I have completed all forms of PVE contain in the game. Granted for the highest dps it will be with Daggers as those passives are insane. Yeah daggers are a support weapon that only are used for cloak/passive. Which makes the weapon very bland to play. Greatsword and Staff has a lot more options to mess with for sure
Sadly I'm not in a guild that does pvp. Since the timezone is KR and I am located in the NA its quite hard to get something going. The server merge that happened on the hyper boost servers really sucked as I am in a very meh server. I have done large scale pvp in the Open Beta and it performed quite well.
that depends to be honest. I would say I like GS and Staff more then Dagger and Staff. D&S has a very predictable fighting style for 1v1s. GS & S has a better fighting style for 1v1. If you want the best dps and survivability that would go to dagger and staff as cloak and the daggers passives are over tuned.

Yes you will be okay without the Talus staff. As the blue staff are quite good. The cc immunity is just insanely good. Yes very good for pve.

Question? I will be doing your build on console launch but I also want to play SNS/GS, do you use GS/Staff for both pve and PvP?
You can do both setups but I would recommend leveling up one set first as it will take quite a bit of time to get passives/skills leveled up.

Yeah pretty much! You wont really need insane SNS skills/passive until Tier 2 dungeons. I would recommend leveling GS/STAFF and then SNS

Oh staff is for sure the number one slot and the weapon that stays out most of the time.

The reason is for the 15 bonus dps. Also Dex increases attack speed which is pretty damn nice.

Hyper boost servers were much quicker then the current live servers. Except to take like 3-4 months to get fully geared.
