    I bought one with the Rolhof hub, it has just arrived. First ride in a couple of hours. Looking forward to it, I got £1500 off the list price of £7249. Super pleased.

    For city living as a replacement to a car it would be perfect. Very expensive though, however it does look to be a very high quality e-bike. For a single person residing in a city it may make sense to spend that amount on a bike instead of a car as a direct replacement, but for a family person it would be difficult to justify pricewise. I'm sure there are substantially less costly e-bikes equally as good as this though. Great review as ever Derek, makes a refreshing change.

      get what you pay for. Compared to a car much cheaper, the depreciation on a car is more than the cost of this bike. Running costs negligible. Not cheapest but best all round bikes I've come across. If you want a bike that handles the roads and weather without a twitch, shudder or slip these bikes are the ones. If you don't have potholes and the Sun always shines where you are other bikes areavaailable :-).

    Great review and looks like a lovely bike. Despite the obvious quality and design I’m just not sure I can stomach the €5k price tag. At that level you’d expect a lightweight carbon bike, certainly not 26kg. Seems to be a hefty premium for the name in this instance. Would love to see an option for a comparable spec at 50% the cost.

      I have one, had it over a year. I have other bikes including a recumbent. Honestly the charger 3 does everything I throw at it.. I shop with it, tow a trailer, camp, day rides, off road. It gets used instead of a car. It's sure footed ,, even loaded up with a large tent and camping gear. Worth every penny, I've riden other ebikes, expensive ones, they might do one thing better but don't do everything like the RM does. I reckon it took me 6 months to appreciate it, the more you have one the more you do with it the more you like it. Safe secure indestructible,. Just brilliant.

    I have an Orbea Karu E Bike from Green Aer at Half that price and it's a superb bike capable of 60km distance that I've cycled up to the Naul . The Katu is a smaller frame bike which suits me as I'm 5ft4. One big issue is getting insurance, with it often costing more to insure one of these than insuring your car.
    Insurance companies just look at price and the amount of thefts of Bicycles that makes the rates very high. Also these Bikes should be restricted to 25kph that's the limit in EU and you don't need 45kph off road so I would go for something with lower power and a lot cheaper, but still a lovely bike for those with the money. I saw their 10k bike in the shop.

    From looking at the R&M website it appears that you cant select the comfort handlebar with the Kiox display - is that correct? That would be a pity as the comfort handlebar would limit access to the more advanced tech.

    Hi Derek
    I'm hoping you will do a review on the new and up and coming GTX the car I have on order. I've seen one review on the GTX already from an Irish UA-camr and it didn't contain any content about the actual car.

    I have been riding ebikes for 6 years now and they are a great way to cycle. I am having a test ride on a Riese & Muller Charger 3 this week, and looking forward to it. Do you think it is worth paying the extra for the Rolhoff Hub Gears?

    I have been watching some of your reviews and they have some great info within them. Im thinking of getting an e-bike but am unsure what to choose from. So far i am just looking at the warranty offered and thankfully a few of the Irish providers give up to a two year warranty. Im just wondering if you could offer any advise as to which bike would better suit my needs. Im looking for one primarily for exercise/leisure and im thinking i would like to eventually use it for commuting to work, which is a 28km route most of which is along Greenway corridor. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly apricated

    Lovely bike. But what's the legal situation with the higher than 25km/h assistance?

    • @itsfahys
      @itsfahys 2 роки тому +1

      Its not legal on Public Roads, only on Private Land, off road, where you dont need a bike with that speed. Basically people buy these and brake the speed limit. Ive an Orbea Katu myself restricted to 25kph I can still cycle faster than 25kph Downhill but the assistance stops at that speed. Still people are tempted by the extra speed, which is really dangerous if used in City Commuting.

      It's considered a light motorcycle and legally requires registration, tax, insurance and drivers licence to be on public roads.
      I don't think it's enforced, until something dreadful happens.

      @@NevoEVReviewIreland hi - just checking if you've gotten an answer on the current rules here in Ireland in terms of the model you tested (i.e. where the pedal assist continues to 45km/h). I tested a bike that only has pedal assist to 25km/h and I found myself using my own power a lot at 28-32km/h so I don't know if the lower power bike would suit me. I know there's some legislation in the works and so things look like they will change but any idea what rules are there now?
