Loving this Sam! Entrepreneurial as ever and great fun to watch. Good luck!
Thank you so much. Keep watching!
Absolutely couldn’t wait for the 2nd one of this. Look forward to watch the journey
Awesome! Lots of shits and giggles to come!
I watched the pod cast thought it was good, I would get yourself a decent diagnostic scanner that does the whole car not just generic engine fault codes. I've worked in the car industry (manufacturing) for 39 years so have a lot of experience. Stay away from vehicles with wet belts (Ford ecoboost & PSA 1.2 pure tech engine fitted to Pergeot, Citroen, Vauxhall
I have an Icarsoft CR Max. Its really useful but still learning the ropes with it. Thanks for the tip of what to stay clear from!
Just subscribed after watching episode 1 and now episode 2. I’m now hooked 🙂 I’m a big Volvo fan so good to see one on the channel. You seem to have a logical approach to it and the use of AI is very interesting. Cheers
Ah Thank you. I love our volvo! Stay tuned for episode 4. I add AI into google sheets.
Really enjoyed that and find your approach of using data and AI for data analysis fascinating! Wish you all the best in your new venture!
Thanks, you too!
Great channel Sam, and congratulations on your journey so far! You definitely have to learn quickly in this industry, and you are getting some early lessons with the risks attached to JLR products! Graet to see your boys in this one.... If the Citroen sells they will be due some commission! Looking forward to episode 3!
Thank you! It will certainly cost me several ice creams!
I buy and sell Salvaged Vehicles and non Salvage and this video really helped out with the auto trader information so thanks for that!
Thank you. Really glad it helped. Stay tuned!
Genius way to advertise the car. The boy's appear to have enjoyed the experience also. Hope you sell it soon. See you in the next one. Cheers 👍👍
Ah thank you! Yes see you in episode 3!!
Really enjoying your videos. Loved the clip of you relaxing with the Barbie whilst your son cleaned the car 😂
Ha! Thank you! He did a fine job so I thought I'd just leave him to it!
Enjoying your launch into the car trade. I’d say Land Rover products are a bitter sweet prospect in the car trade. They’re such a risky brand to buy/sell given their horrendous reliability issues but yet people seem to still be willing to pay top money for them. I don’t know if that’s naivety or some perceived status thing. Good luck and hope that buyer hangs in.
Def a status thing i think!
Loving the first couple of episodes I sell a couple of cars on the side but haven’t fully committed to it yet. Still in my full time job. Will be watching your journey closely… keep it up and good luck 👍
Thanks so much. Its proving to be a tough cookie!
How did you get trade insurance?
Make sure your car is 100% ready prior to advertising, saves all the stress of a customer waiting, you've got to prep it fully at some time, so do it before, it'll all work out the same, if you have to cancel the deal and re advertise people think something wrong, you've got to hit it hard off the bat, give them a good run round for a few days.
Absolutely, i'd rather have a car perfect when the customer sees it. I certainly would if i was the customer
@@WattsOnCourt yes, I get everything I'm doing prior to that advert, full advisory free mot, fresh service, vallet, paint, it's an easier sale then, all this 2ing and froing and being in touch with the customer unfortunately builds up a relationship and they'll not hesitate to live with you over a car, cars aren't like other products, loads of issues and customers are rarely happy, lots of buyers remorse, tbh be brisk and reticent when selling, not too friendly, it'll bite you.
100% have the car ready to go there and then, saves alot of hassle!
@@CFreeJ that's what I do, best price then, no excuses, modern cars throw up so many problems you might have to put it to one side, stuffs rarely an easy fix, saves all the stress and you've got to fix it at sometime anyway, on all my sales people turn up, pay and drive off.
Awesome confidence and being positive your on your way buddy,💪🏻 it’s funny but also wonderful how u got your lovely kids helping you while your chilling great family business time ❤️🤝 I wish you huge success mate
Ah thank you so much. glad you enjoyed the vids. Stay tuned
Great channel I've now subscribed, already subscribed to 'shifting metal' there are similarities in the persona between you and Joe, entertaining yet professional. Wish you the best luck.
Awesome and welcome! Thank you for your comment and stay tuned!
YOU cleaned the Volvo to perfection! 😜
Why thank you! Took hours!
The boys are marketing geniouses! 😃
Great insight, don’t blame you for refunding on the CX5 (sometimes it’s not worth the aggravation) but don’t forget that you should cost in the extra owner as well as the mileage. At the end of the day they didn’t bother to contact you so shouldn’t expect a freebie
I’ve deducted circa 800 but as you say, move on and you never know, I may get a good part ex from the new owner!
Brilliant fun, love this content
Great! Really pleased you like it!
Why the algo decided to show me your first video I have no idea…but the title was good, I watched it, and now I’m here!
Great. Welcome and stay tuned!
Good to see you have your team behind you .Onwards and upwards .
Thanks! They’re awesome!
Great watching this, very addictive. I had a stint as a trader, limped on for 3 years give or take. What harms that C1 is it's 3 doors. Similarly, I had for sale a C2 (3 door only with a useless boot) when they were still current and sat on it for months. Again, a perfect Ford Focus Edge in black, immaculate, low mileage and faultless, however the click rate on Auto Trader was rubbish. Problem: 3 door. Another example, Honda Civic, one of Britain's favourite cars(?) it sold eventually but was a 3 door: kiss of death!
We're talking nearly 15 years ago for the examples above so times may have changed. This didn't apply to the cheap end of the scale, Saxos, Micras Clios et al. A Mk4 Golf GT TDI was also hot property back then irrespective of 3 or 5 doors.
Anyway, the very best of luck (once that Disco is put to bed..) - subscribed!
This has been my first 3 door and yes, it has been problematic but there has been some movement on it since!!
New subscriber here mate I’ve started buying and selling used cars 🚗 maybe 6 months ago had some good ones had some bad 😂
Oh good luck! Yes, you’re blunt to pick up a dog somewhere!
Great episode
Definitely look forward to seeing more episodes what did you purchase the volvo for and retail price could include this on your content.I picked few good tips from this one fantastic
Sure, The volvo I bought for £9022 incl fees. I have it up for retail for £11,550 should only need an MOT, a good look over, service poss and i'll polish the scratches out but there are bugger all scratches and its in mint condition. I chose this car though AI and it was a cracking buy. I always look to finish with 2K net profit!
@@WattsOnCourt appreciate your reply.
Great series budd!
Thank you very much!
Great idea for free advertising, you could also get magnetic soft plates that could go on the doors, plus a rear window advert for al those cars following you 😀
Cool idea!
Really enjoyed this.
Good luck the channel 👍
Thanks so much. I'll continue as long as people like it!
Totnes! Not far from me !😮
Hi Sam, new subscriber to your channel and enjoying it. Quite interested in buying and selling cars has a part time venture. One question when buying a car from auction what is the process with the logbook if a trader, do you keep it in previous owner or do you have to fill yellow slip on v5 sold to trader...?
Take care
Mark
Great idea to sell the little Citroen, very entertaining!! keep it up
Ah Thank you! stay tuned for episode 3!
Look forward to following the journey. Definitely avoid the JLR group, lovely to look at but horrendous to maintain.
Absolutely! Not buying another one for a while!
great content.... can't wait for you to sort out the mic situation though.... came here from the podcast
Thanks! A new mic is winging its way to me as I type!
Really enjoyed your vids. From experience always try to buy what sells! No niches like Volvo, Land Rover, Citroen. Go Ford, VW, Toyota, Audi, Merc, etc. just my opinion. Wishing you best of luck!!
Thank you very much!
Last year volvo sold over 50k units. This was a 37% increase from the year before. Hardly a niche and likely to become even more mainstream if that growth figure continues. Of 40 brands in the UK volvo ranked 14th for new sales.
You seem like a frightfully decent fellow. Good luck!
Well, thats very kind of you to say old chap!
Great video again. When it come to selling to we buy any car do you have to own the car for a certain amount of time before selling it to them ?
No, You just need to have the V5 in your name. You can sell to them on someone's behalf but you need letters of consent etc
Good to see you doing you tube. Definitely invest in a decent mic for your sound quality and keep up the good work 👍
Thanks, Got it on order already!
What a great way of advertising a car 👍🏼🙂
Its a little different, we'll see if it works!
I used to make a living out of bobbing cars outside with a sign and description in the window, not everyone is on the Internet, if it's taxed just park it somewhere prominent, I've sometimes put a car out and someone has stopped and asked, then bought before I've even got out of it.
Proper old school advertising
@@WattsOnCourt worked for years, just use autotrader now tho, local council didn't like it ultimately, unfortunately.
Hi mate.
Your content is brilliant, but buy yourself a microphone please, because the sound sometimes too low 😊
All is fine after this episode! ☺️
It’s a hard job. Mitigating risk and maximising profit while reduce risk on known w&&k cars. As other comments JLR/Ingenium dog poo and any wet belt. Then some man’f autos tragically unreliable. Powershift. You’ve got the basics right just avoid shocking boomerang cars. Cars that come back post sale. Etc.
Thank you for your comment, Yes, you've got it in one, wet belts and JLR. stay clear! I just have to see this Discovery through and get it right, even if it does cost me a bit of a chunk. I can't hand over a car knowing there is an issue that will bite them or me!
Another great interesting video. Keep it up.
Could you give any advice on trade insurance, as I'm currently getting quotes for a startup here in South Wales. Many thanks Steve.
Absolutely. Im going to bring a video out showing the exact set up. Stay Tuned!
@@WattsOnCourt Great. Thanks for the reply.
What a great way to advertise a car. Lol. You deserve to get on. Good luck with the landy. Cheers.
Thanks! stay tuned!
Shit. Thanks 83 after full stop and comma. Saw James of Clever Car Co adverts looked like this and never knew how !!!!
Yes, its a great Tip. James did cover this, never gave the amount of stars so i got him on the blower and got the magic 83! do not forget the .,
Interesting video. When you were putting your search into AI you put your price limit as 10,000K. That's £10 million. Probably confused the hell out of it.
I did spot that but thankfully AI was clever and saw that it was incorrect. I'm going to do a video in more detail with this so stay tuned if its of interest. Sam
What a lovely bit of the world.
Its so gorgeous, A car dealer in the country! hope this works!!
@@WattsOnCourt as nice as leafy leafy ( cough ) Cheshire, I reside
Riveting viewing - completely hooked! Well done Teddy and Monty as your trusty sidekicks. Who wouldn't want to buy at car from you?! Can't wait for Episode 3. Onwards and upwards, Sam.
Ah Thank you so much! Shame the school holidays have finished and now I don't have my sidekicks!
Speak to Joe about getting yourself a TopDon jump starter and diagnostic tool.
Ive got something very similar! just need to learn how to use it!!
The Ben Fogle of car dealers. I bet the fit Totnes totty looking for family cars lap him up. Seems like a great bloke. Good luck
Thanks old chap!
Seems a bit weird that BMW have been recalling BMWs for the last 10 years plus for new EGR coolers and paying for every job to be done under warranty FOC on cars that are upto 15 years old as well and it sounds like Land Rover have the same issues but aren't recalling the cars, very strange especially when you say the Cooler has been modified.
@@minimeee04 it’s bloody nuts! Make a car, know it’s crap and then don’t look after the customers.
@@WattsOnCourt Indeed i certainly think its worth a phone call to Land Rover customer services,
Nice to see your children earning their pocket Money 😂😂.... You definitely need an external Microphone... Great video 👍
Thanks! It’s on order!
If the kia has a misfire on one cylinder is that not a possible simple repair?
faulty spark plug, ignition coil, or fuel injector?
It actually had no compression. nothing. Did all the tests etc its a new lump unfortunately.
Good stuff. Really confused about AI work that you did and then completely ignored? What happened to the Renault and the Nissan that it said you should buy?
I did actually hone it down a little further and there were some nasty bits that popped up with those cars. I'm doing a more indepth video of the buying process from start to finish so you'll see how i finally whittle down to 2-3 cars and why. Volvo was a great buy though, shame about the Yeti.
Try oven cleaner on mucky exhaust pipes!
Great suggestion!
Decent scanner required, keep away from ingeniun engines, tbh I think your garage isn't sure of the problem, so it's the old send to land rover ruse. That's going to cost an absolute fortune. You need someone to remove the egr and clean it, could be the turbo tho. On that 3 mths refund, be interesting if he goes for 700 quid off, he'll be wanting a full refund I bet. Tbh I'd just tell him no after 3 mths and 2500 miles, especially if there's basically nothing up with it, I don't think legally your responsible for just a change of mind after the 14 days cooling off distance selling period. As you took it out and he viewed it, it's not really a distance sale, as he viewed before buying, you'll be 1500 quid worse off when you re sell.
Its such a tricky one. I havent heard from the bloke for over a week now. maybe he'll just keep the car? i'll update on the next video IF he responds!
Stay tuned and thank you for the comment
@@WattsOnCourt OK bud, if I get a funny customer in the first few days I basically insist on a refund, I can't stant people moaning, but after 3 mths, I'd help out with a repair and/or do it cheap, but I'd not be refunding, no matter what, it's your living.
Good interesting vid. Your audio is poor though. Best wishes with your business.
Thank you paul, Ive bought myself a mic so we shouldn't have that issue again!
you do need to sort the sound out 😁
I know. Bloody bog standard Iphones! Ive bought myself a mic now. The next episode will be crystal clear!!
Don’t buy land rover products if you want a stress free life in my opinion
Absolutely. Stick to Japanese!
Yes, they do raise the blood pressure slightly! Thanks for the comment and stay tuned
we buy any car owned by BCA
Correct
Interesting idea to use a spreadsheet to filter the cars. A column for reliability would be helpful, if you could trace a reliability rating. ☮️
Ooh, yes, I think I can do that. I'd question AI in that though but worth a go. i'd need to do some in depth research to create the prompt but im sure it can be done
what's going on with the in and out audio quality or is it me ?
Dont worry. Mic is on the way!
You missed a trick with that kia, should have bought it yourself, bypassed wbac and as you've an account with bca put it in yourself, it's all wbac will do anyway
@@roystonvehicles9129 it was a favour for a mate but yes, I could have made a tidy sum if I really wanted to! He gave me a few pints for my efforts anyway!
JLR products just aren’t with the agro. Largely.
I'm not buying another!
Good to see you using child slave labour to keep the business costs to a minimum🤣
Shame that you didn't get the Yeti and I can understand why it went for over book. I had one previously and the only reason that I didn't get another was, they stopped bloody making them, which was a shame as it was a brilliant car.🚙
If you see another Yeti that's within your budget, then I suggest that you jump all over it.
Loving the content of your videos and looking forward to episode 3. 👍
Great to see your subscribers and viewers increasing (wish I could say the same for mine)
Thanks so much! Yes, i'd like a Yeti and have my eyes on one for this week! Stay tuned!
Be careful using your phone when driving, 6 points are not fun when trying to get insurance renewal! Ask me how I know 🤦🏼♂️
Tech and gear is on the way!
Your journey sounds interesting but your audio is terrible right across the video. You speak very quietly so the mic is not really picking you up. I suggest you purchase a good mic as UA-cam is also good for your sales :-)
Thanks, yes I know, it’s in order!
tried my best with this one, but i can't lip read so gave up.
So sorry. My mic is on the way! Stay tuned!
I didn’t think Audio the worst. And new mic on way comments.
put that BLOODY phone down and concentrate on driving !
No pheasants were harmed in the recording of this video.
your sound is poor
Its horrendous, i totally agree. Just bought myself a proper mic!
Get a microphone
Watch episode three, Its here!
