- The internet is FULL of SafetyWing insurance reviews by people who have never even made a claim.
Regurgitating info that you can easily find on their website isn’t helpful. You want to know how Safetying travel insurance actually PERFORMS when you need it the most - based on EXPERIENCE. That’s what we’ll cover in this video.

After 2 surgeries in 2 countries abroad, 20+ doctor and physical therapy appointments, and over $15,000 in medical bills….I’ve learned a thing or two about how Safetywing works.
In this video, we’ll go over...
Does Safetywing cover you when you need it most? Or try to weasel out of paying?
Are they easy to work with? Or a pain in the neck?
Are they really the best travel insurance? Or is all the buzz overexaggerated?
In the end, it doesn’t matter how good a travel insurance company looks on paper…
All that matters is if they’re willing to put their money where their mouth is and cover your medical bills.
If you’re looking for a Safetywing review that’s backed by useful, real-life experience - here ya go!
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please always read about the details of any plan before buying. Sometimes insurance change their pricing, coverage, etc. so you want to make sure you have the most updated info before buying.

Heyo! Mitch and Day here 👋🏼
We’re just your typical American-Colombian couple determined to live every second of our precious time here on earth to the fullest. After a 10-month solo backpacking trip through South America, I (Mitch) stopped in Cali, Colombia to take salsa dancing classes 💃🏻. I only planned to stay for a couple weeks, but God had other plans for me. I met a cute Colombian girl (Day) in class, those couple weeks turned into a couple years, and before we knew it...we were married 👰🏻🤵🏼
Now we’re traveling the world full time as digital nomads, supporting ourselves by working online 👨💻👩💻
Our goal with these videos is to inspire you to step outside your comfort zone, give you an inside peek at our crazy imperfect lives, and show you that you don’t have to be rich to live an extraordinary life...all you need to do is make the choice!

Amazing info! Helped me a lot to decide. Finally someone with actually experience instead of the "I read info from internet with no life experience" mentality ^^ Can you even believe some people make reviews without actually given their own opinion? haha
We’re glad it helped you decide! The accident was no fun, but it’s cool to see that it is helping other people get covered 😌
I work in healthcare and deal with insurance billing as part of my job, and what you’re describing about insurance companies dragging their feet about payments and pre-approvals sounds just like nearly every insurance company I’ve ever worked with state-side. It’s important to remember that insurance companies make money by not paying claims! It is in their best financial interest for you to get so discouraged by how long it takes to get reimbursed or to get pre-approved for a procedure that you either put it off or decide not to go through with it. Throwing up hurdles like needing patient intervention to speed things along, piling on documentation requirements or flat out denying necessary treatments on technicalities is shady tactics they all engage in. Some companies are more brazen than others, but I’ve yet to deal with a company that doesn’t do this stuff at least some of the time.
Well that is both reassuring and frustrating to know haha! Sounds like it's something you have to deal with no matter which company you choose. Thanks for sharing your insights!
I used to work in medical billing for hospitals & doctors offices and dealing with insurance companies can be rather difficult on our end. Some insurance companies won’t even talk to us, so yes, it’s usually faster if you (their customer) deal with insurance companies yourself. They technically work for you, since you’re paying them, whereas they don’t work for hospitals or doctors. Just one way of looking as to why insurance companies tend to take their time when dealing with medical staff. Also, this is based off my experience in the US, so I don’t know how other countries handle their insurance to hospital relationships.
Hey Nikki! Thanks for the great insights - I wondered if that was normal or just a fluke. Sounds like it can be expected no matter who the travel insurance is. That’s good to know!
you should be giving us the heads up of what providers were good or not ;)
Thank you for being so honest, showing real emails and everything. Only honest reviews are actually useful, so I love your channel already!
You’re very welcome! We’re glad you found them helpful 😊
Very helpful. I hope to find an updated video on your channel. I’m getting safety wing this summer.
@13:00 *Warning... record as you like, but do realize motivated companies can and will challenge you + your recording in courts, arbitration and lean on what the contract states.* So, do as you like but please don’t expect it to be a smoking gun or silver bullet of 💯% assurances. For the UA-camr... *Thank you for the unfiltered review.*
Thanks for the warning! Yeah I am definitely not a lawyer, that’s for sure. It did make me feel more comfortable knowing I had evidence of coverage where the contract was somewhat vague, but I have no idea how it would actually hold up in court. I figured it was better than nothing!
Super informative and I like that you don't drag through videos. Great work!
Thanks, man! I try my best to not ramble but it’s a challenge!
Thank you for the very thorough in-depth review. Finally someone!!!
You’re very welcome! Stay tuned for another coming soon!
Thank you so much for your clear review! It pretty hard to navigate through all their "positive" reviews online, at least now I know what to expect if I do sign up with them.
Yeah affiliate marketing can be a double-edged sword… on one hand, it’s awesome to get rewards for promoting companies you believe in. On the other hand, the internet gets flooded with reviews from people without much real experience, making it hard to know what to believe. As for me, I will continue using SafetyWing 🤓 the extra phone calls I had to make were well worth all the money I save in premiums…and I have a hunch I would’ve had to make those extra phone calls regardless of the company!
Cigna Global Expat medical insurance is 50% less than Safety Wing and gives you 6 months coverage in the USA. Cigna doesn't pay people affiliate commissions because they have the best product. Safety Wing costs are mostly going to UA-camrs.
Thank you. I watched your video and signed up for a 3-month policy (in Portugal) with SafetyWing for my husband and I, using your affiliate link. :)
Thanks so much for supporting the channel! We hope you have an amazing trip in Portugal 🤗 which parts are you traveling to?
@@ProjectUntethered We will be staying in Lagos (with our two dogs) and hopefully checking out Porto and maybe somewhere in Spain while we are there. ❤️
That’s so cool! I hope you guys have a blast. My favorite place in southern Spain was Granada because of the free tapas 😋
Great review! I appreciate the disclaimer at the beginning regarding your affiliate relationship. I will add one quick note here: It's been just under 1.5 years since you made this, and that damn roadmap is literally still the same (just nudged forward). Looks like they're not doing much to actually implement what's on the roadmap.
Yeah it seems a like there have been a few hold-ups 😕 I actually got to meet with some of their team a couple weeks ago and they said they have some exciting things down the pipeline. I’ll be making another video as soon as it comes out!
@@ProjectUntethered Have you heard any updates?
The Nomad plan is still going strong and I highly recommend it! They also have a new Remote Health plan coming out to the public at some point. I’m currently testing it out 🤓 if you have any questions about their plans that you can’t find on their site, just let me know and I’ll them for you
These types of insurances require you to be a billing office:
- keep meticulous records
- make lots of calls and e-mails (calls are better)
You get paid as slowly as possible for your expenses and if there are any mistakes you will see delays on reimbursements.
It typically takes 120 days to get “paid”. And some insurances are more notoriously tardy. Remember the slower they work, the longer they have your money, the more they earn. It all works in their favor.
You won’t know your rights (they do); you won’t know what records are needed (they do); you won’t know about medical coding (they do). You are at a great disadvantage = they sell you on a dream of coverage but to actually get what you paid for is a whole other matter.
You definitely do need to keep your receipts and the doctor report you get during your appointments, but that seems reasonable to me.
I did make several phones calls, which I would have preferred to avoid. But my situation was a bit complicated with a lot of moving parts. I do wish they would have handled everything for me though.
That said, I think this is the case with pretty much any travel insurance, and it’s hard to complain about making a few phones calls when I had $15,000 in expenses covered after only paying $40/month premiums for a couple months.
Overall, SafetyWing is the best bang for your buck I’ve found, and they came through when I needed them. But the process could certainly be improved.
COMMENT BELOW: Have you had any experience making claims with travel insurance companies? How did it go?
Yes, claimed with Safetywings 4 months ago and still waiting. The claim isn't even showing on my account even although they confirmed it within 2 days. 14% 1 star reviews say it all. ALL the positive reviews have not made a claim
I would definitely try following up! It sounds like something got missed/slipped through the cracks, because it shouldn’t take that long
Thank you for this honest and informative video! Super helpful and well done. Cheers!
You're very welcome! :-) Safe travels! 🤓
Thank you for all the information! Question, did you have to pay the 15K upfront before getting reimbursed? Sorry if you mentioned this already. Did you use a credit card?
I had them set up a direct pay before my surgeries. There were a couple physical therapy follow up appointments though that I didn’t get approval in time, so for those I paid with my credit card and then made a claim for reimbursement.
After viewing things and reading your blog I will see which company is most suitable for half the year geezer travellers. Most insurance seems to cater to those who go on short trips (under 3 months), who are young (under 60) and who travel for the whole year. Haven't yet found a plan suitable for those 65+, who leave Canada/USA for six months every year and have even one pre-existing condition (even if all they want protection from is car accidents, serious illness etc - you know *big stuff*.
Hey there! Yeah, things are definitely a bit trickier for 65+ travelers, but with so many travelers in that age range, there has to be something! Safetywing is handy because you can set it to autorenew each month until you get back from your trip. The downside is, they don't cover pre-existing conditions. Pre-existing conditions are the trickiest, as most travel insurances don't cover them. You might have better luck looking for an international health insurance plan. If you haven't seen it already, this guide might give you some ideas: www.projectuntethered.com/digital-nomad-health-insurance/ Another idea is to poke around the web searching for older digital nomads (maybe there is a facebook group?) to ask what insurance they use. Best of luck!!
@@ProjectUntethered Very good idea, Sir - ask fellow geezers who are absent from Canada for long periods.
Quote: 66-69 years old, for one month, not including USA, no pre-existing conditions in the long list of questions answered, is USD145. A mere 48 days is $248.
Is this good value? You readers decide.
I suppose it depends on what other options are on the table. The no pre existing conditions part would worry me if you have issues that could go south while away. Let us know if you find any good/better options!
@@hermes8258 If you’re used to US prices, then that’s very close to free!
Where did you get that quote? And have you found any place that covers pre-existing conditions, too?
@@apollonius_rising I must find and consult my notes in order to answer your question. I believe that the reason Canadian supplementary insurance is less expensive than US equivalents is that we already have basic health insurance provided by monopoly companies in every province (and I think every territory as well). While I have some substantial issues with the Canadian system, the good news (for us) is that no resident will be denied triaged medical care and lose his life due to a car accident or his savings/home due to cancer. I thought US policy changed with Obamacare and virtually the same is true now in the USA. Am I incorrect?
What if people don't have the money to pay upfront isn't there an insurance broker or company that will automatically payout to hospitals doctors cetera? I am from Canada going to Thailand I was told to check with a broker in my own country what do you think?
I haven’t looked into insurance brokers because SafetyWing has always worked well for me. Would you be able to put it on a credit card temporarily until you get reimbursed? I was able to work with the hospital and safetywing to get my surgery coverage approved before actually having the surgery, so I didn’t have to pay out of pocket. But I can’t guarantee this would work in all situations. This might be a good question to ask in their chat to see what they recommend!
Great video. I’m currently looking into using safety wing for a cruise as a non us resident. I’m still wondering how it works, Do you have to pay the doctor out of pocket upfront with your money then make a claim to safety wing?
The best way to get accurate info is to use their chatbox on their website, they respond super fast! And for reimbursement, it usually depends on the situation.
I am only going to South America for 2 weeks. Do I have I have to cancel it manually after I get back to the US?
You should be able to choose whether you want auto renew or if you have specific dates for your trip :-)
Hey was the bike RENTED in your accident? I'm having a hard time finding coverage to ride a rented bike in Phucket Thailand for a one week trip. Any recommendations?
Yup it was rented! I would recommend SafetyWing haha. But you can message them through their website chat and ask if you want to make double sure.
thanks for this video. do they actually have a list of in network hospitals where you dont have to pay out of pocket first?
That’s a good question! I don’t know off the top of my head, but you can just ask in their chat box on their website and they usually answer in a couple of minutes
If you are a new client with them and you paid only the first month and you need their coverage during that same month, will they be able to cover their new clients in that case?
If the incident happened after you started your coverage and it is something that’s normally covered under the plan, then it should be covered 😊
Thank you for sharing your experiences and review.
You’re very welcome! 🤓
Hello, what insurance provider would you suggest for $50,000 coverage per year? I’m applying for a long term residency visa. Safetywi ga was my first thought, but I want the best… and average in cost not a cheap one that fuxx me
This site might be able to help you find what you’re looking for! bit.ly/3rMpaZS (affiliate link)
I don’t agree with you about safety wings is the best as per my experience in Bali . The company doesn’t reply to claims and the claiming process is super complicated. They took so long even to reply.
I’m sorry you had a bad experience! All have my claims have been paid, and I’ve had to do several. But as mentioned in the video, I did have to call/email to check in. I’ve also used World Nomads, and the claims process was similar in terms of what they asked for (although it was processed faster). In the end, the savings was worth it for me, I hope you have a better experience in the future!
Thanks for a review from someone who's really used it.
You’re very welcome - I hope you found it useful!
How do I know which hospital in Cambodia?
We went to Royal Phnom Penh Hospital because it is associated with hospitals in Thailand, where I had my original surgery. That way the doctors could communicate with each other easier in Thai. We had a good experience there!
@@ProjectUntethered Sunrise Hospital (across the river) is an affiliate of a hospital in Hachioji, Japan and comes highly recommended.
Ooo that’s a great tip for anyone looking for a place. Thanks for sharing!
hi. Do you know if safetywing covers trip cancellations?
Look up on their website
Hi, I'm looking to make a short holiday to France for 10 days. Would you suggest Safety Wings?
I think it’s the right choice for most people, but it really depends on your specific situation and what you plan to do on your trip. I have a couple helpful travel insurance videos coming up the pipeline, so stay tuned!
Insurance companies are always a headache 🤕
At least they covered me! :-)
Safety Wing has a 250 USD deductible, that has to be met before the insurance company starts reimbursing you for eligible claims. Nobody will return your money if your health matter is below that. Watch out for this!
That’s a good point. This is pretty common with insurance, especially those with super cheap premiums. The good news is it is per policy period (and not per claim like some other companies).
What do you mean by "Nobody will return your money if your health matter is below that"?
The way I understand deductible is that over the period of my insurance, first 250 I pay out of my pocket (for whatever would be eligible as a claim) and after that the insurance pays. So if I had to go for 6 doctor visits worth $50, first five I'd have to pay and 6th would be reimbursed. Right?
That is correct!
I guess as Americans, we are used to paying for insurance and understanding that that insurance probably won't pay for every little Dr visit. We pay for high priced health insurance AND Still pay VERY High Medical Bills.
My Son's rescue inhaler for Asthma is between $75 and $150. His Advair inhaler is around $500. It costs $100 out of pocket after insurance pays their part. People think Americans are rich but don't realize the high expenses we pay for everything even necessities.
💥Looked up the info from all plus Awesome Work man, love the simply way in his words
Appolonius,Wonderful Mate,💫
Do you know anything or heard about Heymondo insurance? It will cover me in the USA when I come home for a month each year.
Hey Jen, the name sounds familiar, but I’m not familiar with how they work. SafetyWing would give you 15 days of coverage in the USA when you come to visit, but not a month. When I go home to visit, I usually buy the IMG Patriot Plus plan. It’s worth checking out!
@@ProjectUntethered Thank you! I’ll definitely check it out
Hello, my insurance expired and I decided to stay longer than I planned in Thailand. Can I get it even though I am already in the country? Some insurance companies dont allow it.
Yup! You can buy it even if you’re already traveling, super useful
Yup! You can buy it even if you’re already traveling, super useful
Some places you have to pay before treatment. Some places will not let you leave without paying first. Both counts make this company unworkable.
Yes, unfortunately this is the case with most travel insurances. I don’t think there are any that work directly with every single medical facility worldwide. It’s not always possible, but it’s best if you can choose a hospital that works directly with your insurance. Fortunately whenever I’ve had any expensive treatments, I was always able to do this with SafetyWing. Your mileage may vary though. No matter what insurance you have, it’s always a good idea to have an emergency fund or credit card just in case you need to pay out of pocket and get reimbursed
@@ProjectUntethered Wait, Safety Wing usually pays the hospital and doctors directly, like GeoBlue? That’s a HUGE benefit, if so. Seems like most international insurers require you to be pay directly yourself, then they reimburse you… whenever.
It all depends, sometimes you can get it pre-arranged, but other times you have to make a claim. Luckily I was able to get my surgeries pre-arranged, which was very convenient! On their roadmap, they have a loadable debit card they’re working on which would fix the need to pay out of pocket, but I’m not sure when that’s going to be released
just get a passport card visa they pay
Like the Philippines…hospitals have armed guards to keep patients IN who have not fully paid up! And if you don’t have the money, it insurance and the possibility of paying for treatment…they will happily let you die!
Is Safety Wing a health insurance or a travel insurance? Is it suitable for obtaining a Visa?
They have both options now, and yes it should work for visas! But if you wanna double check, you can chat with them on their website, they respond super fast.
Do you recommend taking travel insurance in safetywing?
This is such a helpful and thorough review. Thank you!
You’re very welcome!!
How about insurance for party of 5? I tried to navigate the website but couldn’t find anything
Yeah unfortunately it’s a little tricky in that sense. You might have to just create a separate account for everyone and buy each one individually. Kind of a hassle, but it should only take a few extra minutes after you get the hang of the first one. Hope that helps!
We have SafetyWing insurance as a family of 5. Our policies are all linked together under one account. You can add adults and children. One child under 10 years old is covered for free per adult. So we pay for 3 plans and our other two children are included for free. 🌺Heidi
I stand corrected! Thank you for the great info! I wonder if I got mixed up because I have to do mine separately from my wife because she’s from a different country
Very well done! Thank you!

WHAT is that clip of you flying through the air in a CAR in the intro @0:44???? Oh my god, that's so cool lol, it's like The Fast and Furious 7! hahaha Please tell me how/where you did that?

Hahaha you shouldn’t have any problems then!
What insurance policy(s) do you have now?
We are both still using Safetywing :-) but when I go to the visit the US, I use the IMG patriot plan
@@ProjectUntethered Is there US add-on option with Safetywing ? If so, do you know an estimate? the premium would be triple???
Yes, there is a US add-on, but only non-US citizens are eligible for it I believe (might want to double check). If you are a US citizen, they allow you to return home every once in a while for a short period of time. Hope this helps!
And you should be able to see the price super fast, all you have to do is click a button that says I’m traveling to the US (or something like that) :-) Dayan uses this coverage whenever we visit the US since she is Colombian
Bit confused - Video claims 2 years ago. But heading inculdes ("...2023")!!!!!!!!!
The information has been the same up until a couple weeks ago when they released Nomad 2.0 (not available to US residents yet). Might be time for a reshoot now!

@ReadySetGo113 Merry Christmas to you too! 🎄
World Nomads will not cover peeps over 69 years old. What about Safety Wing?
You’d have to double check their website, but I don’t think so 😕
Buy MedJet too. Yearly.
Headed out of the country for a month. Would you suggest any particular insurance?
Hey Malcolm, are there any specific activities you need to have covered?

You’re very welcome! 🤓
I'm traveling this monday to chile for a month. Does this cover at least $30,000 & covid 19?
Yes and yes! 😎 (at the time of writing)
It says it doesn't cover asymptomatic covid. for e.g in Thailand, if you test positive on the arrival they will take you to the hospital and you will have a massive bill! Make sure that's not the case in Chile :)
Ahh that’s good to know! The last time I talked to them, I asked a similar question, and they said if you test positive on arrival, it would mean you were actually infected before your trip (so it would be a preexisting condition). That was several months ago though so I should look into if any details have changed!
Did SafetyWing ask for a copy of your motorbike license ? And did they want to see an International Driving Permit?
I don’t believe so, but I can’t quite remember as it was a couple years ago. Although I did have a motorbike license (but not sure if I had an international driving permit at the time). Probably a good idea to have both though just in case.
@@ProjectUntethered Thanks man!
Thanks for your video... so, with this insurance, if I ve a motorbike accident and the bill is $15K, I have to pay first with my money, and after come back to Safetywing for refund !?
It all depends on the hospital you go to and how much time you have to coordinate things. If it’s a life or death emergency and you need treatment ASAP and they take you somewhere without an international department, then you’ll most likely have to pay out of pocket and get reimbursed. But in my case, I was stable and had my surgery scheduled for several days out, so I was able to work with SafetyWing (actually Tokio Marine, the underwriter) and the hospital’s international department to get the payment approved beforehand. This was super convenient, but it’s not always guaranteed. I hope that helps!
Hi, going to New York from India for 7 days visit with wife and kids..looking for a reasonable travel medical insurance for any emergency / unforeseen medical issues with direct billing (pay and claim later is not an option for me) many companies in offer pay and claim later option only...any insurance company there which allows direct billing with the hospital instead of make me to pay first ?
Passportcard Nomads allows for this, but unfortunately I think they only offer longer term plans. You’ll have to double check though as it may have changed. Hope this helps!
@@ProjectUntethered Thank you
Very useful! 👍
Glad you found it helpful! 🤓
Hi! Thanks for this informative video. Question- now on their website I see a Nomad Insurance and a Remote Health Insurance. I know you mention the difference between travel insurance and international health insurance. Which of their options acts more like an international health insurance, and is this the one you used/are talking about?
For more info- my partner and I plan to travel around the world for about 8 months from July to March. And we want an option where if we get sick for a or b reason and need to go to a normal doctor or hospital that it will be covered.
Hey Wael! We just use the normal nomad insurance. That should cover you if you get sick and need to see a doctor. It doesn’t cover pre existing conditions, preventative checkups, or that type of stuff though. I’ve never used the remote health insurance, but I think that would be more of an international health insurance type of deal.
Do you know AXA assistance?
I haven't heard of it before - what is it?
@@ProjectUntethered also a travel insurance but I can't find much about it. Could you explain that deductible part again please? English isn't my native language so I don't understand some things. If you could write would help to translate. Thanks in advance.
Sure, with SafetyWing, it's a $250 deductible per policy period. So basically for the entire time you have your policy (up to 1 year), you will pay the first $250 of medical expenses. After that, the insurance covers everything. This is different from some other travel insurance companies (like World Nomads, for example), where the deductible is per EVENT. That means that you have to pay th deductible every time you make a claim (versus just one time per policy period). That said, World Nomads seems to only have these deductibles for non-US citizens. I recently made a review comparing SafetyWing, World Nomads, and PassportCard Nomads in depth, so make sure to check that one out if you're interested. Hope this helps!
@@ProjectUntethered thank you so much! I got it now 😃
1:19 you killed your credibility with that comment. I was looking for a truly disinterested review, meaning someone who wasn't trying to make a commission off me.
I can see where you're coming from, but I'd argue that including a disclosure actually ADDS credibility. The people you should be wary of are (1) people who hide their relationships or (2) people who recommend things without any real-life experience. I'm simply trying to help travelers make an informed decision by sharing a positive experience I had. I'm not trying to trick or make a commission off of anyone. People who find the video helpful can choose support the channel at no cost by using my link. This is certainly appreciated, as creating videos like this takes a lot of time. But people who don't want to support the channel are free to buy directly from the company website (or choose a different insurance). But I think you'll find that SafetyWing is the best budget option for most people.
Thank you.
You’re welcome! I hope you found it helpful!

I’m just interested in major medical expense from say a heart attack, stroke or falling down and breaking something or everything. How are these companies with regards to elderly and typical risk we have because of our age. Is that considered preexisting because of our age? Thanks
Hey Tom, I think I would try to find a type of travel insurance specifically for seniors - I’m not exactly sure which is the best, but I’m going to make a couple new travel insurance videos soon, and if I find a good one, I’ll include it!
@@ProjectUntethered I’ve been doing more reading and watching videos. Seems when you need it most your choices are limited. I am 100% covered in the US so no issues there. It’s the overseas bit that’s complicated. I’m still trying to figure out what’s best as a traveling Senior. Thanks for your reply .
You’re very welcome. Yes it can get tricky, but I’d imagine there has to be something because tons of seniors travel, right? If you find anything let me know!
Most US health insurances will cover medical expenses in foreign countries. So why would you need travel insurance?
I’m under the impression that most US health insurance plans won’t cover foreign medical expenses!
@@ProjectUntethered it depends on your plan of course. But a standard PPO plan certainly will. Your impression is wrong.
Interesting, if your plan covers it, then there is no need. But I encourage everyone to do their own research to be 100% sure they are covered. There are also people who travel long term who may not even have a primary insurance plan but need coverage on the road.
I retired early and my US insurance is expensive. I’m traveling to Thailand for a year so Safety Wing is the cheapest option for me for the next year. This video was very useful for my situation.
I’m glad it helped! 🤓
Safety Wing is full of Shite, I got this insurance after watching your video and when things went wrong they didn't want to know me. Avoid this insurance agency. You will just lose your money.
What happened? We’ve made multiple claims and it’s always worked!
@@ProjectUntethered I got this travel insurance thinking I would be covered for everything. But when I was refused boarding a flight and lost all my money they didn't want to know me.
I always recommend reading what is covered before signing up for anything. It sounds like refusing to board your flight isn’t covered, and I don’t know of any travel insurance that would cover refusal to board unless it fell under certain circumstances (getting injured and not being able to travel, etc). It doesn’t sound like SafetyWing’s fault in this case, but I am very sorry to hear about your situation!
@@ProjectUntethered you’re a good guy I would’ve called him an idiot for thinking that medical insurance has anything to do with flights
Haha thanks, maybe it the meditation I’ve been doing lately 🧘♂️ Travel insurance does sometimes include trip delay/cancellation/interruption though, but that’s usually if you are medically unfit to travel due to illness or something like that (I can’t remember SafetyWing’s exact policies off the top of my head)
How is this video for 2023, but uploaded 2 years ago?
click-bait name change?
Everything I said is still the same :-)
New video coming out next week.
Basically a long infomercial for safety wing
Just sharing my experience 🙂
Why is travel Ins from within the USA such an expensive pain in the neck? I come from the UK and ANY travel ins is like $200 per year
That’s a question I wish I had the answer to!
I don't understand, did you pay $15k upfront and then they paid it back later?
I managed to get the hospital and SafetyWing to work together so the hospital billed SafetyWing directly and I did not have to pay upfront. I think the only thing I paid upfront was a couple of the follow up physical therapy appointments because my approval didn’t go through in time, but that was just like 20 bucks. That said, you’re mileage may vary with direct billing - it may depend on how cooperative the hospital is that you choose to use.
Thank you
You bet! :-)
