This was by far the most clearly done instructional video on resetting a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air M1. The step-by-step process was so easy to follow, everything went just fine!
Aaron, thanks much! Sold my Mac last nite, and tried the "old way" unsuccessfully to reset first, then searched out your clear step-by-step method for the M1. Two thumbs up!
Thank you for being so clear and detailed. I've only had mine for 1 day and decided I needed a bigger screen. Now I feel comfortable returning it. I appreciated this video.
I'm in Gaborone Botswana, Windows based IT Professional and have just switched to Macintosh, the best walk through ever, i enjoyed how you clearly explained the boot sequence which i struggled with. Great job Mister, managed to reset my bosses MacBook Air M1. Couldn't have done it without you, great job 😉👏
Thank you so much! The internet is so unbelievably full of convoluted, murky and ridiculously complex instructions on what should be straight forward. So happy I found this video. Subscribed
Needed to sell my MacBook and I swear this was the easiest video step by step to watch and do all in real time. No need to rewind cause it didn’t make sense or no need to even rewatch. Thanks!
Thank you for making this. Your information is accurate and well-explained. A lot of other content creators seem to offer incorrect methods for doing things, and I wanted to comment and say thank you for doing a great job. I've subscribed. Please keep it up!
This was super helpful. I was struggling away with the old method, until I saw this. I didn't get the select language after the reboot, it just went straight to the select network.
what is the point of the first step of deleting everything from the mac if you are going to format the hard drive anyway? That stage seems so pointless to me.
@@QefkaRetro if you just do a reinstall it doesn't actually remove anything. I learned the hard way and had to do it all again but first erase and then reinstall.
Aaron, this was really helpful. I bought the M1 Mac Mini on Wednesday and decided I would rather have the iMac so I had to erase and reset the Mini. Thank you.
Thank you for this video! I know I can always count on you when I don’t know how to do something lol…this was my first MacBook and I wanted to factory reset it. This was the easiest tutorial ever. Thank you again!
Thank you, after trying to read the online guides, I felt daunted about doing this, but your video was easy to follow and made things seem straight forward. 😀
Thanks so much! Your video was very helpful and easy to follow. After a successful reset, I managed to send my new Macbook Pro M1 back where it came from.
I returned my M1 before watching this. I only went through the formatting part, and reinstalled Big Sur. I'm a Windows user, and so I assumed going through the factory reset was enough. Do you think my information is still on the Mac?
Thank you Zollotech. Very easy to follow along. Unfortunately, i am returning an M1 Imac 24, and upgrading a PC. I tried getting deeper into the Apple ecosystem, but found navigating the mouse and so small open/close buttons such a pain i didn't want to pay the extra $1k over a PC. I've used Iphone since the 4s and have upgraded iPads four times. I was surprised at how poorly the iMac speakers were compared to ten year old $50 Walmart bought speakers. And as far as needing a larger 24" screen over 21? I have a tv for that. thanks again.
A couple things to note. Clicking the X does not close the apple, but rather file and quit or using command and Q. Also I am very surprised you think the speakers are bad. Maybe you got a bad one because they are quite impressive compared to most. Either way, glad I could help.
Thank you!!! I couldn't find this info on the Apple site. I should've gone straight to UA-cam first. The Apple site took me to the Intel chip instructions regardless if I included the M1 detail in the search. I just replaced my M1 MacBook Air with the new M2 MacBook Air. I'm trading in my M1 to Apple. Thank you, again, sir!
This is NOT a successful installation on the Mac M1. It will be stuck at the "Create a Computer Account" and will never get through. Can you make another video showing us the real successful installation is? Thank you,
Whoa, thanks, I do believe it's working. Finally loading to my external. My MacBook died recently and so many opinions on how to do this, very simple instruction. This is the furthest I've gotten, probably going to take a while with 750 GB though.
I tried to go through the process before watching this video and went for the "erase" option and not the "erase volume group..". I don't know how to move on from here now 😕 I see that "other volumes" use 100gb but can't erase them, any idea?
Thank you for this informative video One question though... why sign out of all the accounts before shutting down. Won't they all go if I do the formatting straight ?
I’m returning a Mac mini I just got, which makes me sad because I really wanted to love it…just don’t like Mac OS. Anyways, this helped a lot. Thank you!

The most straightforward, clear and easy to follow video on something that is quite complex to many people. Thank you very much, your awesome!

OMG finally you were the only one who could get me here - 1 hour with MAC online finally made genius appointment and found this
Straight to the point, no time waste. Good job sir!!
What if I don’t see Wi-Fi connection option when I am trying reinstall macOS after erasing ? I am stuck there. Can u help ?
straight forward, no time wasted, no long unnecessary intros. great video.

This is awesome. The instructions on the apple support page was completely wrong! Thank you very much for posting this.
So clear and easy to follow - thanks so much Aaron!
Thanks, very clearly explained. Much better than any of the Apple docs 🙂
This is what UA-cam is made for. Thank you for this. If anyone reading this is stuck at create a user account screen, this tutorial worked for me.

how did you know I needed this?? thank you!!!!
Absolutely, hands down, the best video on how to do this.
Side note for others that find this: worked on my M1 Studio Max.
The best video teaching this process hands down. Much appreciated!💪🏾♥️
Amazing video! Concise, informative and helpful! Thanks Aaron 😊
I sat and watched 5 other UA-cam videos and you were the only one who walked me through this with ease! Thank you so much 😊❤️🥰🙏🏾
IVe done this a hundred times and always follow a video guide to make sure I dont forget a step and this is the best one I've found
Excellent - at last someone who speaks plainly and clearly thanks
This was an amazing clear video and just what we needed. Thanks.
Such an incredibly helpful video. All the steps were there with no fluff. So useful. Thank you very much

I did this and now my lab top wont do anything just flashes a ?

Thank you Aaron! Great help in returning my 2021 MacBook Pro m1 due to a faulty backlight - after only 3 weeks of ownership! Thanks again.

Give this man an award for explaining it in the way he did 🏆

Here is how to properly reset a MacBook that has Apple Silicon. Hopefully it’s helpful and thank you for watching.

@@rutvikgulavani8973 I think you have to restart your Mac and try it again
@@rutvikgulavani8973 oh, dude, its terrible. Good luck
Thank you Aaron. Smooth and to the point. Was faffing about with the M1 air without realising Command R only works on non M1 chips.
I clicked on erase instead of erase group now I'm unable to reinstall.
It says no user authorized blah blah error
What shoul i do now??
This is the only useful guide out there. All others use the simple route but for those who didn't log in with an Apple ID, this is the only way.

@@kadeemedwards206 I ended up by having another MacBook and use the Apple Configurator 2 to set up again, then it worked.
Thank you for making a clear video with direct instructions. Very helpful!
I’m so glad Apple fixed the reinstall MacOS problem. I remember the hassle back in January when I decided to erase everything.
Thank you! I was struggling with finding a simple and clear cut way to reset. Thought I broke something 🥴🥴
Every button I touched I thought I was at risk of breaking something. They don't make it easy to erase these laptops.
Such a helpful how-to without any useless information, thank you!
Saved for later reference thank you. 😎
Really well done, thanks for the straightforward walkthrough.
I could not have done this without you! Thanks!
Thanks bro
@Thilosh S he has 720k subs. Why is that so surprising?
You’ve done it again! Apple should hire you man 👍🏼

Thanks, you the only one who explained all the steps properly .
Always come back yo this video. Thanks for the clear explanation!
Really helpful thank you! I tried following the guides on the Apple website and they were no use - this was great. Much appreciated.
Thanks for your superb Guidelines and how to's. I followed it step by step and was a walk in the park. Now onto my M2!!😁
Thanks for recording this! I wasted quite a lot of time trying the command R method to no avail
This is the only video worth watching.
Absolutely flawless set of directions. Consider me grateful.
WOW you made resetting macbook air easy to restore and sell. I truly appreciate your video and the time you put into creating it. Thank YOU!!!
Thanks, Aaron,
you've made a perfect video for reset the M1.

Thanks Aron, had trouble resetting my computer but thank you for helping me out.
I was looking at the wrong tutorial video the whole time and wondering why it didn't work... M1 duh. Thank you for the video! Definitely made it easy!
The way you make everything so easy is awesome !!
Aaron I’m not getting the option to “erase volume group”. Any ideas?
Great, easy video. Thx for taking the time.
I was overwhelmed about going through the steps your video was godsend! Thanks
During the erasing disk utility part I accidentally pressed Erase instead of erase volume group and I’m not sure what I should do next…
same here XD
Same lol
What happened?
Thank you so much for this video. This is by far the best one everyone else chitter chatter is way too much and breaks concentration

Used this to reset my laptop for 2023. Going to look if you have one for iPads pro
THANK YOU MAN, you were the only guy who fixed my issue.
