Where is travel disruption cover? Where is end supplier failure cover? It's so hard to find a decent insurance which doesn't cover itself from paying anything ever. When you read the small print there is virtually nothing they cover, to every so called "cover" there are dozens of exemptions.

If anyone has claimed against their travel insurance and the claim was dealt with quickly and efficiently then please let us all know as it would seem claim handlers at the moment are incompetent, drag the claims out over months and don't answer the phone or reply to emails.
Before buying travel insurance always read the reviews for the company claim handlers not the brokers, you will be shocked.

What will the travel insurance cover me for that the ehic doesn't? In regards to hospital treatment? Because from what I read ehic will cover for all emergency surgeries..

According to the government website, "An EHIC or GHIC covers state healthcare, not private treatment. With an EHIC or GHIC you can get emergency or necessary medical care for the same cost as a resident in the country you’re visiting. This means that you can get healthcare at a reduced cost or for free. An EHIC or GHIC is not a replacement for travel insurance - it does not cover everything, such as mountain rescue or being flown back to the UK (medical repatriation)." Therefore it is best to ensure you have both an EHIC/GHIC plus travel insurance before you travel. Of course, travel insurance can also cover you for other eventualities such as trip cancellation and lost or stolen belongings. More information about EHIC/GHICs can be found on the government website - www.gov.uk/guidance/uk-residents-visiting-the-eueea-and-switzerland-healthcare

Hi, I had a TIA stroke 13 years ago and have not had any strokes since I am not on any medication for TIA. Do I still have to declare for travel insurance

It is best to declare... everything, even if it was so long ago and even if you're not currently on any medication for it.
If you do go on holiday and, for instance, have a stroke, and your declared medical conditions on your police is "none", the underwriter will most likely request a past medical history from your GP (with your consent of course) before any cover on your travel insurance policy is confirmed. This may delay treatment as some hospitals will not treat you unless your travel insurance give them a guarantee of payment/confirm coverage. The other option is to pay for the treatment and then just submit a claim once you're back in the UK.

Yes, you can still buy insurance even if you're not married, have the same surname etc. You can be in the same policy or buy separate policies. Just make sure that you know each other's details (addresses in the UK, date of birth etc).
