This bike has had some awesome upgrades since this video! Check out the links in the description if you want to learn more.🚲
Like Madmakam, my wife and I each bought a Nevo as the GX model with Gates belt and Rohloff. After about 6 months use, we each have over 2,000 miles on the bikes and love, love, love them. We find the bikes are very stable, sure-footed and agile at the same time. As I get older, the step-through becomes more and more important. Kudos to Propel for their help in selecting the bikes and supporting us. We typically ride 20-25 miles at a time and still have 3 bars of battery when we are done. We got the Abus chain extension for the frame locks and use them all the time as a short term locking solution for quick visits to a coffee shop or to pop in to a deli to pick up a sandwich.
Thanks a bunch for sharing your experience Ted! The Nevo is such a great bike and I’m very happy you guys are getting good use out of them :) stories like yours are one of the many things that makes me grateful to be in this business! Many more happy miles to come for you guys!
I know people are often intimidated by the price of these bikes. But they really do pay you back, in health benefits😊.. personally I saved hundreds of dollars in gasoline my first summer🤔. I found myself riding everywhere. Thanks again Chris.❤️.. Just keep doing what you do. You’re a natural at these videos.
Bought 2 of these for wife and I. Stunning pieces of kit ..... do yourself a favour and trial this bike .... incredible. PS love these Propel vids.
Thanks a bunch! Glad you’re enjoying! The Nevo rocks!
Looking at this for my upgrade.
are you afraid of it getting stolen?
well, these bikes cost so much that you'd always be worried about leaving it unattended and taking an eye off of it - having $5K to $8K bike stolen would be a significant ouch; very excellent and informative video - love how it exudes such ebike enthusiasm and knowledge
Much appreciated! You have a great point and I think good locks paired with Insurance is the best you can do.
That's ridiculous. That's a lower priced used car. I paid $8k for my Kia Soul 3 and it was 4 years old at the time. Still haven't had any repairs years later.
Bought one today after several weeks of hesitation with the Charger 3. Great bike !
Congrats! Enjoy it!
@@Propelbikes thanks to you, I watched almost all of your video on the subject. As I live in Belgium, I could not buy it at your store but I would if I've been in the US.
Thanks Fabian! Much appreciated :)
Beautiful video of a beautiful bike. I love the clarity and close up shots of the item you are describing as well as the bike in motion views. Thank you.
Thanks Lin! Much appreciated! Glad you like the format. :)
The lowstep is also good for city use, since you need to get on and off a lot.
I completely agree! I use it a lot in the city and I love that aspect of the bike.

I moved from a MTB Fully to a plain Pedelec with low step frame about a year ago. Today I ordered a new ebike since mine is starting to show it's age. It's going to be a Giant AnyTour E+ 2 and I am looking forward to getting it next week...😇
Very exciting! Happy almost new bike day! I wish you many happy miles on your new bike 😎
@@Propelbikes
Thanks. We have a bit Storm around here at the moment (Sabine), but I hope I will still be able to pick the bike up tomorrow
Interesting to know if there are any updates to this model for 2021 ! Great review Chris, thank you.
I’m a big fan of these Propel videos. The videography and audio are outstanding. Your description of features is crystal clear. I find myself wondering if I could tell/appreciate the quality or ride experience of an ebike in this price category vs my Shimano Steps/SLX commuter that cost so much less. I’m not disputing the quality or features of the R&M. I guess I will have to wait until I can get to Propel in Brooklyn to find out.
Thanks so much Jay! We’ll definitely look forward to your visit. I think you’ll be thoroughly impressed.
Once upon a time the song used to say ,, oh lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz,, I replace Benz for R&M in my song ! 🚴♀️❤🚴♀️❤🚴♀️❤🚴♀️
Yes! I love it! 😆
I really like the Nevo with the performance line motor and gates belt, but that price, holy....call me in a few years when prices come down.
Hey Chris-another great video! Question, in your opinion what kind of maintenance would the average user expect with this bike? I'm in Phoenix and just curious. Thanks, Chris.
Thanks!
The maintenance is pretty minimal. The motor system doesn’t require any specific maintenance so it’s usually just brakes and tires and such. The Rohloff requires an oil change every 3000 miles. The Vario/Enviolo will need some adjustment to the cables at slime point and further down the line 10k+ the belt and cogs will need replacing. The standard touring version will need maintenance on the chain and Cassette more frequently.
Hi from Norway!
Love your videos - so informative and neutral.
Could you please review the Riese and Müller swing city?
Thanks! Much appreciated! Unfortunately we don’t have the Swing here in the US so we’ll have to wait until we open a shop in Europe to do that one🤞
This bike seems almost identical to my Raleigh Redux ie bike with the exception of the addition of suspension front forks, the potential to carry a 2nd battery and the type of drive gear option. Everything else is identical. (Mine has a Kiox Display which is better than the Intuvia) Having owned mine for just over a year, I've put 4000 miles on mine with only one minor issue when the internal battery cable in the frame needed replacing. (Done under warranty) It's a very comfortable bike and capable of 28mph.
How to adjust driving wheel ?
Chris for my wife the small frame is perfect... In the 'Barrio' belt and hub gears version what price are we talking about?
I'd like to get one for my wife for her Bday on Nov. 26 would that be possible? I'm in Staten Isl. Thanks again Joe
Chris, In your opinion, which bike rack is the best fit for the Nevo? I have a Tundra with a slide in hitch receiver. Thank-you.
My recommendation is the Thule Easyfold XT. It’s my favorite bike rack for sure
It works well with them as it clamps to the seat tube.
Chris - how tall are you? I'm trying to get a feel for your compared to all the bikes I see and the frame size. I'm 5"4" so trying to determine how you compare when I see you riding these bikes. Thanks.
I’m 5’9” but Tara is 5’4” the 43cm would be the way to go for you.
@@Propelbikes Thanks Chris - follow up question if you don't mind - if I'm interested in the Superdelite - whose smallest frame is 47 - do you think that is still workable for someone my height or totally out of the question? Thanks.
great video keep up the good work
Great Video as always but
Would this work for women 5’ and inseam 28”?
The 43cm size will. There is also a new version which was launched yesterday. We’ll be publishing a video about it later today. It’s called the Nevo3.
4:50 you didn't mention Marathon Plus tyres?
Great work Chris - the color looks wonderful. Who was the 2nd shooter - do you do that gimbal work?
Thanks Mark! Much appreciated, I shot Tara in this one or most that you see with Tara in it. I think I want a wider lens to give some more options for the riding shots. Currently shooting with the R and the 35mm RF on the Ronin SC which is light and high quality. I’m hoping I can still balance the new Samyang 14mm F2.8 which just dropped with the native RF mount. It’s a bit heavier but I think we’ll appreciate the ability to do wider shots in the bike lane. What lens are you running when doing rolling shots?
@@Propelbikes Really nice framing with the gimbal Chris. The shot looks great. Tara is doing such great work. She is an athlete of image-making. The 35mm lens looks great - no distortion. The 14mm will have a bit of a fun house look. Try renting one through sharegrid first and give it a try. I have been shoot with the 35mm Sigma Art lately, but I think I'm going to get a 24mm next so I can shoot better on bike paths too. An 18mm may work. But try the 24mm. Best Regards Chris for a wonderful year ahead.
Great feedback Mark! I really appreciate it. I wish there were more native RF lenses. Trying to keep it very lightweight. The Ronin SC with the 35mm is a great combo, I just wish we could go a little wider. I might need to go with an EF lens with an adapter. I have the adapter already. It would be awesome if the 14mm didn’t have too much distortion, but I know that’s the nature of the wide angle. Maybe I need to wait till it’s available for rent. They just released it last week and I’ve been waiting for it. Next tool is a slider which should be nice for epic beauty shots :)
@@manFromPeterborough I agree, Ideally I find the 35mm best, but it is location dependent. A 24mm is just ok, but you have to watch your angles.
Hope you are well Mark! We’ve been shooting with longer lenses these days and that’s been fun.
What is the difference between r&m superdelite and and r&m supercharger2. What is the difference between a rohloff bike and a normal bike. What bike should I buy r&m superdelite or r&m superdelite mountain or r&m supercharger2. I will be Using the bike 70% on road and 30% off road
what bike do u think I should buy will the superdelite handle a little off road well. (PLSS REPLY)
I would go for the Superdelite. I would probably go with the standard Superdelite instead of the mountain version since you are doing a lot of on road riding. You could always remove the fenders and swap the tires if you want to convert your bike to the mountain version.
Just got one today & I can't get my lights to switch off
I had been drooling over the Moustache X-Road 3 step-through, but have been having a hard time in my area finding one in my frame size. But a local shop has made me an offer I have to consider on a R&M Nevo with the Enviolo Automatiq (Nyon display). It's about $2,000 more than I wanted to spend (Canadian pricing here), but it is such a fine bike.
I have a question about bike racks (two and half years after this video was made...). I think this is too heavy for the racks on a city bus (I live on an island and head to the mainland monthly, the ferry terminal is 33KM away, and the final destination is 49KM inland), but what about most bike racks for cars?
How much all in, all fees, taxes?
Starting $6500 Canadian babies, but the continuous variable transmission is worth it maybe, for a few extra babies
What are your thoughts the Nivo3 vario vs the Priority Current also with the Enviolo?
What is the difference between the rohloff and normal version of all the r&m bikes why are they more expensive what is the use of it (PLSS REPLY) and what performs better off road
Sorry for the delay. The Rohloff hub has a very wide range of gears and it's all contained so it's low maintenance. The cost is higher because it's much more complex to build, especially with the electronic shifting. The derailleur performs really well off-road as it shifts fast, but the Rohloff is also a great choice for off road.
The Schwalbe Road tyres have awesome roadholding with in built suspension, so why does the bike have a suspension fork? A rigid fork would be simpler, cheaper and lighter.
This bike is built to have the best overall performance and I think the suspension fork helps to smooth out the ride and keep the wheel planted on the ground for better handling at higher speeds. The tires help, but they can't soak up the larger imperfections in the road.
how do you lock it up
What price dous the bike retail at?
Are these bikes made in Europe?
They are made in Germany. We actually made a video about the build process here:
ua-cam.com/video/DhywE9c5loQ/v-deo.html
It looks like a great bike but the weld quality leaves something to be desired. For the dollars Riese & Muller charges, they should finish the welds better.
This could improve the aesthetics but it could lower the strength. I like the idea of prioritizing strength. They have made some changes in the way they build their new frames, but I get what you’re saying.
When my Haibike Bosch CX dies, I’ll get a Riese Müller with two batteries in the frame.
But boy, they’re expensive, although worth it. 🙀
Why they use a bosh cx gen 2 on a 2020 bike when they already have a bosh cx gen 4 motor?
The Gen 2 motor still works great and it’s not feasible to upgrade all bikes at the same time for a variety of reasons, including supply availability. This bike is still quite popular with the Gen 2 system this year.
@@Propelbikes thanks for your reply.
Really frustrating why aren't bike companies fitting GPS as standard. Here in UK bike theft is pandemic and totally puts you off buying anything than old and not worth stealing
Well that kind of money definitely buy and use best of scooter
super nice bike, pretty expensive in nz, about as good as it gets for commuting.
I agree! They do an excellent job!
Anyone know how heavy is the bike?
This bike starts around 55lbs including the battery.
Price??
This bike starts at $4,989 and you can learn more about it here: propelbikes.com/product/riese-muller-nevo-gt/
The belt is great, the Enviolo hub lose to much energie. Rather would have a Shimano 8 speed hub. The Rohloff is the best, so is the price. I like a monoshock for the front wheel. Tires are to big for me. If you can chose everything you like, which is practically impossible, I like rim brakes more. I do not have that on my bike, but I no like my disk brakes. They brake fine, but often make noises. All in all the bike looks great. Low step will be the future, I have no doubt about that. The battery in the frame is top. I always should buy a Bosch motor. Does not have to be the most powerful and fast. Even the most simple motor is still a Bosch, great quality. Also the batteries from Bosch are top level. Price Riese & Müller bikes are way to high. Better buy a Dutch or even a French ebike. Quality just as good, price much lower.
I know you are Dutch so I won’t hold your comments against you ;)
It’s interesting how different regions have very different perspectives on these things.
@@Propelbikes I also think that where you live there are different roads for bikes. We do not have much off roads for bicycling. So the suspension does not play a big roll here. It is mostly flat. No mountains. So no need for the strongest version motor.
On the other hand our taste is not so different. I love a middle motor, must be a Bosch. I did not say Riese & Müller makes bad bicycles, they make top bikes. I also do not how how easy or difficult it is to import different brands, Californië and even New York is far away. I try to be honest with my comments, my opinion can be different for other people. And I respect that.
I always appreciate your comments. I hope you don’t take my comment personally.
@@Propelbikes No Chris, of course not. I always like your vlogs. When we talk it is always nice. Honest and open. All the best friend!
Thanks! Same to you!
Bro, I'm trying to like you, but why are you promoting non throttle bikes? throttle is key for ebikes to work long term. People have bad knees or other ailments that prevent them from pedaling sometimes. The throttle is CRUCIAL feature...
And this is a popular sold bike in your store you say? How do people have a spare 5k knocking about? I’m clearly in the wrong job.
I think you might be looking at it wrong. Sure 5k is a lot to spend on a toy, but if you use it for daily transportation as many of our customers do it’s actually pretty affordable compared to other modes like a car.
Propel Electric Bikes the perfect retort from the person selling the bikes. 😆
True very expensive to buy,I know allot of people who lease the bike, this is the most popular at my work.
Red? It should be blue.
Eww no
At $6K they could have at least used an air suspension fork rather than that pogo stick
And hydraulic brakes
If i believed in satan, this would be satanic.
