And it pisses me off when people ask "Isn't that Ray Charles?" WOW. That many people who don't know a thing about music, or music history.

That impression will never leave me until the day I die. What a hell of a vocalist Terry Kath was...

      Survivor2002 Amazing part it was Terry who shot him dead. Jimmy Guericio was one of the producers and pretty much the whole score was tracked by members of Chicago. Most of band nembers make cameos in film.

      @ZoolGatekeeper 3 роки тому +5

      I love early 70's American cinema and Electra Glide must be one of my favourites... The ending is sad, but cause it was filmed in Monument Valley, it has to have some Western 'deeper meaning'.. And in Westerns the hero very often walks away from the camera... Not here, this is a anti-Western context.. So Robert Blake gets shot.. and the camera pulls back, as to repeat the old wild west hero tradition, but in reverse... Just genious thinking on the part of the director...

    I agree with "William S", "Sonny Crockett", and many others... It was written by Jim Guercio (Chicago's Producer thru '77)... among other things, Jim was also a songwriter... If he reads this, I'd like to say Thank You for this song... It's a rare beautiful song and somewhat a fitting anthem to America... and maybe Terry Kath as well... for me, I believe this is a perfect song for Terry Kath... just about written for him to sing... This song always wrecks my heart, Sometimes makes me cry... I wonder if it was Jim's intention for Terry to sing it.... or maybe a better word might be, "inspiration" ... "God Bless America"... and Jim Guercio... and Terry Kath, RiP... I think I speak for others here when I say,... we miss you... we miss you.....

    "I have always believed that this land was set aside in an uncommon way. That a Divine plan placed this great continent between the oceans, to be found by a people from every corner of the Earth, who have a special love of faith, freedom and peace...."

    Here ya' go (part I):
    Tell me about the sun
    Tell me about the rain
    Tell me about the fields
    Tell me about the plains
    Will they come again, I don't know
    Will they ever come again, I don't know
    God above, is there not anything that we might do
    To try and make this world of ours a better place for me and you?

    I first heard this at the end of Miami Vice and loved it ever since. To me, as a nullifidian, the song is about remembering that we should try to mend the wrongs in the US but we should remember that the US is a power for good in the world, and that there is a genuine beauty in the people and country.

    Thanks for posting these amazing photos!! A true tribute to Terry Kath. One of my favorite songs of all time since seeing "Electra Glide in Blue" in the theater in my teen years. The soundtrack was released on cd 2 years ago by Quartet Records and includes this song.

    Do this.........put away all speakers 3 mm across.....close the doors all over the house...sit down.. grab your major headphones.....volume 11....sit back and listen to one of the great film-ending anthems of all time; wonderful singing by Kath with just the best backing you've ever heard. Not convinced?....don't worry; one day you will be.
