It says to select a WiFi network from the WiFi icon at the top right of the menu bar. But there is no WiFi icon there. There is a battery icon and a select input icon (to select alphabet.) And that's it. How do I get the WiFi menu to appear?
At the 1:36 mark of this video the mac is suppose to give you the options to go into the MacOS recovery system. It just gives me the option to restart.

Well, you shouldn’t really try to unlock it yourself and trying something which you don’t know as it might do some extra bit damage. You can just take it to any Apple Store, or Apple Reseller or any authenticated Tech Guy Like *MOE* where they sell MacBook They’ll just log onto iTunes on their Mac and your problem should be resolved in 10-15 minutes. They effort required is very less, it’s just about knowing the thing that you’re doing. *MOE* charges are less. By the way, technically they shouldn’t ask for anything as it isn’t a laborious work at all so if you argue enough with them, they might not charge you. But also, they will ask you for the Apple ID and Password. So, it would be better to change the password after the work has been done just for security purposes..
This doesn't completely factory reset your MacBook. Information such as the previous name of the MacBook and saved keychain passwords is still in memory. Can anybody tell me how to get rid of them? This wouldn't be too handy if I decided to sell my MacBook to someone as they would have access to all of my previously stored passwords.

No, clicking on "options" does NOT take you straight to recovery assistant. I don't know how you got there but it wasn't by clicking options.
